Because, as we all know, detonating several explosives in the largest metropolis on the planet and threatening the use of plutonium is all just a bunch of pranks and silly games. I remember when my friends and I did that back in highschool - we just gave back the radioactive material we stole from a facility in West Texas to the cops after blowing up the Willis Tower and several oil refineries. Rest assured, we had quite a few laughs after all that went down. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WmRQfL_Ms-E/UuIbld-mPOI/AAAAAAAAAeQ/ADt4GKJAxYU/s1600/JSBTl.gif Perfect response. |

Up until now there weren't any major flaws, however please someone - explain to me just how did five target two people among thousands present on the airport? Just because they weren't workers there? Hell, 95% or so poeple in there weren't employees as well >.> I hope there won't be any more illogical elements in the next episodes... |

I could be wrong but I think it`s because Five knows what Nine and Twelve looks like and she has super senses so she can pick them out of all of 100s of monitors in the surveillance room. I have to watch it again though. |

The government needs to be in fear and can't do anything to stop them. Now, if they blow up a place and people die...they are gonna be labeled as enemies. So far, they've been playing games but a death is gonna change the views of the public into a negative light and no one's gonna listen to them. This goes hand in hand at the problems of no listeners and police creating campaigns to adivse against anything they have to say. But they are already labeled as terrorists by the public and the police. People were already injured in the subway accident. Nobody besides Shibazaki and higher officials knows that they are trying to convey some message. BRK25 said: Also, remember that Five is part of the FBI and not from the Police Department. Tot he public, they think it is Sphinx and killing innocent people is gonna be blamed to Sphinx and not the police department. Well, yes due to not solving but the bombs are gonna create problems. And if you read the words out of their mouth, they said so themselves, it might be a trap and know they might be caught but they'll go in willingly to defuse the bomb. But you saw their items? They had grenades, flares, wire cutter and other items stashed in that box. They're not going in light. Ok, we'll see what they're up to in the next ep, but didn't they already figure out that Five and the Japanese police work together? Otherwise, how could she turn off the mobile communication in previous ep? It should be pretty obvious for them that higher government officials that they are trying to denounce by their terrorist actions already know what they are planning to do and want to stop them by any means. What I'm trying to say is that Five's actions have already compromised Nine and Twelve, and them coming and defusing the bomb won't change their public image anyway. If I got it right, Shibazaki already figured out it's not them who set up the bomb at the airport. |

This. Even if they didn't solve the riddle, they could say, "Oh look, a copycat made a lame riddle. We have nothing to do with this. In future you should know to wait for our next exciting video!" Additionally, they could have created another "bomb threat" somewhere else, to add support to the idea that the haneda one was nothing to do with them. Even though nine said the police could still blame them if they denied culpability, I think a good counter video by nine and twelve could convince at least a majority of people that they weren't responsible. The convoluted explanations that some people have come up with to defend the plot holes demonstrate just how bad the holes are. Until now, this show has been very realistic. Mostly correct bomb chemistry and computer stuff (though the method for successful reverse hacking of nine's PC in a previous episode was questionable.) The building layouts accurately reflected real buildings in Tokyo (was surprised to see places I had been on a holiday). But this whole five thing is unbelievably lame – she comes in on a flimsy pretense of being an FBI agent totally out of jurisdiction with no justification, is extremely rude and condescending to the Japanese authorities who continue to cooperate, and she appears to have a super-human ability to interface with computers. The chess game is the kind of crap I'd expect to see on a lame 90's hacker movie, not this show. |

The whole airport chess game is cool and all, but what did they mean by "If we win the game, the location of the last piece should tell us where the bomb is"? How could a whole chess game be planned out in order to ensure that there was only one piece remaining in a predetermined location? Also I wonder who the seiyuu for the male FBI agent is, he's pretty convincing. (As a foreigner speaking Japanese, that is.) The continuation of Nine's dream was well done. Looking forward to learning more about Five. |

