Only Masayuki didn't help, oh wait he helped he just distract the people outside for idk reason. There are still questions unanswered, like example who's the people with the old man at the mountain? but i think its fine. This is pretty good series and lots of things i can't forget, almost everything. I'll give this 9/10 |

I rewatch this series and decide to comment at the last episode ......the ending was meh and full of plot holes, especially show at the relationship of their family...it was rushing and it is lack of inner dialogue and things that can trigger our deep thought, which is utmost important in psychological series..i was dissapoint at the cheesy ending but overall the whole series deserve a thumb up from me. |

There was so much potential for this ending to be mind-blowingly awesome but it just didn't get there, after such steady pacing, it was a shame! 7/10. |

This show ran out of something in the last few episodes, but it really became apparent here. I don't know if it was budget, manpower, time, or whatever, but the animation, story, and characters just all went bleh suddenly. I'm giving this show props for being good up to this point, but...ouch, it's a shame that it ended like this. |

"Mi... Mi... *removes lipstick* Miyaaakooo" Perhaps I was expecting something deeper from the ending, but I'm not complaining. There were no major questions left unanswered imo. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the combination of spiritual and scientific, as well as the character development in this series - 9/10 Enjyu said: Pretty good series. RafaelDeJongh said: Great ending I must say, quite liked the overall mysterious and spooky tone of this anime, together with some very lovely character and story development up to this lovely ending! Quite loved it and well a solid 9/10 for me! Like above. Great show, perfect soundtrack for that kind of story I think and overall atmosphere. The only one bad thing of this anime is art, maybe not art, but animation. Too much cheap shitty 3dcgi (especially at the beginning - some first episodes). 9/10 for me! |

This anime is the very definition of the word fine, pretty great premise-lousy execution. It even makes Another look good in comparison. It could have been a lot of different things:it could have been a mystery,a horror,a spiritual or even a neurologist/mental issues type of show. But it just borrowed all these ideas (and many more) and just stitched them up altogether into a Frankenstein type of show without having its own identity or idea. If it weren't for the good production values and the great sound assets i doubt i would have even bothered finishing it. You just waited and waited for something to finally happen,a catalyst to get the plot going already, but it barely moved at a snails pace. All tension ,no payoff. Were introduced to the same elements and plot points again and again, and at the end it all boiled down to saving the girl from quaky religious sect. That was so underwhelming and so very lazy to say the least. |

I really rue the slow pacing. It's like putting one jigsaw piece after an episode which thoroughly made it complete after 22 episodes. Much more, I don't see why some people even regarded to this as a horror flick... Cause at best, it's a pretty good mystery. Only worth noting for me was the good art, being accompanied by vivid coloring of the scenery and of course, character designs. Aside from that, the rest remains mediocre. |

Really interesting show, it is kinda slow but it is expected to be from episode one. Story is really good, i have to say it started kinda scary, i had quite a few goose bumps. Art was great too, and i liked the way how they told a story. Some characters are not really interesting and i didnt like how they made it that ghosts look like babies and sound wierd, but its possible to go over it. |

Well, I liked the series but it had some issues in the last part of the show 1. Near the end almost all horror aspects left the show. And so did all the cool sound effects 2. They never clearly stated who it was talking to Taro inside his mind 3. The plot of him wanting to find his sister - the basis of the series - was completely thrown out the window at the end. There was no resolution, he basically just said fuck it "she's always with me" which doesn't really make sense. 4. Taro and Miyakos relationship never developed enough by the end. 5. Miyakos dad, the priest, seems to really like shoehorning his global warming denying beliefs for no good reason 6. The plot with that one guys dad having an affair with the doctor woman was bad. It didn't go anywhere and I don't even see how it contributed to the story. It didn't develop into anything. I actually hated how he didn't tell his mom and at the end the family is together as if nothing happened 7. Both plot elements about the cult and especially Nippon Bio were kind of rushed 8. I didn't mind the happy ending but too much was lost on the way to the ending to make it believable. I give it a 7. First half of the series or so was great. Second half was as if they hadn't planned ahead. |

