This was an outsourced episode - not using the best animation team.

I didn't enjoy this all too much either (just personally. Not because of censorship/anything of that matter), but I did feel that the concept behind it was interesting/fun, to say the least.

Impressive!, WOW! God damn. Words cannot describe how much I enjoyed this episode. This is where Hxh shows its true colors in its fights. Hisoka’s pure intellectual capacity is just unrivaled and his experience with nen just makes him an unstoppable opponent. I guess they call him the magician for a reason. The way he threw Castro off guard with the invisible aura threads and creating a distraction with the cards, well he used bungee gum and texture surprise to formulate his plan of action with his arm and attaching the bungee gum on his opponent. Not only that but he also physiologically tortured the guy, throwing his senses dramatically off so he can can finish him off.

Man this is by far the best fight ive seen in the series, truly brilliant. Then we get the final scene with hisoka revealing that he has the spider emblem on his back indicating that for whatever reason, he’s secretly pretending to be a phantom troupe. Besides the fact that they cut the part out where he ate his own arm, This the best episode yet! This is going in my top favorite anime moments list.

What's good about the fight wasn't the choreography. It was how Hisoka managed to defeat Kastro with his two simple Nen abilities. It was a completely strategic fight, that Hisoka won thanks to his trickery and quick and smart thinking.

I personally think it's the best or second best fight in the whole series, but that is probably an unpopular opinion. I doubt you will like Hisoka vs Gon but try to yourself I guess. I just don't think you will enjoy this series if you keep watching, if you didn't enjoy anything so far. Yorknew is better than the arcs before it, but that might be just ''good'' for you and nothing impressive.

By that time, he would have watched nearly half of the series. Seems like an awful a lot, since it's not gonna get ''better''.

But it IS going to get better. Yorknew arc was great and very thrilling, Greed Island was enjoyable and then we go back to the greatness with the Chimera Ant arc (which also has arguably the best fight/episode in terms of choreography + depth).

Kastro + Hisoka was very interesting, though. I didn't see the explanation as a bother at all, I really enjoyed that fight. The way you felt about it pretty much explains why I liked it, just shows how great of a fighter Hisoka is. But I wouldn't say that it's one of the best fights.

The explanation behind it seemed a bit forced and kind of out of place i guess you can say cause in reality some one is not going to explain a full choreographed fight like that to you. But its better then having it explained during mid battle like naruto always does with its fights. I found it appropriate for explaining to the viewers the technicalities behind his strategies.

The only thing bothering me is that the "it's one!" trick, since it was so very easy math.. "(2(X + 4) - 6)/2 -X = (2X + 8 - 6)/2 - X = X + 1 - X = 1.

Well that was different. I don't think it'll take much time to become accustomed to intelligent fighting. Most shounen rely solely on power and tactics, so seeing some strategy is welcome.

Hisoka is still a psychopath as far as I'm concerned. I wonder why he's trying to get near the Phantom Troupe, though. It seems he could be a long-term antagonist at this point.

Also, the surgeon girl he was talking to seemed interesting. I guess she's a Phantom Troupe member. Definitely worth keeping an eye on.

I guess it would be the charging parts in DBZ. But my 2-minute-formulation may lack some sense or logic here and there.

Well... I really think that Hisoka's really, really, really gay. Other than Machi, all of Hisoka's interest/toys are in the same gender as he is.... which makes me think that Machi is so manly, Hisoka just can't help himself.

Hisoka is the creepy magican version of YYH's Toguro (and with that there are many other YYH elements appearing in HxH).
He is the type of person that enjoys fighting someone very skilled, or even someone that might be stronger than he is. He sees this potential in Gon, just like Toguro saw it in Yusuke. The difference between them though is, well, Hisoka gets turned on by that. So as Mikasa said, Power-o-sexual is a fitting term.

THe fact that Hisoka showed some interest in Machi, is in my view a good way of showing Hisoka's normal side. The one that's not obsessed with playing with people or recruiting future opponents, the one that likes women just as any other regular male.

I think that Hisoka is attracted to Machi because of her skilled nen ability in addition to her being a female, kinda Hisoka's type you'd say :P.

no, i honestly believe talent turns him on (he's be bored as heck looking at AGT tho....). he appreciates it so much he can't help it. when he asked to have dinner with her i assumed it was just for a fling or whatever but i'm sure he'd didn't expect yes. he literally is in love with talent and the gift of battle.

(that part in the game arc, though....i can't explain that....whoops!:P)

and i can't believe i'm discussing about someone's sexuality ...-_-'

This whole "nen" thing is getting more and more supernatural (like how a shounen usually is lol) and it's pretty cool~ Cant wait to see more fights using "nen"! I wonder if there is a real-life basis to this whole "nen" thing though, like martial arts, maybe? :S

And just when I thought Hisoka is a Phantom Troupe member, the narrator gave me another twist by saying he's not??? o_____O

And I wonder if Hisoka got to know Kil's brother (Illumi) because they're somehow both associated with the Phantom Troupe in some way... And I wonder if those walkie talkies they had during the exam has some significance as well..
