Yeah the hype is killing me. Gotta look at some pictures at least.

Well, there's a possibility that that's where the flaw of the show begins. At first it's seemiingly a simple show, about some terrorist's story. Episode by episode their mysterious reasoning is starting to be unveiled but then suddenly we get introduced to Five. From a viewer's perspective (and I speak for my personal opinion from here on out) it seems sluggish to intentionally change the shape the show is supposed to take. You either make it simple, linear and thorough (ex. most of the shows) or you make it complicated and full of clusterfuck mystery from the start, only to reveal the plot twist in the final 5 minutes of the final episode. (ex. ergo proxy)

Imo, ZnT tried to do a mix of these things, which is not bad per say, but it felt lacking. Apart from Five's presence in the show, I felt like Lisa was pretty insignificant as well. From my perspective she was introduced as a possible candidate that will make a big impact on the show halfway through the show (or maybe even at the final episode). But she didn't, she was forcefully used just as a "plot device" here and there to trigger various actions from Nine and Twelve. Again, I don't find this a flaw, but rather an inconsistency with the show itself. We get so much background about her yet that potential that was developed didn't get any use at all.

"I do suggest you looking over the forum..."
- Is there any specific thread you're hinding at or the forum in general?

I have been thinking on starting Utsuro for a long time now but it keeps getting postponed due to my anxiety to read some manga from currently (disappointing) airing shows, such as Tokyo Ghoul and/or Terra Formars. Perhaps in a month or so I'l look it up if the next cour doesn't have any interesting manga for me to read.

Code Geass, I'l agree, that show is a masterpiece on its own. I specially liked the chess-analogy on it aswell considering I'm a chess fan myself. Anyone who says Guilty Crown is better than CG is really an idiot, in my eyes. Kinda off-topic but I see those kind of threads a lot these days, so I thought I'd say it, haha.

As for breaking your Top Five, Shiki is a very nice show if you haven't watched it, but it's a rather hit or miss show as it may appeal me and you as pure seinen fans, but not X or Y person as pure seinen fans as well. It depends on a lot of factors but I'd recommend it, it has a slow start which is what makes me love dark shows and it has a rather nice climax. That is not to say that it will break your top shows, but it has a good shot on it.
Kiseijuu started great, with a few minor changes here and there but the new art is definitely a plus (a lot of people say it's bad, but I disagree). I'l let you know once it has accumulated 5-6 episodes, will probably know by then if it's worth watching.
Hmm the old Fate/Stay Night by Studio DEEN was trash. The F/SN series is supposed to be watched first as well, so I see no problem in watching it first. However, I'd really recommend starting from Fate/Zero as it's essentially a prequel meant to accomodate F/SN. It's preference so you can choose whatever you want.

I know I know, to be honest I also get detracked from my initial ratings due to peer influence, as in initially I rated Angel Beats! (just an example) a 8/10, but later on changed it to 7/10. Reason to this was we were discussing with a few friends and found lots of flaws to the show, so I changed it to be more fair to other ratings as well.

Putting off-topics aside, you should really consider watching AoT, not because of "omgzz how c00l is dis showz0r" but because it's something different than what you see on your usual seasonal show (80% harem for christ's sake).

Also, ZnT was had the potential to be an excellent show, however to me the flaw was probably Ep05-E09, mainly due to Five's presence. She contributed almost nothing to the show, in my opinion, and made me think she was put there as a plot device, which even for that it was a really weak one too. Everything else though was splendid and I really liked that the twist was so simple yet so strong.

Exactly, it's that feel that you want to talk to other people when you watch either a terrible show or an amazing one. Infact I could relate to when I first watched S;G. I had this massive "void" for over a month, the void of knowing I had watched probably the best anime ever created animated. And I still place it on my No.1 because I haven't watched something that can trigger so many emotions out of me, I mean in the end it's just a show/animation.