I preferred the first half of the series and I wasn't blown away by the ending. But the sound effects and the themes were the main reason why I continued watching this series in the first place, I wasn't as bothered about plot resolution or characters. Though the character development was fairly good. |

Wouldve been a 9 or even 10 if. Not for this ending which didnt explain mich at all.. But mightve missed some clues. From what I get miyako was possessed every now and then by taros sister and she said the words she said at the end and cried.. The spirits were at a fight with the artifical lifeforms but i still dont know why otherw can see it every now and then besides that it is just the town being at fault and"posessed" We know the reasons for the doctor being here and his brains changing (but why did his changed but taros were fine on the scan is what im wondering tho..) The bad guys behind it all.. Tho we dont really know what was the pptrue purpose of the sect besides having a new priest and what will happen with it now.. And what happened to makotos mom.. And so much more questions left unanswered... Anyways I did enjoy it but eas hoping to have at least some answers |

And another anime got added in my favourites! Seriously, what an amazing ride. LOVED ALL THE CHARACTERS. Loved the gods/spiritual references too. truly a masterpiece 9/10 Makuro said: Only Masayuki didn't help, oh wait he helped he just distract the people outside for idk reason. There are still questions unanswered, like example who's the people with the old man at the mountain? but i think its fine. He did the biggest part lol. Due to the distractions and people's confusion, Kabata went outside and thus giving Taro a chance to go to Miyako. I'm pretty sure they're shamans, able to see spirits. |

Yeah, the mayor had no significant part in the second half of the story, which couldve been planned better. Overall, this is an excellent 8/10. The show had a very interesting mix of spirituality/cult religion, a large handful of widespread psychological disorders, biotechnology, and human relationships. So many ideas were presented, and even though these themes are spread far apart, they were tied together quite nicely. |

THEY NEVER ONCE tell what happened to the priest dude when he got struck in the head anf sent to the hospital, who or what attacked him, etc.! They never answer that. You know what, I'm just gonna assume that the magical rock spirit threw a rock at him, causing his injury. Considering the lack of explanation, might as well be canon. Well, I guess I was really hooked on this show up until the last couple of episodes, and left a bitter taste in my mouth with the plot just going all over the place and more plot holes than I could count. My score drops all the way from a potential 9/10 to a 7/10. |

Well, the whole show was really confusing, I think I lost it in the middle.. A lot of things didn't make sense or rather were unfitting and confusing, ugh idk.. >~< Totally lost it's premise in the second half or even in the first one where they started soul traveling, I found that weird and strange. I think this is one of those anime, you have to rewatch at least once. Oh, and those backgrounds were done really good btw. |

Well I really liked the series, but as most have said, the ending was rushed, period. And I see there were many questions answered, the main ones at least, from what I understood, in the end Miyako told Tarou the words that he couldn't hear from his sister, probably she incorporated her for the moment, but Tarou realizes that Miyako is not his sister, and that she sister is living within him, and that made Miyako happy. So, what is unanswered / bad explained: - Masayuki's family is so disturbing and we don't even know much, his mother was the most wtf character out there. - BIG QUESTION RIGHT HERE: What about the fucking Black Giant? Because it couldn't be only Tarou's mind, since there was another guy that was cursed by it (remember when there was a Black Giant dying to the truck over and over again...?). Seriously what the fuck was that, there's not much explanation - Why all the others kidnappings didn't ask for rescue payment? This doesn't make much sense, they were only kidnapping poor kids before Tarou and the sister? - That guy with the piercings and green/blue hair. I mean....he did the hero thing by releaising the bioods (not sure if it's spelled like that)? Or was he just a random mad man? Not sure, not even sure why Masayuki could read his noites, I originally thought it was a scream for help but I was wrong. - The bioods thing was definitively rushed - Even the main villain was rushed, I can't even remember her name and I just finished the series a couple hours ago. - Masayuki relationship with Reika was really really really strange lol. It was interesting the control she had over his dad but I'm not sure what the creator meant with the Masayuki thing. Even with the flaws, this series was great, it was worth for me....Makoto being the "Ghost Hound" was not much explored tho.... And my biggest, MY BIGGEST COMPLAIN, why didn't Tarou said that he loved Miyako, fuck, it would be great to see her feeling she was loved. I was thinking that him declaring to her would bring her mind back, but they went for the easy route. Damn, I really wanted these two together, Miyako was such a nice character That's it for me, something like 8/10 |

