What is with people in flashbacks, my god this is called "character development", learn the term it might do you'all some good.

Would you rather have lifeless clueless characters just beating the shit out of each other, not knowing who they are or their background their relations with other characters, their personality, what makes them tick, etc.

The reason you like gaara so much is because of his backstory, his past and how it ties into the present and how much he has changed over the course of the story. Being a jinchuruki and freeing himself from this chains of bondage and become the man he is today. The reason you like kakashi so much is because his horrible past, his personality traits and how he passed on those teachings to his pupils. How he became known as the copy ninja of 1000 techniques. The origins behind his sharingen eye. The reason you like orichimaru so much is because of his detailed past, how he became a deranged and maniacal serial killer bent on trying to achieve greatness in the shinibi world by gathering as much experimental data as he can to create the ultimate jutsu and how his ambition ties into the story and his connection with saratobi, sasuske, and kabuto.

The reason you like minata so much is because of the great legendary things he did in the past, his views and how they changed many of the shinobi during his era. his willingness to protect the village from a great threat and his amazing fighting prowess when he goes up against madara. The reason you like naruto so much is because of his background, same as gaara's born with a jinchuruki who everyone hated in the world, he grew up with no parents, had to live and learn what the real world is like and in the process had to over come the power of the nine tails. Over come the feelings of despair, loneliness,l and what it means to have friends to protect and ultimately his dreams of becoming hokage and the many changes and growth he has has gone through to get their. Also how his ability to finally earn the recognition he deserves through the entire show, is what defines the character naruto. Some people don't see it that way, they consider naruto just a pointless annoying brat that relies on just his charka forms to do anything, but if you look at from a different viewpoint, the naruto we knew from the start of the story to the current naruto, he has matured in alot of ways since then and is not nearly as level headed as he was before.

With out any of these back stories or devolopment in these characters, what defines who they are, thier ambitions, thier goals, thier past, thier personalities, believe me, you would not care for them nearly as much. they would feel very generic and it would be like bleach all over again, if thats what you like, is action, all action, to each their own i guess. Anyways im done with my rant LOL
