Honestly, I think this is one of the best shows that I've ever watched. Never before I have been so highly anticipating next week's episode to come out. While there are some parts that have been slow, I think everything is all worth it in the end. They did try to fit too many scenes towards the end though, wish this was a 24 episode anime instead.

I'll give this a 10, since I enjoyed this as much as Code Geass and Death Note.

As far as I understand it, the significance of that book was to show that Kougami may have been slowly converted over to Makishima's way of thinking. Even though I disagree since it would be out of Kou's character, this is the way to make them look more 'the same' then they actually are.

Poster of those reasons came up with them by drawing parallels to the plots of Swann's Way and Psycho Pass.

I don't see how Kou will become the next Makishima. His life seemed to revolve around Makishima since Sasayan died. Before that he was an Inspector and enforcer of the judgement of the Sybil System. He can't sympathize with Makishima's goals in anyway because he never thought that way about the system. As Gino said, Kou could now be living a free and easy going life after fleeing. I doubt he'd start opposing the system now.

As I see it, his reading that particular book means he identified with it in the way that he know thinks killing Makishima wasn't worth very much after all (The book is about a guy who's so in love he turns a blind eye on the girl's terrible reputation. He sees her for what truly she is later on). He'd just been blinded by the thirst to avenge his friend.

I think he realized that Akane only kept one bullet in the gun xD

"I see... You are..." in league with the Sybil System. She has a gun but it doesn't have bullets. Which to him would mean that she's already been let on the secret of the Sybil System's real form and was ordered to keep him alive.

And I would like to think that after, he thought about how he and Akane are basically the same yet she refuses to destroy but instead protects the Sybil System despite knowing what it actually is.

what a great intense last episode, and when that beautiful piano music kicked in at the end, was really touching, i must admit some parts of the plot i didn't really get.. will have to re-watch this at a later date so i can get to grips with it better but my god i enjoyed it this one, to say its sci-fi which usually isn't my thing, psycho pass has taught me to take a risk! amazing episode going into my top 5 right now!

It was an overall great show. Makishima was a great villian if you can call him that but the ending was kinda stale. They just went a complete circle and ended up at the start of the anime.

8/10 final score. Woulda been 9 but i REALLY disliked Akane char design from start to finish. They tried to go for the cute design but it ended kinda "ugly" in my eyes.

I think that was a good last episode. I also loved the part where new Inspector was assigned and everything went like the beginning of the first episode.
And for series, I really enjoyed it. Every episode was interesting, animation was good (in my eyes) too. My score is 10.

there might be a possibility that kogami will put justice in his hands, killing criminals before mwpsb arrives, that would be a great plot for a 2nd season.

a movie to settle this 1st season would be much better than another 24-ep season, coz i guess that would be boring since the old man and kogami isnt on the team anymore..

Special thanks to Gabu for this amazing avatar & sig set!!

I'm so happy that they not only weren't afraid of killing some characters (some of which were my favs but won't hold it against them) but they also didn't go for a sappy happy ending. And Akane grew herself a backbone throughout the series. Although I never thought I would miss her innocnet expression it still hurt a bit seeing her become disillusioned. At least she is a fighter, go girl! And Kougami, don't let them find you again!
Somehow the show finished nicely with the stroy running full circle and coming back to the beginning.

The open ending did kinda disappoint me, but Kougami still lives and I'm sure tat something interesting will happen. I absolutely loved this show, very clever and the action scenes in the beginning of this episode were epic. I really want this to get a second season because the story just isn't complete yet, but from what I've read it isn't selling good at all... I guess only sex sells... unfortunately.
10/10 because it made me cry and because the story is epic, I may rate it down to 9/10 if the sequel sucks because right now it just feels incomplete.
I almost never read discussions after I made my post, if you want to reply PM me or post on my profile page.

No it doesn't, a movie would be appropriate a most. Other then that, it is perfect as is, especially for an original series.

There is no need for a second season. Urobuchi gave us the ending that the story deserves. Obviously a system like Sybil cannot be eradicated overnight. What we need is a prequel. I want to know who invented Sybil in the first place

That said, the line from Makishima is too ambiguous to know why he said it. It is maybe due to translation error, or original writing error, or Makishima losing consciousness himself.

I liked this ending. It could be better (Kougami needed more development), but it's interesting that in the end the series was most about how the characters dealt with the system. Akane is right; she acts as she believes and she can slowly change people perspective about the system.
Maybe I'm being too optimistic, but the ending is open for many interpretations on purpose, so... :)

9.25/10. Not as good as Madoka and lacked a bit of better planning (episode 12 was pointless, HYPER OATS stuff was too sudden), but Urobochi is proving his potential of writing for TV format.

Can't wait for Suisei no Gargantia now. And for that Toei movie that he is scripting, too.

P.s.: On a lighthearted note...

Strongest show in fall season definitely.

Last episode was a 4/5 for me. Didn't love it as much as I expected to.... I wanted a more concluded ending? Y'know.

Really good last episode, the fight metween Makishima and Kougami was definitely the best. I also like the very ending, as it reminds us of when Akane first started out.

For the whole first half of the season I didn't like Akane, she really didn't seem like she could handle the job. It wasn't until later that she finally knew what decisions to make.

Really great series, I also hope for a season two someday.
5/5 for the episode.

