I want to join the challenge too :3 Anyways, try Banana Fish (its pretty long tho). Its shoujo but it has a fair bit of action. Initially you might feel a bit giddy with the bishonen stuff but you'll get over it in no time coz the stuff is pretty good. Oh yeah, Mars is awesome. Don't let it fool you with the shoujo tropes. Else you can try Fruits basket (probably will feel a bit fluffy at first) or Please Save my Earth (space bitch) |

Although the description says this, if the one-shot wasn't ever published anywhere as UnoPuntoCinco says, then it'd be more appropriate to read Blame! the series and not the one-shot since I consider debut manga as the first published work, not the first manga by the author ever. If you have the "prototype for longer series" item, then this could work for it if you make a note that there's a one shot that became a prototype for Blame! |

This is as mayukachan says, a doujinshi. Webmanga (or webtoons as some users have previously stated) are original stories that an artist serializes in a website. Maybe the link below will help. https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?category=Webcomic 5000man said: One piece update i just finished chapter 75 and i really like it so far, nothing amazing but still an enjoyably read, i just hope i finish it before the year ends I'm not sure how much I remember from the beginning but to me it got really awesome at Sanji's introduction arc. |

So I started to read "Gunslinger Girl" , and I was thinking using it in a sort of twisted way for "manga with childrens in it"...but I'm not so sure it fit , the more I think about it....would 10/11 years old cyborg assassin girls could be view as childrens ? Do you consider you are a pre-adolescent and not a children anymore at that age ? To go in full detail , one of the girl say she is starting to have her first period so... Well , I guess I'll use another entry for it than the children one if peoples think it don't fit . I came across "Mars" a few times , maybe this challenge will be the opportunity to get myself to read another shoujo . Also , guys and girls , if you want an advise : " for relaxing times , make it Yokohama time ." |

Definitely one of the top shoujo you're likely to find. And I second Yokohama. It's probably the best manga I've read and the only manga that can compare with it (in terms of the calm, slow, melancholy pacing) is Aria. |

@Dullboy I think that "children" can be twisted a bit here. If they look physically like children, I think it can count even if they're not human, also to me a kid stops being a child at 14 or so, so it could count. @5000man I'm not sure how that One Piece comment can count as a spoiler, but yeah I guess different people will see it differently. A place was mentioned but it wasn't like MinaRockz talked about major events. I thank you both for keeping the thread civil though. And I've been meaning to read Lollipop but it's not a huge priority now (if I do a second round, I'll definitely choose it! Lots of users are recommending lots of great manga here!!) |

It's harder than I thought it would be to find manga that I'd like to read and that they'd fit for a challenge :v For the "professional in their field", I have 2 candidates and I was wondering if you could tell me if they count. First is this one, that includes an expert assassin (not sure if it counts as a "field" lol), and then, that one, where one of the 3 main characters is a neurological specialist (the problem is that the person is only a part of the main cast and not on their own, judging from the description). What do you think? |

I'm reading Planetes for the genre I dislike - space related sci-fi - and it makes me really tired. I see that it's good, but it seems I can't get past my hatred for the genre. Maybe I'll change my mind later, though. For others who are reading things they normally wouldn't ever pick up, are there any pleasant surprises? Or can you just not get past your initial dislike? |

Well I must admit I sort of "cheated" with mine because the manga I chose had the fantasy tag just because of one chapter in the whole thing and it wasn't that bad. If I had chosen some hardcore epic fantasy medieval stuff I would've had more trouble but would have liked it anyway if the story was good. That said I absolutely love space related sci-fi so it's interesting to find someone who feels the opposite way about it! I don't mean it in a negative way or anything, I'm very respectful of other people's opinions, it just shows how diverse taste can be. |

I'm here for suggestions about my 'recommended manga by another participant'. Anyone has a title who would like to recommend me? I'm pretty much open with any genre but it has to be complete. I haven't updated my ongoing titles in months so I don't want another. If you really need to know, I like comedy, romance, action, adventure, seinen. I don't want shoujo, I read a lot already. |

Now I'm planning to read "Hoshi no Samidare" along with "Mars" , while finishing "Gunslinger Girl" . I'm not so used to read manga with more than 10 volumes , so it is indeed challenging . I tryied to read "Annarasumanara" but it really wasn't my type and I found it very annoying and made to please people easily (I hope I won't make enemy saying that ^^) . Maybe it's just me , but it feels like webmanga are low level manga with easygoing colored computer graphics most of the time . I searched but nothing really pick my interest . It's pretty much the same with manhwa and manhua . Maybe the authors are trying too much to do "japanese manga"...if people with more knowledge about it could discuss it with me and prove me I'm stupid and wrong , I would be very pleased . |
