It's still good albeit formulaic at times, and Vincent's progression through the story makes him come off as rather pathetic for the most part, plus the twist is suuuuuuuper obvious. |

I'd say go with Normal since it's not that difficult (aside from that arcade mini game, now THAT can be difficult). I'd rather recommend watching gameplay footage for the story than playing it on Easy. Isn't like the western Normal mode the actual Easy mode from the Japanese version, but they had to add an additional Easy mode for the western release since it is targeting the Persona audience, and Persona is known for being casual. |

| Nah, the Japanese one originally shipped without an Easy mode, and it was highly requested. The Japanese audience thought the game was too hard. Then, the Western release just came with all the difficulties out of the box. I think that's how it worked, anyway. |

Pretty much. Final Fantasy IV is a known case that was really hard in the Japanese version and was dumbed down in the North American version when it was first released. Which, if you ask me, is kinda insulting. But ah well; the DS version years later (kinda) makes up for it. Even then, the Persona games aren't even hard on the 'hardest' difficulty anyway. The Shin Megami Tensei games seem like they offer a greater challenge than the former though (I haven't played the SMT games though, but I want to; I have Strange Journey but haven't started yet). |

| I plan on playing through it atleast twice for different endings so im playing through it on easy first and then gonna change it up from there. I like it a lot so far, don't really dislike any of the characters and the story is intriguing. I agree that the controls are a bit clunky and make it harder than it should be but it's nothing infuriating, after getting used to everything you can do game mechanic wise it's pretty fun. |

It's tons of fun, frustrating at times sure, but it's absolutely rewarding when you start gaining ground against the enemy and start allocating resources in your base. | So Persona 4 is the best dating sim? Muwhahaha! But seriously, I heard the game is one of the best RPGs out there, new or old. I haven't played any Atlus games and from watching gameplay this looks like it has so much to offer and many aspects to explore. Ideally, I would like to get it for the Vita since Golden is the definitive version. However, it's the only game that I truly want on that machine so as excited as I am the price gets in the way. Is it possible to play Golden on the PS4 or PS3? Is there that much more content on Golden compared to the PS2 version? In any case, Persona 4 is presented differently from other RPGs that I'm used to. It looks refreshing and full of energy. |

Despite all my nitpicks, I find DarkS2 to be better than the first generally, especially in terms of atmosphere. I've platinumed it and am currently taking a break after logging about 130 hours on it already but I was pleased with it. Hoping future patches can refine it, I think it has room to improve still, but yeah, not much else to say that I haven't covered previously, as a Souls fan I was satisfied quite a bit. On a side note, I've had some hilarious PvP experiences since last time. I screwed around in Belfry Sol waiting for guardians while dressed in the Singer's Dress coupled with some other rather effeminate armour pieces and used power stance Caestus' to become the Cinderella Man, and my first invader was some guy spamming pyromancies and miracles, and I zipped all around them while slowly whittling at his health, then when he ran out, he started swinging a Greatsword (poorly) and I rolled right through, gave him a backstab and pretty much took out 70% of his health and killing him gloriously. Then the second time, there was a BP who came in but I was pushing him down while he kept spamming his Avelyn until he ran off when he got low health and tried to snipe me from the roof, then in comes a guardian who tries to pick me off but then gives up and runs up the tower while I'm still monitoring the BP sniping me, and after a while, I didn't see the guardian near the tower after climbing the ladder when I thought he would go for the BP. I climb up to get ganked by WoG and fall down, nearly dying, only to heal and head back to my original position and try to out-snipe the BP (and also the guardian now too). Things got pretty quiet after some time, and the guardian's vantage point wasn't the best (or he ran out of arrows, idk) so he just waited while he got booted out eventually for failing to kill me in time. Then the BP tries to aggro me close range again presumably fearing the same outcome, and tries to spin to win, but I completely dodged the scrub, made him my bitch with a backstab (with fists lol) and killed him. It was beautiful. |

