Not to seem ignorant, but is there a difference between baseball and softball, other than the size of the ball and the way you pitch?

Is that like totally beside the goddamn point?
Not at all. Because if there's no real difference between the two sports, than it's not discriminatory at all, and people are just blowing hot air.

oh LLLOOOLLL xDDD
but actually, that's the most precise words to describe the atmosphere in this thread so far.. total hatred... I'd say the comments in this thread are much more overcliched that any romance anime's been cliche before ^^

anyway,
I ought to cry here something:
Ryuuji and Taiga ARE NOT RUNNING AWAY!!!! OPEN YOUR EYES ALREADY!!!

Ryuuji said:

00:20:13 If I run away...
00:20:17 Even after my birthday...
00:20:20 I'll still be a kid.
...
00:23:23 We're not escaping, we're...

The reason Ryuuji's going to his grandparents is different than running away. I'm not spoiling it, but it is differenet and it's crystal clear. Moreover, I'm convinced that Ryuuji told Taiga about it during the train trip (right after his words at 00:22:54 "Listen, Taiga...").

EXACTLY, what is "cliche" about this episode anyway. Just like someone pointed out before, this episode has instead been very original compared to the hundreds of cliche anime out there. This anime series is FAR from your typical anime series and I don't understand why people bash it so much right now.....
bla bla bla
The endless debate between fans and haters. At one point, after spending a lot of time on MAL, you just realize it's totally pointless.

They want to get married? How? It's true that women can marry with 16 in Japan, but they need the consent of their parents/caretakers for that. Now Taiga isn't exactly on the bright side with her family, so is she older than Riuji or did I miss something?

Anyway, the ep. was quite fast paced. They could have done a bit more romantic stuff (like kissing) before they got the marrying idea, but oh well..

Well, let's see what the next ep. brings.

Takasu wasn't this stupid in the start... and Ami encouraging them? I think spending so much time around Taiga and Minorin has finally gotten to her.

Takasu has always been a common sense kind of guy, not really clever at all. It's true that he just threw common sense out the window, though. Such is young love.

And Ami... well. Personally, I think she was tired of dealing with Ryuuji and Taiga and wanted them to go away for a while. Plus she didn't want to be shown up by Minorin's sudden contribution of her life savings.

*FTGT just read 14 pages (again) and needs some seconds to align his own thoughts*
......
*Ready!*
Hello everyone! ^^

First of all I want to address some words to the Minorin faction *sharing out tea and cookies as well as patting some crying people on the head*:

Ami was great this episode. The best lines for me:
"Its still to early for us to talk about life"
"From now on, for ten years, for twenty years, for sixty years life will go on!"

Jarmel said:

...
Besides who else is he going to end up with? He spent the most time knowing Taiga while Ami talked in circles around his head and Minorin dodged him for 3/4 of the show. Once again if you don't think Taiga is the best fit for him, fine. He however in his own fictional world disagrees and that is all that matters.

You summed that up very nicely!

noteDhero said:

I've said it before. It was clear as daylight that the show was headed toward Taiga/Ryuuji. But they just didn't give enough time to develop the relationship in a proper manner, let alone develop Ryuuji, who has only been reactionary in everyone else's growth. Everything was much too abrupt from the Christmas arc on. All of the great characterization, metaphor, and slow development was thrown out the window.

*nod nod nod*. In addition to that Im missing the humour in the last episodes. There are some glimpse of it here and there but thats not enough!

Regarding the fast pace of this episode:
Minorin to Ryuuji: "You like Taiga dont you?"
Ryuuji: "Yes"
Ryuuji to Taiga: "Lets get married"
Taiga seemed to agree
Somehow now I expected:
Taiga to Ryuuji: "Im pregnant"
Ryuuji: "Cool. I just finished the nursery" :P

Thank you so much Soulelle. I couldnt believe that I didnt see someone writing this until page 13 of the thread. People.... Ryuuji is totally aware of the fact that his first intention of running away is completely childish and would help nobody.
I havent read the novel but I think his plan is to reestablish the relationship between his grandparents and his mother as well as clear up the big question "How do we live on from now on?" all together as a big family!

