..... About that...

ISN'T WHY WE HAVE THE FIRST HALF OF EPISODE 13?!?! BECAUSE THIS SHOW IS NOT EVA, WHERE THEY CAN EXPECT THE FANS SPOT ALL CHARACTER'S FLAWS AND PARTS!

THIS IS SAO! WHERE A LARGE PART OF FANS ARE MMORPG PLAYERS, ESCAPISTS, AND KIDS!

Because obviously crying while charging to her death is "no hint". (Seems like most people didn't catch it... Oh yeah... They only see the dual wield... And obviously they forgot about the part where Asuna cling on to Kirito, crying for a very long time.)

As much as I dislike SAO's overall writing, I actually applaud them for dropping so many hints on Asuna's character.

Uh Like said, it was obvious that she's the over-emotional type...that proves nothing on her superb dependency. Several females in anime are over-emotional (Even Claire from Claymore is), does that make her dependent? No. (and she's had several charges of death)

This is something you expect from a character like say Misa from Death note..or from someone who has truly lead a hellish life (like casca from berserk). Asuna has no real reason to be this dependent other than for the sake of being a pathetic moe character.

I didn't gloss over it.

He was shocked, because his GF is saying she'd quit life if he is to die.
He didn't take her along because he didn't want her to kill herself, he take her along because he know he's been very narrow. PLUS ASUNA SUPPOSED TO GO WITH HIM IN THE FIRST PLACE!

Then she reminded him they are in SAO
Where quitting progress = quit life (Arguably, this also stand true in real life)

Yes the fisher obviously quit life, or did this anime forget the first part of the episode? (considering it spent time praising his life style, and it's obvious he has no motivation to further progess in the game).

No it seemed more like he was shocked because he was scared he would lose her. It glossed over it because he didn't talk to Asuna about not saying things like that...you just don't gloss over stuff like that. If this was Naruto even Naruto would punch sakura in the face for saying anything like that haha.

But yes obviously everyone who is not helping to progress through the game has obviously given up on life and should just kill themselves am I right?

In fact I thought the point of this show was that there wasn't suppose to be any real differences between real life and SAO. So yeah...not sure where your going with that.

And if you bring up the "our bodies have a time limit" is total made up bs. Coma patients can last upward to 30 years (probably because that time they would be dead regardless), the author was insane for making that a plot point.

Overly-emotional... Yeah, maybe you can see it like that.

I could answer this very easily... But this is so stupid I don't feel like answering at all... So I'll just say....

WATCH THE DAMN EPISODE AGAIN! Especially the part before they left floor 22!

The fisher did stated that he did quit. (Re-watch if you need)

The difference between Naruto and Kirito is...

Naruto never run away... He have every right to punch Sakura

Kirito haven't stopped running... Asuna told him to not run. HE HAVE NO RIGHT TO HIT ASUNA!

If Kirito hit Asuna then, then he is a small, puny coward of a man. Because he can't accept that fact that he's running and Asuna is stopping him.

Think about it for a bit.

The fisher seems to live just fine, he quit on the game but he's still enjoying life (like they said). I really don't see the difference.

Asuna is equally as cowardish for using such an underhanded method to get him to stop running, so yes his action would still be justified.

It would be like if in Steins;Gate if Kurisu got Okabe to stop running from the problem at hand by saying she would kill herself. That would be absurd, but no she convinces him by simple talking (despite much heavier and absolute consequences).

Wow... Why am I even doing this... Oh wellz

There is no "ONE SCENE" where it reveal that she'll kill herself if Kirito is to die, you have to pick up her character through numerous hints. This is not a typical Shounen like Dragon Ball.

Off the top of my head... Go back and watch...
Episode 2.(Her character)
Episode 5.(Her tantrum)
Episode 8.(The build-up)
Episode 9.(Dependance)
Episode 10... 11... 12... Besides 6, she almost always have a part of her character revealed...

EDIT: Oh wait, my bad... 6 actually revealed a little about her too, though it's only positive stuff

Are we seriously watching the same show here? Or is dual wielding all you remember?

Asuna is equally as cowardish for using such an underhanded method to get him to stop running, so yes his action would still be justified.

She didn't use it as an underhanded method. Because even she herself do not know what she might do if Kirito is to die. (Episode 9)

Please... next time when you're watching a show... Do pay attention to smaller, mundane details.

I don't even like SAO that much and I pick those up.

P/S
Hold on...
Ah... you're a shounen watcher... Made sense, made sense...

Watch more character driven show, like Tamayura, Aria, Natsume Yuujinchou, Kobato etc etc.

