This is still pretty boring. At least it's animated nicely but when I feel an episode is taking forever to finish it's normally not a good sign.

Let's hope they don't do the whole "I killed someone" equals "I couldn't save someone". Though is probably that she just killed someone by accident with her power.

If she's afraid of killing them why did she even tried to kill the MC in the first chapter? and why was she really afraid of hurting him if he's immortal?
Seems kinda stupid, not that I could expect much from this characters.

But well it could be worse.

At the end of the episode she tells him to not involve himself with her.
Wasnt she the one who couldnt stop chasing and stabbing him?

Then when he tries to socialize/befriend her, she lets that kind of bullcrap out - "I killed someone"?
So what, you were trying to kill him the last episode too... You dont rly seem to be very traumatically affected by it..

All in all, the main "heroine" isnt unique; Its like from a recipe:
add glasses
add clumsiness
add pseudo-traumatic past that explains all her behaviour
- voila, your generic heroine..

I get it, that some ppl - especially those who are new to the anime world and havent seen quality stuff, can enjoy it.. but rly..
that doesnt make it better!

This show doesnt seem to be worth watching atm.. Ill give it a few episodes before dropping

Have a nice evening!

Typically, you don't begin a relationship with someone when you chase them down with malicious intent. I don't think she was expecting him to be so understanding about it.
And since he's immortal she is fulfilling her obligations as a spirit warrior (hunting youmu) without actually killing them. She is nonchalant about it, because she knows there are no repercussions (excluding his pain) unlike death. I'm not too big a fan of the guilt from murder concept though.
And people throw around the idea of "generic" so much as if they expected there was something truly original that human eyes have not seen before.
I'm not some staunch defender of the show, but I think there are some answers to your questions.
“Suppose, gentlemen, that man is not stupid.”

As always, Kyoani's animation is amazing. Not only was the fight scene directed well, it was pretty ingenious swordplay on Mirai's part. Looks like her weapon is pretty versatile.

Looks like she's too weak to breach through the containment barrier thing, or at least see through it. Think she'll get stronger, or is she just the typical "strong/oblivious" protagonist?

Looks like this series will have cliffhangers at the end no matter what. I kinda miss Tamako Market's resolutions at the ends of the episode, but whatever. Gives me more motivation to watch next week :P

I hope the scarf warrior guy gets more screen time. He definitely acts nothing like I'd expected just from seeing him doing flips and stuff in the OP.

Nice action, but the episode was still very weak. Obnoxious Busty Mom, Knowledgeable Mysterious Dude, and the main pulling the typical, "I'm not allowed to be this happy," thing were all really stupid. I want to like this, but it's walking a fine (drop) line. Bleh.

pretty nice imo. the show is kind off a cross between Natsume Yuujinchou (but instead of releasing the monster's its more of like killing them), K-on (Main character is like Yui with Eyeglasses), and Deadman Wonderland (Honestly she has the exact power as the people in Deadman Wonderland specially Senji Kiyomasa's aka Crow's Blood Blade.

So far it has that thing that keeps me interested on watching the next ep. which is good.

Definitely agree with "it must be nice to have a busty mother that has a few screw's loose" haha :P

Most people missed the fact that her hands were shaking before she stabbed Akihito. Mirai believed Akihito to be a youmu/phantasm/dreamshade that possessed a human therefore mustered her courage and tried to kill him (this was before she found out that he was half youmu/human and immortal). After she found out he was half human/youmu, and was also immortal she just basically thought to herself "cool a half youmu/human, since he is part youmu basically this can serve as practice, and I already stabbed him before, so it's not as scary as killing a real one!" Of course this is based on pure speculation based on observing the events of the 1st episode. In due time the show will reveal Mirai's past so we can better understand her fear of killing youmu but we can assume she formed some sort of trauma based on killing a youmu in the past therefore is afraid to kill one now.

This is shaping up to look very interesting and enjoyable. I didn't expect KyoAni to start their show with a bang, but despite the first episode not being amongs the most exciting ones of the season this second one convinced me that they'll make good sue of the setting, and the characters I like too. Then again the only time I hated some of the KyoAni character designs were when they were doing key adaptions, they usually range from 'meh' to very likeable.
I probably regret this post by now.

There was some okay exposition at points though, but it's hard to tell where it leads as the show is so tonally inconsistent from scene to scene that it's entirely possible that the big reveal at the end about Mirai killing someone is played off by Akihito with a line like, "Whatever you did is in the past, I just can't stand to see a pretty girl with glasses crying at the same restaurant table as me" and her calling him an idiot or something while pouting.

This is my favorite comment yet and with a high percentage chance of it happening.

I certainly agree about the tone of this show jumping back and forth and Mirai's personality not being stable, I just don't know how to feel. I'm very on the fence with this show but this episode was certainly more interesting than the last one. I enjoyed seeing the new characters and the progression of the plot with that warning of the shadow youmu coming about.

He keeps performing multiple plastic surgeries on those Shingeki No Kyojin characters in a SINGLE chapter.
Yes, I've read up to the latest chapter of Shingeki No Kyojin manga.
Forced myself to read through the kidsketching chapters after the anime's ended. At least from now on, I only have to go through the hell once a month.

Full thoughts on the episode here:

  • LOL at Akihito's mother, he's so embarassed he could die.

  • What was with that scene at the start, seems like Akihito is hiding a secret

  • Plot is moving at snail's pace, I hope it picks up soon

Also why is MAL's page showing only 13 episodes for this show now, I thought it was 2-cour?

Sometimes it just feels like I'm the only one that is paying close enough attention to notice these things or else other people just don't care that much about these things, but when it's one of your leading characters it's hard for me not to notice. I really don't think I ask for much, but basic character consistency from scene to scene is one of them.