I hope we get to meet each other on forums again, probably on Kiseijuu's or Fate/Stay night's, good day!

Despite not having answered your reply in the thread, I really value it as you're one of those that really don't consider an argument one-sided, nor are you as close minded as I thought! I have had quite a lot of fun tbh and it's rare to argue ((politely)) with someone over the internet, specifically on MAL. I hope you don't mind me adding you as a friend! ^^

PS: I have been really busy those past few days due to work, hence why I only reply to small forum replies and/or profile comments, so don't take this the wrong way, I have fully read your reply. :)

No problem. It’s probably midterm season after all :P

I’m going to be busy as well until the start of November, so I’m sort of glad there isn’t another show like Zankyou no Terror this season, or else it’ll eat up too much of my time X.X

Most of the shows this season seems like I can turn off my brain for the most part. Not trying to downgrade their quality, but they’re probably not as ambitious as Zankyou no Terror.

See you around! And good luck with college :)

My PTW list:
All the sequels, basically, and then Nanatsu no Taizai, Shigatsu Wa Kimi no Uso, and possibly the two MAPPA works. I've passed on Sora no Method because the writer seemed pretty third-rate. Please feel free to update me and correct me on the show if you do manage to watch it and like it.

Yeah Zankyou no Terror helped me understand anime better in general because I've talked to so many people about it, both fans and haters. As a learning experience, Zankyou no Terror will be a 10 in my book. The show itself... maybe around 7.5-8. Nonetheless I loved every moment of it and I really hope to see a show like that again.

I'm sure we will cross paths once more, but we may be on different sides then >:)
pakoko Sep 29, 2014 10:11 AM
Haha same. I don't think I've been so active in a forum besides for a show called Kyousougiga. Nothing really catches my eye this season, especially since most of them are going to be adaptations or sequels. I will check out the other MAPPA shows just to see how they do, but yeah the feeling's mutual in terms of wanting to have active discussions for a show.
pakoko Sep 29, 2014 10:02 AM
Yo, just stopping by to say hello :) Do you plan on being active as you were for ZnT for any of the shows this Fall season?
RLinksoul Sep 28, 2014 2:40 PM
If you're still looking for a show that handles character progression and such better than Madoka, I recommend checking out Princess Tutu.

It's a girly show with ballet as a central theme, but that doesn't make it bad at all. It's actually a deep, kinda mindscrewy story filled with classical music and symbolism and all that good stuff.

It's fairly dark, but not in a "People dying left and right, everything is so hopeless and miserable" kind of way.

Hey, saw your posts for ep 10 for ZnT and wanted to share this blog post. At first I was really flabbergasted as well at Five's suicide and it made no sense to me, but I think this guy does a really good job explaining what her potential motives and feelings were in his post:

http://moesucks.com/2014/09/18/terror-in-resonance-ep-10-nuclear-option/
pakoko Aug 14, 2014 7:19 PM
Haha yeah I'm amazed that so much attention and work are put into each episode. And like the guy said, the exposition takes no shortcuts or awkward narrations to explain what's going on. It provides viewers with more than enough clues to figure out what's going on.

I'll have to rewatch the second one some time because it is sort of lengthy, but from what I've watched he's pretty much pointing out how every single detail, cinematography, and dialogue help to tell everything the anime needs to rather than spoon feeding the audience everything.

Nevertheless, it's helped me better appreciate the show. Thanks for the links!
pakoko Aug 14, 2014 6:21 PM
Yo, it's nice to see you around ZnT forums. Thanks for clarifying plot points and defending the show! Also, interesting theories, especially about the opening with the whole Tarot card connections to 5, 9, and 12 :P
Kundalini Jul 31, 2014 12:53 PM
Tvtropes.. I started reading it, but.. :( it feels like it's a spoiler.. So I stopped reading it from the 3rd post. I don't want to know anything the anime itself hasn't revealed, it turns out to be a dampener and then hypothesizing/theorising is no fun then.