...okay, I kinda expected that, but still. Such an awesome villain. I'm thinking of wearing white tomorrow to show condolences.
Lol at Ginoza, he looks so much better without glasses, yet he says quite opposite.
The bedroom scene of Yayoi and that blond chick was rather unexpected, but very nice.
Anyway... pretty neat ending, although I expected something more depressing, I guess. Nevertheless, amazing show, apart from two or three boring episodes, it was thrilling, the animation was incredible and the plot simply awesome. 9/10.

Great way to end such an awesome series. Although I was looking for more of a chase between Kogami and Makishima. Oh well, still an epic knife battle between the two.

But that ending what like 5 seconds? I hope that's hinting some sort of a sequel. Considering Akane is the head Inspector now. That would be an interesting role to watch. Plus Kogami is still out there some where, and there's always a nice new villain to throw out there anytime. I welcome a 2nd season with open arms if they announce it.

Oh yeah, forgot about that one. Anyway, the purpose of that one bullet could still be to shoot at Makishima's leg and immobilize him. Then she'll use the Dominator to paralyze him and deliver him to the Sybil System maybe?

But 'I see... You are...' is an accurate translation, I guarantee.

Yeah, looks more like Saiga now that I look more closely.

And to theories, because I like theories: Saiga-sensei's there bc he's also recruited by Sybil System. His knowledge on profiling people will be useful in determining people's Psycho-Passes and Crime Coefficients. They desire his brain, and if he refuses because they'll arrest him. (Idk if he's criminally asymptotic, prolly not, since he did say to Kougami, that the next time they-- whoever Sybil System sends-- check up on him, he'll be done for, which means his Pyscho Pass will have been scanned cloudy then. So SS now strikes up a bargain: his brain be part of the system, or he dies nao.) Or something.

I honestly don't want a second season that's why I'm trying to wrap everything up in my mind. >_< Hopefully, there'll be some word of god from Urobuchi himself to clear this up.

Hands down the best show of its season and maybe of all the 2012 shows. Although I think a sequel is unnecessary since Urobuchi has made his point quite clear, maybe a short OVA or film with Kougami as the villain would be pretty neat.

Oh, and they had me with the Shion in bed scene. I totally thought it was Makishima and then it turned out to be Yayoi. I expect a couple of doujins to come out of that!

My God, wasn't expecting that. What a fantastic ending! I'm glad Urobuchi didn't pull any punches. Akane, Kougami, Makishima, and Sybil all represented various clashing philosophies and I love how none of them compromised even at the end. On top of that we got the final piece of development for each of the characters, even the supporting ones which surprised the hell out of me.

I love the whole side-story Urobuchi explored here between father and son. Ginoza and Masaoka's final moments brought tears to my eyes. I'm glad Ginoza finally understood why Masaoka let Kougami go. It was for the same reason he chose to catch the explosive. Everything he did was for his son. As sad as I am that he had to die in order for him to realize it, I'm happy for Ginoza for finally finding that peace he's been looking for his whole life. He's grown to accept his position as an enforcer, and gained a newfound sense of security with himself. I even saw a bit of potential there for Akane and Ginoza as a little more than friends.

The ending was far better than I could have expected it to be. The loop was the best part. No matter how you try to cut it, the cycle was destined to continue. Of course it has evolved to a new form. Everyone has grown so much over the course of the series. I feel like a big group hug is in order. I'm starting to think Urobuchi has a thing for bittersweet endings.

Bravo! This one's going down in the books for me.

The anime started off really strong, but it became kinda lame at the end. I'm not saying it was crap, but it felt like nobody really grew up as a person or had character development that much (except LOL NO GLASSES), Akane was Lisa Simpson all the way to end. Plus I didn't have any emotional bond with any character, not sure if I'm the only one who felt that way. Like everybody have been saying, the ending felt more like the ending of one arc & a quick intro into the next.

Ok, I got to admit, this almost made up for the last episodes giant plot holes. The only thing that was weird was the laughter during the talk with the System towards the end. Made no sense to put that in, really.

Anyways, all things considered, the System is damn reasonable (We won't kill you or anything. Go on with your life, just, you know, don't go around talking about state secrets). It also completely debunks the argument that someone has been trying to make that it tries to hide itself for it's own benefit. It clearly states that it's intentions are for what it perceives is the best for society.

Honestly, from a practical standpoint, the anime hasn't really portrayed the system in a negative light (except for the psycho moment where it tried to have Gino execute Kougami. I have no idea what that was about, it was completely out of character for the system, along with the laughter I mentioned earlier). Yeah, it doesn't always make the right call, but it does it darn often, and it's trying to improve itself where it doesn't.

I felt that the ending was slightly better than average. It was a happy ending outcome that many of us expected, but believed there was going to be more. I would love it if there was a certain twist/cliff hanger at the end leading to a possible season 2. However, I understand that costs and what-not can be the ultimate deciding factor. So I'll give it a 8/10.

I liked the ending how they show 2 months later, the exact same concept of when Akane joined in the beginning of the series, however is it just me or does she seem more emotionless now? I really dislike her as a character...

Wait.. wut? Those two are lesbians? Wtf were they doing naked together on a bed o_o

Ginoza's development was nice, him as an Enforcer is awesome now.

7.5/10, rounded up to 8/10. Series was better in the first half, went downhill at some point, not to mention the bad animation of the recent episodes.

Could of been done better in my opinion.

There seems to be a possibility of a season two, but somehow, I doubt it. However that tease at the end of Kougami was something.