| I'm getting bored of DS2. It's not a bad game but it is disappointing. It felt much of more of the same rather than being innovative. PVE is more of a chore than a fun experience. I wasn't immersed into the world as I was in DS1. Many of the environments aren't as spellbinding as in the past. However, Majula and Heide's Tower of Flame are areas that I love as I'm a sucker for sunsets and starry skies. The characters didn't give me much of a reason to care about them. Lucatiel of Mirrah and Gavlan of Wheels and Deals were the only NPCs that stood out. Lucatiel was cool and all but her quest line ended with me wanting more. Gavlan has some personality to him and I love it. Him guzzling down his mead in a jolly fashion makes me laugh. All in all, many aspects seem blandly borrowed rather than built upon. PVP is less enjoyable with "phantom range" (lag) and being stunlocked to death with no chance of escaping or preventing it for that matter since poise doesn't function. The arena with it's "Sorry, you couldn't connect." and long intervals between matches makes it a hassle so I fight elsewhere. For PVP in general it's not as fun as it was in the past. I hate to sound like a grump with my complaints but they've kept me from really getting lost in the world they created. There are fun moments as ChrisTucker points out. It's all about the stories you tell and make for yourself. That's where a lot of the fun is found. I was invading in the first bonfire in Drangleic Castle with my shadow set, chameleon, and a dagger. I turned into a box and scuffled on the wall before the hallway near the bonfire. The host goes to open up the large door to the final boss and his phantoms are close behind. As they make their way down I lurk in the shadows like Solid Snake at a safe distance. As I see them reach the fog gate, buff their weapons, and cast GMB I know it's time to strike. I unveil myself from my box camouflage as I backstab the host as he's entering the gate. When his phantoms notice me it's too late. They didn't know what hit them. Playing stealthily can really spice things up! I usually wear either the Shadow set (to feel like I'm in Ninja Gaiden) or the Desert Sorceress set (without the hood): http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc253/akechi419/DARK%20SOULS%202/IMAG0222.jpg http://fireden.net/4chan/images.4chan.org//vg/src/1397266955201.png (The description for this set is hilarious) For my right hand I often carry a dagger, an espada ropera, and a Dragon Slayer Great Bow. For my left hand I often carry a parry dagger, a Witchtree Bellvine chime (because it looks cool), and the King's Shield (for avelyn users). When I want to mix things up I replace the bow and the shield so I can powerstance dark falchions. Besides that I duel on the bridge in the Iron Keep but the area kind of hurts my eyes if I play there for too long since it's enveloped in bright reds and oranges. I also invade from time to time as well but dropping my red sign helps me find matches frequently. My favorite area to duel in is the Cardinal Tower where you fought the pursuer first. It gives you a wide area where you can really show your stuff. It's like the arena but without waiting as long. Also it doesn't blind your eyes. Hahahaha! |

| Well Im playing on PC and since im in the EU I am having a far better time in PVP now. Sure there is said phantom range (Its as if the sword get magically 10-20cm longer), but compared to the extreme lag I had in DS1 90% of the time its much better. As for the environments not being as spellbinding, I agree, altough I think the leveldesign from a paths perspektive is cleverer and better in general. Not artistiacally but I feel like the areas are more intertwined in itself. Not that much between the areas itself, and due the teleporting around the world doesnt really feel that connected on the big scale, more like a tree with Majula being the trunk and the rest the branches. But each area on its own is better designed paths wise IMO. As for the gameplay which is the most important IMO I think its better. The enemies are stronger and harder, which I like, cause Dark Souls was mostly a breeze getting trough enemies. Now its alot harder and I think its because of the stunlock and since there are always more enemies attacking at once. The bosses tough are easier which I dont really like. At least so far. Only about 2/3 trough with the game. As for the lore, idk. I never got too much into the lore of DS, Im not a story guy in games and I was too busy enjoying the gameplay. So I cant really judge. I think the voice acting has more character too it tough. So yeah both DS1 and DS2 have got their ups and downs, but DS2 is slightly better IMO because of the way better PC port (1440p at 60fps yay!), the better pathing inside areas and the IMO better design changes that also make the normal enemies harder. Artistically DS1 tough is superior and the Bosses so far too in DS1 where better. But there is one thing that I absolutely hate in DS2: Magick/Hex. God fucking hate that shit since it hits you now too when you roll, if you roll towards it. Cant roll beneath it anymore. And then it almosts oneshots you. God damn. |

Although 5 units for a shield is a little much for my playstyle. Then again, I only use shields to set-up parry, since I suck at first hit parrying. | I beat Batman: Arkham City (AKA 10/10 the Game of the Year) yesterday. I thought it was unapologetically mediocre in almost every way. I didn't really enjoy it too much. All the praise the game gets really surprises me, namely the people who think it has done of the best action game combat of all time; those people need to play more games. As far as hand to hand goes, God Hand sticks out as one that is many times better. Also, Sleeping Dogs took the Batman combat, refined it from monotony, and made it absolutely enjoyable. Slowly, I make my way through my backlog, and discover all the overrated games of the past couple years. |

I play quite a few (mostly Cave shooters), and I finally found DoDonPachi Saidaioujou in a store today (after searching stores for about a month, I broke down, and decided I had to go look in Akihabara). Unfortunately, this DoDonPachi is pretty otaku-pandery. My friend and I beat it three times, and the 360 mode has gross moe girls that hurt my ears when they talk. Why is that shit in shoot 'em ups? It seems to clash with the gameplay so much. Anyway, Crimzon Clover will be coming to Steam soon, so if anyone likes shmups, look forward to it. Every time I play it in arcades, I get my ass kicked. It's brutal. Behold! |