First off I have to say that I was totally digging the atmosphere. I was so much into it at some times it felt almost like I was in trance while watching. It was mainly due to the amazing sound and directing of the show. I also liked the bit insight of neurology and the human psyche, those parts were always intriguing. My problem is how the story was wrapped up in the end, it was somehow off and it appears like they left some stuff out, either that or I just didn't get it. I was originally planning to give Ghost Hound a 9, but due to the unsatisfying outcome it doesn't feel right to give more than a 7/10. It was a good show with a unique style and concept and I highly enjoyed it, if it weren't for the end, it wasn't terrible by any means, just underwhelming in contrast to what we got before. |

That was some fine character development on most of the characters. Everything went well (almost too well lmao but idec) I loved this ending. All the characters grew on me. That female scientist and Miyako were probably my favs but really, most of the characters were likable. Masayuki got a lot more likable. Taro was always nice and remained consistent. Makoto was edgy but had his reasons and got better. There were some strange things but I really don't care lmao. All in all, a solid 8/10 |

This show as said above had too many conveniences, the great mystery that the viewers eagerly anticipated fizzled out in the dead waters only to be replaced by the lacklustre arc of the dai nippon bio accident and a cheesy theatre ending. Roundabout explanations, information overloads, an open ending, I have no issues with them. The execution, that I have an issue with. A hallmark of a good story is getting the viewer immersed into the story as if there were a part of that world. My problem is the series throwing all these ideas, with not much explanation unconvincingly and expecting me to roll with it. But it's stupid. It's akin to Goku learning to defeat his enemies through the power of ballet. Sure thing, I'm not the author. Doesn't mean I think it's a sound concept. As another person commented, I too was only kept interested because of the cliffhanger every episodes. These anime are similar but imo, I think they did a better job as far as I rate them... > Serial Experiments Lain > Higurashi > FLCL > Zettai Shounen > Standalone Complex Higurashi (2 seasons, but particularly the 1st) was able to throw all these confusing contradictory events and tie it all in, it all made sense. Unlike ghost hound, there is a concrete spelled out explanation for all the spiritual abstral projections, and seeing spirits etc. The psychology and scientific aspect as a nice touch in an attempt to explain it rationally. Zettai Shounen gets a big applause for not trying to force a particular perspective down the viewer's throat. Likewise it ended with a rather open ending, but there was no continuous emphasis of "this can be explain by holograms", "spirits and the universe are a part of the mind's manifestation" etc. that made the most sense through repetitive confirmation. If you notice in Zettai Shounen, they hinted that there was a scientifically testable reason with researched theories. That was all thrown out the window for Ghost Hound, when they continued to have connections and people experiencing these 'hallucinations' collaborating their experiences together. Zettai shounen shows the lore and the sci-fi aspect fairly. And then let's the viewer decided what makes sense, what meanings should they adopt, why your logic of your conclusions should be scrutinised etc. Finally Serial Experiments Lain is also quite confusing, but there is no table left unturned. It all makes sense and everything is not left dangling and unaddressed. Finally, some of the themes are simply discussed, at no point does it force the viewer to adhere to any of the theories. The viewer makes their own choice of what makes the most sense, while the core mystery in the story is concluded. |