It's all in context sir. You must rea dbetween the lines and don't expect it hand fed. Police can blame them by saying they were lying and bringing a false sense of security. Combined with the fact that if they placed another bomb and two bombs go off without the police going to save it, then there's two parts of the cities to be blown up and only one group to blame. Surely no one else has been able to explode a building or area of Japan with precise planning and perfection like these two have. Also, who's to say what a terrorist say by discussing them as fakes and not the ones placing the bomb will believe? That'll minimize casualties, that's certain. Or five go Psycho and blow up the place for going against protocol the second the video goes viral, she wants them to come to her in fear that a bomb might go off. If you saw Episode 4 and 5 on how everyone watched them, curious to see what they'll do next, it screams to me that the public likes to listen and see what is going on. Like a personal game show they are involved in and trying to figure out the results. The recent blast did affect their judgement and perspective from the public' side however. Even if they didn't intend to have it go off. I say no, they don't know if Five and PD are working together cause they know Five's calling the shot, she has authority and single handedly destroying their plans. Their more afraid of one person than they are of an entire organization. While Shibazaki knows, he doesn't like the idea that he can't do anything and knows something corrupt is going on and nobody trying to go against the system. It annoys him. And the massive EMP is uncertain. We don't know if she did it herself or help from the police. I'd like to get to the bottom of it. The only person who knows what Sphinx is after is Five and she hasn't told a soul cause she likes to play games. I just think it is part of her character to be heartless and the training made her a complete SOB to everyone not important. Her small dialogue at the beginning of this episode a clue of her nature. |

that is one annoying bitch. Unfortunately i see where this crapfest is headed. and its straight down the toilet. Ideally, that bitch would get murdered violently in the next episode while she squeals like a pig. but frenship will save them. She just wanted to be frens and continue their game. forget about her lunatic behavior and the fact she was going to kill hundreds of people, they either let this horrible walking cliche go, or she lets them go, and that is something i see way too often in animu. No payoff here. 12 eps...the only route that's worse than the current one, is if they drag this crazy lady out until the end of the show. Nothing could be worse than that. |

And also, judging by the PV, she's getting held at gunpoint, yes, gunpoint. I don't think she's open to having some childish friendly game where everyone is all sadden or just want to be understood. No, she's out for blood and don't care how she gets there. If she gets murdered or plays a trump card by killing them or in that sense, I'd be sick. Physically sick or something horrendous since four episodes remain. I only hope that the focus lingers on Sphinx and not too much on Five. |

It was nice to see that Nine managed to escape without any major injuries after the bomb exploded. Five's attitude and the way she talks down to others sure is annoying. So Five is taking their place as the terrorists and the detectives think it's them trying to attack that airport lol. At least Shibazaki is smart enough to doubt it's them this time around. I was also thinking that they could use Lisa since her face is unknown. I wonder if Five has a thing for Nine... |

Frenship looks pretty obvious to me. she just wants to play a game, nothing happens < that is the scenario that worries me the most. I do hope I'm right, because I put much of my trust in the director who's also the author. He hasn't failed me yet with breathtaking visuals or surprising depth of character and foreshadowing. I feel he would never half ass a show he created himself. Like Christopher Nolan and Inception, he thought of it entirely himself produce, directed and had entire control with the backing of well known actors and company. I expect Sphinx to win this round and get Five into a spiked up rage, and then they return to their videos explaining to others that anyone messaging them the bomb is the FBI and not Sphinx working with the Japanese Government. Or, Sphinx gets away, stops the bomb but end up with Lisa held or killed Or Sphinx can't disarm the bomb and are caught at the scene like they were inspecting to make sure it does go off and have some troubled responses. And somehow, if this happens and Nine and Twelve can't continue, i think Lisa's gonna step up and make sure the Plutonium does go off. Maybe it's me but she feels like the biggest star in this show to me, the one with heavy depth of character and will despite her timidness. |

I expect much of her in the future too. I have said it earlier but her aura is just like Akane from Psycho Pass. Still I wonder why they stole Plutonium. So far Nine and Twelve blow things up but never want to injure people. It doesn't make sense if they want to use plutonium to kill people... is it? |

They wouldn't have gotten the police's attention if they haven't had Plutonium, be treated as some bit rated terrorists but the plutonium shot alarms and show ones not to be trifled and be paid attention to, capturing the eyes and ears of the authorities. |

No more Engrish, I am begging you. Anything else. Anything is fine, just stop speaking English. Baaah, everyone on this show has been interesting up to this point. Five is, in my opinion, as bland as it gets. They had interesting idea, interesting anti-heroes, a cop with f-ed up history, a girl that just wants everything to end. And then they add a super-awesome girl from their past with no personality simply because they needed worthy adversary. I am sorry, call me hard to please, but I don't see anything interesting in Five whatsoever. In the sea of interesting and non-generic characters she's as cliche as they go. Still a great show :) |

