The ending arc was very enjoyable. I enjoyed the change of pace and tone from the start of the series and it ended on a high note. Pretty nice series overall.

Great last arc, even when I didn't get to know the real past of Mine Fujiko.

I wish I knew more about the fate of Oscar. But in the ending to episode 13, I saw a frame in which a skinny/feminine hand held Oscar's "Zenigata - Oscar" badge. Is this Oscar's hand? That would mean that he is alive.

I also liked the mindscrew and the creepy owls everywhere.

An absolute feast for the eyes. I really wish there was more adult friendly series like this one, with great art and original visuals.

Having said that, the story could have been more compact and written better. Some episodes like the Cuba one felt completely superfluous, and it would have been nice to actually have the gang altogether doing a heist.

The last episode was surprising! None of my theories even included Aisha in the mix and here I thought this was Mine Fujiko real story. The beach scene was beautiful!!

I cannot bring myself to dislike Aisha. Her decision to continue the experiments was understandable, even if it’s a bad one. The only person I to blame here, I suppose it would be the mother who stood by and allowed the events to come to be.

Oscar character really went downhill halfway through the series. Being jealous of Mine Fujiko and ending up as her was so ironic, especially his crazy obsession with his Zenigata. I really hate Oscar for what he did to the cop and even killing further victims in this episode. Wished the anime covered what happen between the two in the end.

Not bad at all.
It wasn't the most creative ending, but nevertheless, a great addition to the legacy of Lupin the 3rd.
Fujiko being as captivating as Fujiko's always been gotta be satisfying enough for any Lupin fans out there. It was both strange and fun experiencing a much complex plot in a Lupin story, and the art was beyond great.
Let's hope this isn't the last we get to see of this great legacy.

What a sad but fitting final reveal for this rather dark, somewhat twisted series. Yes, this wasn't much like the Lupin I'd occasionally watch on adult swim a decade ago. It was very stylish though, the art really jumped out. I found it rather enjoyable. Definitely the series' greatest strength. I'm a bit less certain on how I found the story. I probably preferred the earlier, more seemingly standalone episodes. The biggest shock came from Zenigata, who wasn't much at all as I'm used to seeing him. The Oscar character failed to leave much of an impression despite having quite the arc. Anyway I guess I'll keep this at an 8/10.

The ending felt very rushed and inorganic. Basically they throw in a 'fill in the spots' lecture in the last arc, not usually a problem, however it's incredulous when they introduce why pivotally important x-person did this and fail to properly investigate the reasoning. A fked up old man did sadistic experiments which were clearly self beneficiary. The old shit dies. Chosen experiment girl chooses to continue with experiment. She introduces her sordid memory of the old fk into every girl until they find a maid that doesn't cap her sorry ass. And... that's it folks! A ruddlerless tragedy.

The viewer is left with no recourse but to accept the facts given to them. There are plenty of shows that mess with one's mind. E.g. flcl, serial experiments lain, paranoia agent, ergo proxy etc. I find for those examples, that a careful rewatch will perfectly explain every little symbolic aspect and densely layered uncoverings in each episodes. The end result, a thoroughly enjoyable show with high rewatch value.

If I had to judge the first two episodes and episode 9 only, without a doubt in my mind, a great big 10. I am still unsure what score to give it, but not above 8 or below 6.

Still, the show is a welcome departure from the usual decades worth of campy, lilted, zaniness. The show was defiantly ambitious and distinguishes itself with its hardboiled maturity that oozes with stylish flair. Lupin and Fujiko were enjoyable to watch. Far more multi-faceted compared to the newest 2015 adaptation.

This series was great, the directing, OST, voice acting, character designs and animation were all on point. Weird but interesting story. The 2015 Lupin anime is still my favorite from this franchise so far. This had some fascinating art choices and shading. The sexuality, nudity and more adult atmosphere were fun. This was slightly darker than your usual Lupin stuff, but still silly and lighthearted enough to be a Lupin series. Looking forward to watching the 2 sequel movies.

This is a hidden gem.

It was a good end, but damn. So those experiments and memories weren't Fujiko at all.

The thing that's confusing is, why they model the girl to look like Fujiko!??

Pretty fucking sure she was already adult when she infiltrated the castle, so how the hell did they knew her appearance and all?

While I love the build up and back story, it all goes out of the window once those memories were fake all along.

In a way, I kinda understand why they did that. Since Fujiko already is an established character and having a backstory of her wasn't really needed, but the premise was interesting. So she was just a normal thief and carefree girl all along :P

It also blew my mind that Luis Almeida was alive, then dead, then it was her mother all along. Like so many twists!!

Oscar going crazy. It didn't explain that much on how the owls knew Oscar. Other than I'm going to assume since he was bullied, the owls saw this as an opportunity to control him and tell their tale.