End is a bit too happy too fast, but the entire rescue plan was entertaining involving so many key characters. I quite liked the awesome divine retribution avalanche, and Taro's mom finally feeling happier (thx to Hirata & perhaps Taro dress as trap might've reminded mom of sister). I recalled Hirata's Amigdala/Hippocampus talk, but don't get what his research direction/theory was on this. There's some side characters with side arcs unfortunately brushed aside, like Masayuki mom, Snark, Kei etc but they did provide some info/plot movement. First 2/3 were great, awesome sound sfx, good directing of one of the better horrors, and the pychology/mythology/religion discussions were enlightening. Later 1/3 had the 3 boys fall into issues: Taro seeing sis in Miyako making her more depressed, Makoto freaking out in Kumada with mom issues, & Masayuki with daddy issues & developing bad taste. These were useful to see them mature & break thru, tho simultaneously Biotech mysteries, Ogami/gang/kidnappers factions came up, confusing everything with vagueness. And the journalist, hobo & priest didn't succeed in explaining what's really happening. I think most main questions are answered. But still unsure who the the vague figure near Taro's synapse? His inner self? Memory projection of his sister? At the end he did say his sister lives in him, and that really lifts that weight off Miyako. Why Biotech destroyed all the samples? Just because other countries simultaneously published stem cell success? But Bald woman & Masayuki dad said Biotech uses different approach. I did like how this show didn't berate artificial life & science. Instead the monks promoted having natural spirits & artificial spirits merge into the "dragon god". |

Lmao i don't know how i feel about this show or even whether it was good or bad. One of the most Mindfucking show i've ever seen. Its like a mixture of Shutter Island, Higurashi, NGE, Rascal does not dream of bunny girl senpai and Mushishi lol. The Spooky tense atmosphere was awesome, never (seen) sound being used so effectively before. The use of actual Psychology is interesting too (Psychotherapy techniques, OBEs etc). All the theories in the episode previews and others in the show actually exist! As for the ending, i didn't get it...but then again i didn't get the show either lel. Many unanswered questions. Like never knew why they soul travel or what that black kidnapper thing was. Not sure how i would rate this. Feels more like a concept driven show. Rarely seen that before. 8/10ish. Great Watch! |

- Ono Kensho is a terrible actor - An atmosphere-carried show, so with less of it in the last EPs it did go noticeably downhill - The intricately linked character development was great - Government/Authority storylines left much to be desired - This was slow but in a perfectly good way, it suited the story and the atmosphere - Didn't get yamen said: this at first and currently feeling fluffy about itwhen Miyako still pretended to be Taro sister to not hurt his feelings <3 7/10. |

The funny thing is that it's pretty often happening when anime is too slow most of time and feels like a filler but an ending is rushed somehow. I can't complain about sound part of anime but it's too intensive in comparison with actual events. This anime should be 11 episodes since plot is so thin. There are too many characters which do mostly nothing. It feels like "Erased" at some point but the last one was so primitive in terms of detective (the only one suspect and he just revealed himself for no reason) when this anime at least doing proper work in terms of traditional Japanese mystification. But in overall it's so average in terms of plot but still so inadequately long. Also I don't understand why people didn't get that "green spirit" is a sister of MC which lived with him the whole time (in romantic anime people "live" in hearts of others but MC's sister "lived" in his brains/mind/consciousness). 5/10 |

Well, maybe this genre isn't for me; I had such a hard time finishing this show... I liked the characters (blushing Tarou was cuuute) and the atmosphere that was established in the beginning. But going on, nothing really gripped me. The pacing was almost painstakingly slow and I had difficulties understanding the overarching story (or what there was of it). The ending just left me confused and afterwards, I felt like I didn't understand anything and there were so many threads left hanging... I really wanted to like this, but in the end, the show just felt mediocre to me - which is weird, because at the same time, I feel like it wasn't done all that badly. OP and ED were very fine, though, so an honourable mention for that. |