Hell, it's been six episodes and Nine, Twelve, Lisa, and Shibazaki haven't been fleshed out yet. |

Sh'es a Japanese born girl and you are telling em you can speak a language seamlessly in another country? My mom and dad have been here for twenty years, foreigners and let me tell you, only my mom manage to speak English clearly but not to a higher level of a native. She still struggles and have an accent. My father speaks in one word or struggles heavily and they've been here for twenty years. You guys ask way too much. I can UNDERSTAND what she's saying outside of the subtitles. Clarence is a Japanese Translator and bodyguard cause he's British I believe. And everyone hating on five. I remember when Nine and Twleve came out, they said they were bland and typical archetype. Now they have a lot cause of characterization and interactions to show their motives. I pray they don't do a flashback in the next episode, stay with the action and thriller. If anything, thirty seconds to one minute of a flashback because no one's got time for that. |

Chess???? What the fuck is that shit man How would that even work??? The fuck??? NGNL all over again?? HUH???? booooooo It's like the same shit in ARISE: shitty character design = shitty character. This is why nothing good ever comes from America. Retarded Nate River, retarded Five. Shit. What a pissoff. migohunter said: Why can't people just give Five a little more time to develop? Right on the first episode, I already found Nine, Twelve, and Lisa VERY interesting. From the moment Five first showed up in the present, I knew I'd be very irritated while watching, and lo, it has come as it has been predetermined. |

The FBI really have a lot of free time... ''Hey, let's play a chess game involving a ton of civilian in a foreign country!'' Five sure have a lot of power. Also, dat engrish... As a french canadian, it's pretty much how I sound when I ask for direction or whatever in U.S.A. xD Poor Lisa, still being threated as trash. But she's so cuuute! Nine and Twelve are as fast as Agent 47 to infiltrate or change costume... As some already said, I may be shit at chess game, but their move seem all kind of wrong. Since whites always move first, the knight shouldn't had made two move... I wonder if Shibazaki, Nine/Twelve and Five will end up all in the same place, doing a mexican standoff! |

I'm sorry, but if 9 is supposed to be some kind of genius, how come he made an illegal move and made the knight jump an extra square? I'm pretty sure he'd be disqualified in a real chess game. I mean, you'd assume he actually knows how to play chess... I guess it's a minor detail, but I don't think anyone involved with this anime has played a game of chess in their lives. |

Wake_Up said: rasenshiruken973 said: Hmm I'm a little disappointed. The quality has been dropping steadily in the past couple episodes. I don't like Five's character at all. It's that cliche evil genius that I've seen many times before. Kind of takes away some of the realism this show has been building up. It's like it's trying to look more intelligent than it really is. I've had it at a 10/10 for first 2 episodes, then 9/10 and now 8/10 which is very disappointing considering that it doesn't look like Five will go away soon so I don't know how it could pick up again in the remaining episodes. Unless they pull out something truly unexpected and mind blowing... Pun not intended. I agree with what you said. To add to it, this show in my eyes is basically Death Note 2.0. Which is great, I loved it... until Near showed up. Five has the same exact character personality. Both psychotic with child-like minds, neither exhibit the will that L and Shibazaki do. They just show up and they're super humanly smart just because. Neither of them able to win without outside help (L's work before Near showed up, Five only understanding Nine's thought process because of their association as kids. Shibazaki and L go solely on their own intelligence. Hell, Near and Five even have the same stupid design. Please, Shibazaki, Nine, Twelve... Lisa, someone, fuck up Five and save this show. That's exactly the reason I gave Death Note an 8/10 when the first half merits an 11/10. It's a shame if it does go down that route. |

I think this chess game at the airport was a little bit too much. The engrish was funny but at least they tried (unlike in some other series). |

its clear five is one psycho b**ch but yet to understand why but there is time for that, and tbh pieces have been put together slowly already so i'm confident that all will be revealed, admittedly a chess game wasn't very unique (especially coming off the awesome mythology riddles) but let's see what they do with it! |

skudoops said: I didn't understand was what was the point in playing this "game". Why not just go and capture them? Also who the hell would allow the US government to blow up one of their airports? That is dumb on so many levels and not to mention would cause huge international uproar if the information leaked. I'm also surprised that no one even questioned the fact that the message for the bomb was delivered in an utterly non characteristic fashion i.e via text rather than a video with the two of them like it was before. |