Fight with Jigen and Goemon becomes a truce once more.

At least with all said and done. Fujiko is back to normal and I'm sure they'll go back to the original charm of the TV anime series. I'll miss the art style though. Very unique and very noirish.

There's also two follow up movies to this series(Jigen, Goemon), as well as Part 4 and Part 5 Anime coming soon. so I can't wait to watch those for sure!

I'll give it an 8/10.

This was really great finale episode! and I feel the show got better after each episode. Overall I have to admit this was really good spin-off Lupin show imo even though I heavily disliked some changes. Aside from negatives, the art-style, animation, music, the main plot were executed brilliantly and making the ending really satisfying with fitting conclusion. Some episodes were confusing and also wished the nudity toned down alot. Btw, importantly I especially liked the Fujiko's character design in this show compare to all other Lupin series I've seen.
Whatever this canon or not, at the end this was just enjoyable Green Jacket Lupin to watch with something refreshing plot twists to cure my boredom. 8/10, Wished there were more shows have such kind of spin-off..

Made sense
Someone with traumatized childhood like Aisha couldn't become Fujiko
A thief, a seducer, a worst possible person.. but good woman
Nah, I don't like calling Fujiko good woman :P

'Til the end Goemon still haven't joined Lupin gang

What a good ending, Lupin back into Lupin that he was supposed to be in the end xD

Here they put so much effort into giving Aisha pretty much the most depressing, shocking backstory imaginable and then they did THAT. What the hell?

On one hand I would agree with you, but on the other - does any amount of painful backstory give anybody the right to inflict same or worse pain on others? (I'm excluding revenge on the perpetrator - I think it should be a civil right to kill somebody who has wronged you on the level depicted in this anime...but I digress).
I mean, she knew she was freed from Almeida, she had a choice. And instead of embracing the freedom, she chose to continue the experiments and torture other girls for nothing. I'm not saying it's easy or at all possible to just continue with your life and forget this happened... but this is always glossed over in all the storylines where the big bad is actually a traumatised person that took a wrong turn: your backstory ends at some point and from there on it's your choice. If every rape victim or war orphan started killing or maiming innocent people, would we really pat them on the head and give excuses?

All in all, a weirdly suiting ending to a truly unclassifiable show for me. At times I thought it was really classy and enjoyed it immensely, at times I hated it and wanted to drop. In the end, we don't know Fujiko more than we have known at the beginning: all the development we've seen was just an episode of her life that has ended, a painful chapter of her latter life, but not her real persona and the reason she is who she is. But let's say the last episode tied all the loose ends provided by previous episodes nicely, and with that I am satisfied.

If you do not wish to leave, it will become a fortress.

Intense, and amazing finale. So this was the truth behind it all. All of this pain, trauma, and fear Fujiko had and felt didn't belong to her. It was something that was forced upon her. The main victim of Almeida's madness was Aisha. He fancied himself a god, and tried to create himself a "holy maiden," which destroyed the lives of many girls, and left Aisha like a living corpse. Almeida then finally died of age or something, but it was too late. She was utterly broken, and she couldn't accept it. Almeida "had" to exist, and the inhuman experiments "had" to continue. So even after his death, he still destroyed the lives of others, Aisha was still his "marionette." She couldn't break free from Almeida, but she still wanted to know her possibilities, and that's when Fujiko enters the picture.

Many of the girls couldn't deal with what Aisha went through, and killed themselves in a mad frenzy, but Fujiko didn't break. She simply sealed all the pain away, and continued to live her life as always. She wasn't showing Aisha one of her "possibilities." She was just showing her the woman called Mine Fujiko. Welp, thanks to Fujiko and Lupin this mad cycle is over, and no one is going to suffer because of it anymore. Fujiko even gave Aisha a glimpse of her free world, and a bit of fresh air before death gave her freedom and peace. It was poignant yet glorious. I do feel Fujiko was a bit harsh with Aisha's mother though. What could she have done? Die for her?

She would simply be killed if she went against Almeida and his men, and the police wouldn't be able to help her, so she remained by Aisha's side. She saw her daughter being destroyed little by little, and I think she suffered enough. Sure, she went along with Aisha's demands and continued to ruin other girls' lives, causing other mothers to suffer like she did, and there is no excuse to this, but I still see her as another victim of her husband, and Almeida. Well, it's over. It wasn't as great as I remembered it, but it's still very good, unique, and one of my favorites in the Lupinverse. Fujiko is truly one mighty fine woman. She is the best, free, and her own woman too. Oscar just died or disappeared, I guess? A pity the character was just kind of abandoned. And Goemon was killing with the Fujiko look. xD Jigen did well to survive him too. lol And that's it I guess.

Trap-Goemon and Jigen still fighting xD

And dunno if taking Aisha with her was an act of mercy or cruel. I guess it depends how you want to look at it lol.