Therefore dont lose your hope in Toradora and have faith in the end. They will surely wrap it up nicely .

Man I hated this episode... I mean not really the episode but that Takasu chose Taiga instead of minorin... I hate Taiga she's just another copy of Shana and Louise (I like these two but they should stop making the same character with diferent names oer and over...)

And wtf running away together?? omg this is going on the worst way i've ever imagined for this anime... it was so good 3 episodes ago...

Sorry this is only my opinion I do not mean this episode was some kind trash or something I only didn't like the way it seems it's going to end :s

moving way too fast all of the sudden. like 5 things happened during 1 episode.
i started questioning what takasu was thinking with the getting married thing, too sudden and no thought on how it can be done at all.

well 1 episode left, probably 2 months later type of deal.

Kinda sad how Minorin liked Takasu also.. and if Taiga and Takasu never met, there was a good chance for them to get together... (I supported TakasuXMinorin or TakasuXAmi)

I agree. I was kinda annoyed at the beginning because I thought it would just be another tsundere look-a-like, but the character development was very good. She grows from what seems like a selfish lil girl to a nice young lady.

Hmm that might be true but i've never seen a woman in the MLB so there must be some kind of reason to it all, maybe like the same reasons why women stayed out of the military for so long.

And just to clarify one point but i think hitting a softball is harder than hitting a baseball because of the way it's thrown but that's just my opinion. Also softballs are softer than baseballs which always made me think that's why women can't play baseball in school. Maybe they think they are to weak or something? Just my opinion. I really don't care about this subject anymore.

Also Emorin is not cool at all.

Yea Emorin pisss me off but i like her when she's all cheered up like she goes crazy on anything o.O
And about Taiga its still the same formula as both shana and louise even if it difers a little : selfish>more selfish>selfish+shy>... and so goes on...this character is always involved in a love triangle (well its not a triangle anymore in zero no tsukaima xD)
The main "guy" character will ALWAYS fall in love for this tsundere character... thats what anoys me :s

I'm relatively sure that the vast majority of women could not compete well enough to play MLB. Hell, only like .001% of men can compete well enough to play MLB. I'm sure there are some exceptions, but for the most part there are good reasons why sports are separated by gender.

Wow what's up with all the negativity on this board? Just finished this ep and I must say that it is one of the finest episodes yet. People complain about cliches, motives, story pace, blah blah blah. Seriously chill the fuck out.

There has to be an ending arc and to those complaing about the pace of the show need to realize that this was the second to last ep! Jeeze, you'd think that people would be happy with some closure to the series but noooooooo "its all happening tooo fast" <stfu

I love how just because the male lead ends up with the female lead, its considered cliche and everyone whines about it. Seriously, if he ended up with anyone other than taiga, everyone would be crying about it as well so stop being retards and just enjoy whats given to you ffs!

On a more positive note, really enjoyed the series and I look forward to the final episode.

This type of conformity I guess bothers people who just want to break out of the mold. Whatever, I'm fine staying with the majority. This series may not be perfect but I dont think it derserves the heat that its been getting.

Oh, since it's going to end, we can stop demanding quality from it?

That's a new revelation.

The main reason I was so sorely disgruntled by this episode was because the first 22, and nearly all of number 23, were really fucking great. And enter a single episode that turns the cast into idiots as to make the plot work, and speeds up the pace so that nothing sticks. Throw away the conflicts it has been building up and introduce a new one from nowhere.

It's bad story economics. It doesn't treat the story elements well. It makes them worthless having had there in the first place, because they just built up and then disappeared, or appeared. It's bad because the scenes (which were in some cases damn good material) are just glossed by, and at least I felt as if they no longer spoke as characters, but as mere plot vehicles.

That is what I thought. I am not going to chill the fuck out, nor am I going to tell you to agree with my judgment. Because obviously, our criteria for quality differ, and that's it. You do not find constant meticulous excellence in storytelling, where every story element is treasred and used well necessary; I do; and that's it. It had plenty of saving graces, I'm sure, they just were irrelevant to my criteria.

It's not a "it's just an opinion", though, it's a "I have good reason for my opinion. If you do, good for you, if not, then keep your silence in the valley of the tractates."

