In the case of North Korea the reason of a bad comedy movie might be ridiculous, but what happened below that surface is decades of impoverishing embargo, hundreds of provocations over it's territory, deformation of the history of the Korean War, and several others. What has to be taken into perspective is what also happened with Russia right now, which US is currently waging economic war against. Ruble has fallen more than half of it's value, Russian assets in NATO countries are threatened, oil prices fall so low caused by US dumping their reserves into the market. US is trying to make a huge attrition to Russian covert-war in Ukraine, by risking it falling into a full front war. This is where China and Japan resolves is tested, whether they can stand their ground or not. Because North Korea threat is a lucrative invitation to resume open hostility in Pacific to destabilize the whole East Asia region. North Korea is, unfortunately, holds the key to the region security by maintaining the status quo. Any shift of that position would spill the whole bucket. North Korea knows this, for them is not a matter of winning the war, but about causing at least the equal amount of collateral as possible by escalating it into a bigger conflict, they didn't aim for 'another' korean war, with current world condition they were expecting a new pacific theatre that didn't make it during the previous cold war. |