Where can I even start. The 2 things I loved in this show were definitely the characters and the atmosphere/random horror scenes, mainly at the end of every episode. Loved how they made a photo of themselves at the end just like their parents did, although would have preferred if Michio wasn't in there. However, I really expected a different ending, there were just too many unanswered questions. What happened to the whole "come save me" line Mizuka said at the end of the preview in the last episode?? What's the deal with Masayuki's mother and how was she suddenly healthy and the same goes for Tarou's mother. I really wanted the Mizuka part to be answered, although if I were to take a guess based on what the psychologist (who I loved) experienced, it felt like she told Tarou on that bed that "it's ok Tarou, you will escape but I will die". BUT why was she so angry and what did she say to Tarou at the school, right before she got kidnapped? Also something I'm really confused and quite scared of is Makoto's mother, why does she always have that horrifying death look on her face, especially when she talked with Kei (given that before that, she actually looked normal, in the hospital) and where was she in the end? I was hoping she would also come there and have a happy moment with Makoto. I also REALLY wanted to see Makoto and his father meet at the end, it would have been a touching moment. It was so intersting at the beginning but the ending is just abrupt and doesn't answer a lot of questions. It was still a nice ride and it really had its amazing moments so I can't just overlook those. I'll miss some of these characters and I loved the characters, especially the 4 one with Masayuki being my favorite however Makoto at the end was great. |

Alex_TheForest said: However, I really expected a different ending, there were just too many unanswered questions. I can help answer a few of these things. 1. Mizuka saying "come save me" is self-explanatory as as I'm certain it wasn't Mizuka but instead Miyako saying that. She doesn't actually say it on camera but we can assume she is thinking it and we as the viewer heard it in the preview. 2. Masayuki's mother is still a big question mark but it was hinted that spirits were causing her issues when the father saw them momentarily. I assume those spirits also got swept up and exorcised with the others. 3. Tarou's mother got psychological help offscreen by the doctor. Presumably her problems were more standard and he was able to help her. Hence why Tarou thanks the doctor since his mother is better now after his help. Makes sense since its his area of expertise compared to the supernatural stuff lol. But then again it was revealed that she was the spirit in the other realm talking to Tarou. 4. Mizuka words in the hospital I think they revealed it when the doctor got the visions. Yep she said its okay but then said something like not to be sad or not to cry. As for why she was mad at the school it could be anything. Maybe she was upset since he went there on his own or maybe its something standard and classic like she just didn't want him following her around. 5. Makoto's mother is just traumatized and feels guilty about the whole Tarou's sister dying to save Makoto. His father literally committed suicide over it out of guilt after all. As for her argument with Kei they were just having a catfight since they both like Kaibara. This plotpoint was cut pretty short lol. But yep the main loose threads for me was the relationship stuff. The writers hinting that Makoto was going to end up with Kei for example. Stuff like this they just dropped at the end. The Tarou and Miyako thing is pretty clearly confirmed but they didn't really tie up the plot point either. This anime could have really used one or two episodes to unwind these plotpoints. The characters just reconciling, having fun and a few love confessions here and there. And of course I always prefer for anime with even a bit of romance to at least end off with a peck on the cheek, seriously. Sidenote: I also question whether everyone in the cult compound died or if they got out in time. |

this anime went 10/10 to 7/10 very quickly with how the last four or five went through just to reach an end line. Otherwise, the show was enjoyable just for how all of the characters were well-written and humane and as well as the rural setting. |

The ending was sweet, I'm definitely happy with it. The only issue I had was that the final few episodes felt like they were overextending themselves, meaning they felt rushed. Plots, sub-plots, dynamics and details all founded and then resolved (or just forgotten about) no sooner than they were introduced. Besides that, Shinreigari delivers in every other aspect. No expense was spared in creating extensive worldbuilding, interesting and likeable main characters, or the ever enigmatic atmosphere. The use of music and sound effects to contribute to the more disquieting or tense scenes almost enslaved your attention. |

One of the most ambitious anime I have ever watched, combining nature, spiritualism, science, psychology, psychiatry, neurology, and a bit of ethics and politics, tying several plotlines and characters properly. On top of that it also had good visuals and one of the best sound designs in the medium. With that said, the writing wasn't as good, several instances were very easily resolved for what the show was trying to do, especially the ending, which was so easy going and even convenient, it sucked big time. |

I am glad to have experienced such anime, it was something different and that was refreshing this lighthearted ending wasn't something I expect but I felt the heavy and cryptic atmosphere went out pretty fast after around EP17 Nonetheless, it was decent the classic art style and background, the music and soundtracks were nostalgic and oddly satisfying |