Or show that require you do do more thinking... Like
Serial Experiment Lain
Shigofumi

Re-watch
K-On! and try and notice the simple changes in Yui... or you can try NGE again.

You'll learn to pick up small details. Believe me, having this habit while watching on-going shows do add a lot to the enjoyment.

Episode 2: This shows her being completely out of character and she never acts like this again, making her just seem like a jarring character from the get go. If she ever acted like this again IT MIGHT MAKE SENSE.
Episode 5: Her being a tsundere proves nothing
Episode 8: The build up? The build up of her being a tsundere?
Episode 9: Yes that's dependence, too bad her relationship that got her to that point came out of nowhere.
Episode 10, 11, 12: This shows her being lovey dovey and attached but not so dependent that her life depended on Kirito (mayber her happiness but not her life).

So yeah if you don't catch the drift, being suicidal is a deeeeep psychological issue. I'm not saying their aren't hints of her being dependent, but they over-exaggerate the weakness of her character with how little they've ended up giving you.

How is saying you better let me or I'll kill myself not an underhanded method? Who can say no to that?

And yes I've watched all those shows, and they are actually well written and have actual consistency with their characters. Don't compare this show to Mushishi, it shouldn't even be in the same sentence.

Let's face it...even friggin berserk takes issues like suicide and death more seriously than SAO. (Even HOTD takes it more seriously, which is frankly just sad).

I compared this show to other shounen shows because that's what it is...

So... you resort to use a word that you don't even know...

... I give up.

Go back and watch Naruto or Dragon Ball. I'm wasting my time here.

For the record, I never compared this to Mushishi. I'm merely stating that it's a nice show to watch, and a good anime to see deeper characters.

"You better let me or I'll kill myself"?
Go back and rewatch, I'm getting sick of this.

"I compared this show to other shounen shows because that's what it is..."

Great. A shounen show can't even be smart now?

Congratulation... You almost convinced me that you're a troll..

I saw a post that says the first half was filler. Well, it was not. Read the novel if you don't believe me. :P

This episode... amazing doesn't even come close to describing the last parts of it. Perfect OST, stunning visuals, great job of the seiyuu- all of it created the perfect atmosphere for this scene and the ones to follow shortly. Plus looks like volume 3 und 4 will be animated too so... excuse me for a moment while I go all fanboy kyaaa and shit. :3

Yep. Potion time. One of the reasons they rotate tanks and dps, so that they can heal up. Truly fun concept, I must admit. Makes it far more diverse than merely tank and spank.

This episode was awesome. Love the little romance parts especially when they were in the bed saying how much they care for each other and how at the knights HQ where Asuna said she would wanna be with Kirito forever.

Dropping SOA if the next episode would be dull as well. Nothings really worth seeing in SAO anime. I'll just stick in to the LN if that happens as the adaptation leaves a bad taste. Seeing the anime is just disappointing. LN was not perfect but at the very least I could say that it really is good.

I was expecting a good action since it is an mmorpg based anime but to my disappointment, there isn't anything worthy enough to be called action. I doubt even with the cliff hanger of episode 13 it'll be another blunder. Indeed this isn't like those battle shonen but at the very least at least make a direction on it's concept. Light Novel can never portray a good combat since it is using words as a medium and no matter how extravagant they put it to words it'll always lack.

SAO art was average, story presented was dull over cliché stuffs that people suck eveytime, battle was also dull, characters development were also dull. cheap romance presentation.

I understand that all things would have been better if this anime wasn't cramped into 25 episodes. If it were at least twice as much episode then it would have been mind blowing. I see that the main objective of this anime adaptation is to promote the the light novel, and probably to promote it for their future projects like games and other SOA merchandise and stuffs. And that's why it has become annoyingly over popular. I just do hope after this series has ended they would never forget that they called this piece as a good anime. and also to sites who promote them too much I hope it all ends well.

I'm not open into argument like for some SOA fanboys. it'll be an endless loop of stupidity in which it'll start with this:

The anime is bad => Read the LN => The Light Novel also has some inconsistencies and plot holes => because it is a fiction and shounen which is concentrated for younger years => I'm not expecting it to be perfect but at least a smart plot would do in the LN or anime => Go watch something else if you really hate it that much.

Welp! After much thought, this was the episode that made me drop SAO. Too much drama and femininity going on here between both the hero and heroine. I'm sick of Asuna crying every episode, and I'm sick of Kirito having absolutely no flaws, which makes him quite the unlikable character imo. With the money invested in the anime, it had potential... But now it's time that I parted with it for good. Wish I could say it's been real SAO, but... it wasn't. :P
Maybe I'll pick it up in a few years when I've got nothing better to do.

