| So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old? I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them? I wonder how long people would put up with this. Ejc said: This one got a lot of publicity because 1) it is the first major project by Yamakan after the debacle of Fractale (Seiyuu etc are more like small projects) 2) It promises to find new real life idols by audition and cast them in the anime, and the idol group thus formed will perform in live action concerts as well. So it further blurs the 2D and 3D as well as idol and anime, even more than IdolMaster, Love Live and AKB0048. I am really interested in what could come out of this ambitious project from the (in)famous Yamakan.Another idol anime? I can't believe I missed this earlier, lol. I'm in. |

| Wasn't it around before or during the airing of Fractale that he said that it will be the show that will save the anime industry? I didn't watch Fractale but I remember people joking about that. I'm also aware it sold very poorly and people(mostly Westerns I guess) were joking that he did save anime with those poor sales and that he's the hero that the industry deserves or some shit like that. |

He only said that he was losing faith in anime but he still wanted to make anime "this one last time" to prove that the world of anime was not as bad as he thought, and he would "retire" if he failed in this "one last attempt". Of course we know what happened to Fractale and whether he kept his words of retiring if Fractale should fail....Wasn't it around before or during the airing of Fractale that he said that it will be the show that will save the anime industry? |

I will forgive so much of Yamakan's history of asshattery if he gives us a half-decent idol anime without CG dancing. I can see most of the anime itself being at least decent. But yeah CG is a hit or miss (Love Live had quite a bit of CG quality fluctuation), so it should be good if it ends up like Idolm@ster and having all 2D dancing. |

| I didn't notice LoveLive!'s CG dancing much. AKB0048 I noticed the horrible switches from tubular 3D legs with no faces shown to, I presume 2D or a different 3D engine, flatter with faces shown. Kept me from importing the show too... well, in addition to a few clunker episodes while LoveLive! I am loving the imports. This one... could be interesting or not... it has been done before. LoveLive! seems fairly close, perhaps without the opening auditions but many of them were pretty much unknown, some still have little to no other work besides LoveLive! |

I think the LoveLive! dancing looks great, enjoyed it in the PVs that came with the Best Album Best Live Collection and throughout the series. |

jmal said: hpulley said: I guess what I mean is it didn't bother me like it did in AKB0048 where it so obviously switches between two completely different rendering engines, very jarring. Okay "didn't bother" is one thing, "didn't notice" would be another. I only asked because I've read people occasionally say they legitimately didn't even know something was 3D which is the most mind-boggling and ridiculous thing in the universe. So in any case, whether the dancing is 3DCG'd or not is the deciding factor in whether I'll give this show a shot. CG = Pass. I tried to watch Love Live and came to regret it, so as much as I like the concept of idol anime, I have a feeling Idolmaster might have been the last one I'm ever able to watch. Well, Yamakan can't save anime, but maybe he can save the idol anime genre for me... I worked in 3D graphics almost 20 years ago so I certainly know what it looks like. Used to know the matrix functions behind it but now there are libraries and functions for everything so you don't need to worry about the math... Off topic now but I guess all 3D CG doesn't bother you as there is a fair bit used by Satelite in Mouretsu Pirates and yet I believe you enjoyed that show. But Satelite's 3D CG dancing in AKB0048 was a fail for me. Space 3D = OK but dance 3D = bad? Bad for characters I guess but OK for ships and mechs and stuff? I know Valvrave was initially panned a bit for the obvious mecha 3D CGI but I don't hear it mentioned now. For cost reasons of course mecha is going to be 3D these days I guess people just accept it. In LoveLive! I found I enjoyed it and didn't find it bothersome. They looked the same dancing as the rest of the time, still cute, still girls, not like robots. Worked for me. |

| Official website is up: http://wakeupgirls.jp/ Key Visual : ![]() This anime has really a strong Lucky Star link as it has Machida Touko, Series Composition for Lucky Star, taking up Series Composition, and Kousaki Satoru, who did the music for Lucky Star, responsible for music here. The location of the anime is Sendai which is one of the cities ravaged by the big tsunami in 2011 and is also the location for another Yamakan's anime, Kannagi. And they have already chosen the 7 idol+seiyuu from >2000 people through audition and they will be introduced to the public on July 28th in the Wonder Festival. According to the official website, the story will be about an agency in Sendai that has seen better days but now has no one to manage. The head of the agency decides to try producing an idol group and Matsuda is told by the head to scout for the group... |

| I think people are trying too hard to judge what is best and what not. Whether this one going to be great or not, this will be just another Idol anime in the same way there are countless Mecha anime out there. If it interests you then watch it. If you likes it then watch it. It is your freedom to watch what you want to. There is no reason to talk like this is some kind of competition game. I believe Anime was made to be enjoyed by watching it and not in anyway to defeat another the show. |

| What I was trying to say was, there shouldn't be any anime that is bad for its industry. But there are people out there that think there is only certain type of show that is healthy for anime industry. As an anime fan myself, I might NOT be able to like every anime ever made but I am not against any kind of show being made. My point was, being a racist against a certain type of show isn't going to make anime industry getting better. It can only get better when everyone of us support it. |

| I never mean to say Madoka or KnK stole the sale from other shows. Ok now let me fix this mess or misunderstanding. I hope you knew what happened when K-ON was successful and selling like hot cake. People called it Moeshit and all, and even went as far as to say anime industry was doom. But what happened what Madoka, KnK and Bakemonogatari were successful? Again, I hope I don't have to type it down for you. So what happened when they milked K-ON? And what happened when they milked Madoka, KnK and Bakemonogatari? Why did these show being treated differently? Even though they are just Anime for different type of people? It is simple, people are racist. So how was this topic had anything to do with Yamakan's reputation? Well, some people are taking his words so serious that they believe a single Anime can save industry which is impossible. And I was just giving example. |