Nothing I say here hasn't already been said, I'm sure - I'm just throwing my thoughts together so you can just tl;dr this.

I loved this episode, but I must agree with many that the pace was way too fast. There was so much to digest in this one episode. To those who say "well, it's close to the end of the series", I say "well, make the series longer..."

While reading a few posts here, I had an automated system - if anyone says Ryuuji x Minori!! then they are worth ignoring. Seriously, what did you guys expect. And don't knock the story just cos it didn't go precisely to your liking. Appreciate/Debate what you're given then sod off and write a fanfic.

Some people seem to comment on a change in character. I didn't see any of this. Minorin has always been suppressing her feelings and they burst out; Ami has been mature as always; Kitamura was a bit of a non-entity; Taiga has been simply adorable as ever and Ryuuji... well okay, he was a bit odd. I mean, Taiga knew she loved him for ages, but he only just properly came to terms with his feelings and then he says lets elope. Just running away isn't enough? There was the stress of the encounter with Ya-chan and Taiga's mum, sure, but even I felt that saying marry me was too quick. The scene on the bridge probably needed to last longer.

One other comment: Minorin gave them her life savings. wtf. I don't care how good friends you are with someone, that's a bit much. Now, she's lost Taiga and Ryuuji AND all her money...

Finally, to those who are upset at finding people debating the final episodes: Take a look around, this happens for every anime. There are tons of people who did love this episode, but often the people with negative opinions of an episode are the most vocal.

I agree with probably 100% of what you said. I also enjoyed this episode a lot, but it certainly had it's flaws. The pacing was a little fast, but not enough to deter my enjoyment of the show. Overall it still kept the essence of what made it Toradora! and that's what made it a great episode, just like any other episode in this show. Plus Taiga and Ryuuji is finally official and up and running which is a plus for me. ^_^

srsly wtf everything just went on so fast i barely could catch up before another shocking scene reveals...

i don't really understand why ryuuji wants to run away in the first place, can't he just talk with ya-chan? and even more when ya-chan ran away instead. lolz confusing.

I don't get all the complaints.

I mean, it was a little fast, but there was nothing to make you say "omg, I'm not watching this anymore! This sux!"

Wait till the next episode. I have confidence that they'll explain what's going on over here.

And, thank you, person who finally said that Ryuuji and Taiga are NOT running away. For a while I was just wondering why everyone missed that.

I wish people would stop saying they want Ryuuji to end up with Minori/Ami whatever. It was clear from the start that he was going to end up with Taiga.

err.. this was really unexpected turn of events. As MPA said, the whole anime conveyed the feeling of friendship between them and now he proposed her a marriage out of the blue ?! I mean they weren't even dating (or maybe they were in some strange way lol) . Needless to say that the decision to run away was super stupid. I hope they will somehow fix things up in the last episode cause as a whole the anime was awesome but this last episode ruined it a bit .

By the way, Ryuuji x Ami FTW!

I'm totally agree with you.

This episode was great... full of drama, tears and happiness. I think that everyone knows which couple "win" before 24 episode starts ^^

FREAKIN' Toradora. This happens every ep, and I complain about it every time.

It goes like this : I talk about the show like it sucks and I really do think it's mediocre. Then I watch it, and by the end I'm BAWWing. :|

Anyway. Episode was so fast paced, it was unrealistic. TD! has been getting less and less realistic over the episodes, but nonetheless, it's nice to think back on how slow and innocent the show started. It actually irks me how this started as a light novel, because I can't often enjoy the manga past the point of the anime. This means long waits.

Bleck. At least the production is still some of the best around, as usual.

Well, no, they were going to run away despite whatever pretty sentiments they used to make it seem like they weren't, but then Ya-chan ran away (runs in the family, ne?) so now they're going to reunite the family. Do I have that right?

It wasn't so much the episode moved fast, as the characters were deliberately retarded past their normal range of idiocy to MAKE the plot work. That's where I have the problem. As someone said, Minorin lost Ryuuji, Taiga and her money. Yeah, I'm sure that's exactly what she wanted to happen from the beginning; to be left an emotional mess on a doorstep.