The amount of idiotic shallow kids who expect 7575785758 fights per episode and are calling character development a "filler" sadden me very much so...

Anyway...

Another uber awesome episode.

its fascinating to see the different mentalities of people stuck in this environment for two years and just as I guessed, this pretty much proves Kirito and Asuna's emotional bond helpiing them to retain their sanity.

Kirito's freak out was enjoyable. it added even more flaws to his character and showed that he is NOT perfect, making him even more relatable and interesting.

Technically he could be super OP and still have a bunch of flaws. Take Casshern in Casshern Sins (Even more OP then Kirito but tonsss of flaws).

I think the problem is his only real flaw is that he doesn't trust people enough, which isn't really shown strongly because he still socializes and helps them out enough. This in line with his boring personality just makes him a shallow character.

Though at the very least Asuna shows that she has plenty of flaws at this point..yeah and she needs to be thrown out of the show haha.

He does have flaws. This episode single-handedly showed that he is actually quite weak and vulnerable. He even suggested running away from the front lines, is that something a strong person would do?

OH NOES, he totally suggested such a thing. It doesn't matter if he soloes every fucking monster, player and admin afterwards because he suggested that. He is soo laid-back, cool and amazing!!!!111

...this is pseudo-characterization. Until we are SHOWN actual flaws, Kirito's own words are worth shit. And the only thing I - and many other people - see right now is MMO Jesus who can only loose to people who cheat themselves - only to win later anyway, because well - he is MMO Jesus.

Exactly, 90% of the shown scenes in the anime are a fucking contradiction. Look at Bastard!!, D.S. is as overpowered as you can get, but unlike this fap fiction it isn't supposed to be taken seriously. It is the difference between the proclaimed depth and the shown content that make SAO look very shallow.

This is the episode that I'm waiting for(Except the fishing part). But holy fuck, that monster is too overpowered.

Bosses are suppose to be OP; thats why they are always dealt with in groups; which makes Kirito going solo on one all that much more BA and shows how hard it really was (granted that boss was no where near this one)

I could care less if they are suppose to be OP. That's just my opinion as a MMORPG player.

Bosses are not necessarily OP, that OHKO was probably just a retard check.

Though at the very least Asuna shows that she has plenty of flaws at this point..yeah and she needs to be thrown out of the show haha.

Well yeah, you stated one of his flaws then. The person I quoted said he had no flaws at all.

He clearly stated that it wasn't portrayed enough (read: It is never brought up again) and I explained my reasoning earlier. Reading comprehension, people...

You are the one lacking reading comprehension.

Yes, and he clearly portrayed why that isn't the case and in the following discussion we elaborated on that. And Obstinate didn't react to it, that was the point where I was referring to.

But then again, you said in the other thread that you don't like reading that much. Go figure.

Actually he has one more HUGE flaw, that is pretty dumb and shallow.

After Sachi- Ah man I can't trust myself or others anymore

After Silica- Oh she was nice to me even though I used her as bait like a jerk, plus our journey went fine. Maybe I should learn to trust others more.

After Meeting up with Klein again- Oh he still treats me as a buddy even though I abandoned him like a jerk.

After Liz- Oh she came along with me and kept her word of making an awesome sword. Maybe I should learn to trust others more.

Hooks up with Asuna- I can't trust myself...I just can't

Hooks up with Asuna for rizzle- I think I can learn to trust myself and others now.

It's like nope, no other character has any influence on him, just Asuna. It makes him feel really shallow and really dependent on his relationship with her otherwise. Even Nana K. isn't this shallow xD

Nice episode, but they cut it in the most interesting part.

The ones who read the novel know what I mean :D

The next episode will be epic.

I actually believed the fishing part would be in the next episode after Yui, it will be too weird to just end with this SAO arc.

I want to see Suguha, she is adorable. :D

Asuna need to be saved!

Sugou = Hated

i'm sure everyone will hate sugou more than Kayaba (he is just the kind of a pesky guy everyone would love to hate, similar with Kayneth (Fate/Zero) for example...

All in all, a great episode, the monster looked just like i thought it would...and the animation backing it up was superb...next week's episode is gonna be quite a surprise..

i hope

4.5/5

Kayneth is nothing like Sugou.Aside from the "bad teacher" he actually has reasons to be a "asshole".Shinji is the one who is similar to Sugou.