Pretty good ending to a great series. I digged the episodic part, but the plot kicking in during the second half and the reveal that retrospectively everything was part of a bigger picture or rather said that it was part of an overarching story, yeah, I quite liked that. Furthermore, the rewatch value increased too. Already planned to do it anyway, simply because I loved the style and vibe of this series, but now I have another reason.

It slightly bugs me how everything turned out to be Aisha's past. It felt like a copout to me in a sense. I've seen plenty of Lupin's series & movies/specials, there is no canon or continuity in the franchise. I always saw this an alternative setting (not a sequel of Series 1), so revealing Aisha as a character felt like a disservice to THIS iteration of Fujiko, had it actually been THIS Fujiko's past.

This show did have some issues, mainly some weaker episodes (7 & 11), the sudden reveal of Aisha's existence and Oscar's character which I felt was an unnecessary addition to the show. Like other said they should have killed him off in ep 11 instead of shallowly bring him back for nothing and regressing the little bit of character development he had.
I don't think Fujiko was trying to mock Aisha in the end. Rather, since Aisha was envious and living her life through her, she finally found freedom and happiness through Fujiko's happy free frolicking in the ocean and thus dies peacefully and content... or at least that is what I would like to believe.
I thought the same, not sure how people misunderstood that.

Overall this was a very good series. As a "darker" iteration of Lupin it was better written than most and more coherent. Stylistically this is probably one of the most beautiful shows I've seen in a while, but like I said above it still had some issues. 7.5-8/10.

Very big and ugly cop out at the end.

Instead of having Fujiko find the strength to accept her past and not let it control her, it's just implanted memories and she actually didn't have any of those traumatic experiences. Implied is: if those implanted memories were her real past, then she would end up desperate like Aisha instead of being Fujiko Mine... Basically saying that the past controls these characters, even though it seems like they wanted to say the opposite. :)

I agree with this. Though, I think it was intentionally presented in an ambiguous way, with Lupin's comment and all.
Fujiko seems like a mean bitch but she is actually empathizing with Aisha and giving her some happiness at the very end.
Ignoring the ugly cop out, I thought the end scene was really cool.

Interesting series, but it's confusing for the sake of being confusing, and the last episodes amounted to nothing.

Damn this episode was full of so many twist. I did not see any of them coming.

So that little girl who got experimented on wasn't fujiko despite looking like her. And  appearing in the ending credits. They really fooled everyone.
I never believed Fujiko and the scientist were daughter and father.

Love when Lupin called Fujiko perfect after she saw that she didn't have a branding on her foot. Her character design is perfect tho.

I love Goemon and Jigen fighting with owlheads that was funny.

Goemon and Lupin never meet in this series.

The ending felt right. Seeing Fujiko happy and Aisha peaceful pass on, ending her suffering.

Oscar became a shell of his former self. But seriously he should havd  died in episode 11. He would of been labeled a hero for sacrificing himself despite being crazy.

The negatives I had with this is series is that I wish it was more violent more gory. Fujiko is labeled 'a thief, a killer, a saint and a scandal' she 3 out of 4 of these. She was a Saint in episode 3 as the governess for those kids.I wish she would kill more.Same for Jigen.

Other then that I really enjoyed this series. I thought it was great.

A bittersweet ending. Seeing the Lupin gang suddenly act like they do in the earlier series was really satisfying. At the same time it was disappointing to find out that everything we were told about Fujiko's past was just a lie and we're in the end none the wiser. They could have made the revelations consistent with Fujiko's character, but merely chose to press the reset button right at the end, making the main plot feel pretty pointless. The last two episodes weren't that good since the conclusion to the mystery wasn't satisfying and it was stretched for too long with owl people appearances only to necessitate Lupin to give a huge exposition dump.

Overall the series felt uneven, but that's always been a part of the Lupin franchise. The music was great, as usual, along with the art style, except for gratuitous nudity in the early episodes. Some of the stories were a bit dull, and Oscar was a pretty pointless character whose only motivation seemed to be his love of Zenigata. I wish he had stayed gone so that they wouldn't bring him back later.

Still, it was a very enjoyable experience. I liked the darkness and the trippy stuff, and wasn't too bothered by how they had changed the characters. If only the stories had been as good as the style. I'd still say that Lupin III Part II is the best series so far, because even though it wasn't consistent either, I found it to be more original and entertaining. But this was a good way to reboot the franchise.

That was a very satisfying ending for what was a very lush character study of the classic femme fatale, expected to be sexual but shamed for it, this was a very sex positive show with how displayed that sex shouldn't be forced upon someone but just let the person enjoy as they want to (the contrast of Aisha vs Fujiko); I would say the only weakness of the show was Oscar's story, it felt more like a stumble than a proper step to tell the whole story.

Now I look every episode in a new light.
