5. Is this the worst anime ever made?

Nope. Far from it. What makes this series annoying is the amount of negativity it has gathered in the forums and across the Internet.

You know I really can't help but agree; with all of the people flaming this, it sounds to me like a bunch of kids I used to know back in High School ripping on Anime they didn't like, because it was just that, anime that they didn't like, it wasn't "their show" that piqued their interest, so it got killed with fire.

Based on the highly opinionated views of this series people give it, I went back and reviewed it trying to see the 'flaws' in it that they tried telling me. Go look at my profile at the 67 some-odd points that Solkiskey gave me in a comment that he thought were problems. I responded to 39 of them before giving up because I felt like I was arguing with a kid who was whining about every tiny ass detail he could find, rather than just enjoying a show.

Some people just come onto this with the idea of tearing it down - by that I mean they have this mindset to 'find the flaws' and tear something down. That's no way to look at anime - watch it to enjoy it, not to "oh this is wrong, that is wrong, this is wrong, that sucks, this is stupid, rant on forums because of it" - if you don't like it that's too bad. There doesn't seem to be any shortage of other anime to view - go watch that instead.

I like how you talk behind's people back without directly confronting them. And I was polite with you too, even when you answered me. I was even being friendly. Seems like you're pretty immature.

I've never seen an anime with so many fucking inconsistencies. Of course I'm going to tear it down if it's bad, or else, how would I justify myself when people ask me why I don't like it? You know, some people want to build an opinion and have standards. And I happen to be picky with anime. So what is the problem?

Seems like you're just angry because people have an opinion of their own and don't like the anime you like.

Fucking rude kids.

I still don't understand how Shu's ship was able to escape safely without Gai blowing it up... probably because he doesn't want to kill Shu or something... yet.

Only two days left until the real fun starts. Because of that I searched for a translation for the preview and found one. Sounds promising.

Ep 21 translations:

We have little time, but we have a chance.

A chance to save Inori and stop Gai.

A battle for the fate of humanity is about to begin.

The prevention of Mana's revival and Inori's life that is fading away.

The Da'at Gravekeeper stands in my way, and the time of Apocalypse is upon us.

Next time: Taking Flight/Emergence

Here are 3 magazine scans. The final battle is drawing near! And I really love those what-if scenario pictures, if everyone was happy.

ohohoho. I see you Daryl, checkin' out Tsugumi ;)
It's probably just my obsessive, fangirl imagination going crazy though.
What I've realized is that the official art always uses these really sharp, crisp, somewhat jagged lines. It makes Gai's hair look bleargh.

Everyone should be entitled to voice their own opinion, nothing wrong with that. However, what I don't understand is why people would watch an anime that has so many flaws and thus it is not 'enjoyable' in their eyes. (not pointing at you specifically, so no offense intended.) The points that I see time on time are:

1. The show is so bad that it becomes entertaining.
2. Elitists that are watching any anime that they've started to watch.
And many other reasons...

Those points just don't make any sense to me whatsoever though. Whenever I don't like an anime, or find it to be completely lacking to my standard I do drop it in a heartbeat. But, I suppose this is truly a matter of each to their own. Personally I don't agree with the 'hate' or rather negative comments and ratings that GC has received, as often these ratings are based on what anime they have seen. (e.g. the continuous comparison with Code Geass.) It's as if they never gave GC a fair chance anyway.

Either way back on topic; I really hope that we will see more of badass Shu in the next episode, as this episode was relatively laid back. He shouldn't have forgiven his friends so easily though.... if I were in his shoes I wouldn't given a single fuck about any of them. (only applying to the ones that betrayed him of course.)

- Frankly our conversation on messaging was over and I had not paid any mind to it until that post. And to a more direct point, if it really became relevant or discussion was needed once again, I would have brought it up to you directly but I had no intentions of continuing the discussion via messaging.

And for the record if you want me to say it to you directly, yes I do think half your points in your comment you made to me are half-assed 'wrongs' in the show just because its not something you like, or you think you could have done it better. You think differently, and that's your opinion but ours differ greatly.

Rather than just trying to enjoy something, you broke it down into parts and tore into it for the same in consistencies that other shows boast. This is anime, its not always supposed to be completely realistic or make absolute sense, why should half the tiny ass details you thought were so wrong matter? So what if a missile doesn't lock on to a running girl, so what if her 'cloak' wasn't on 24/7 while she was trying to escape the building in the beginning, who cares if they didn't show her being searched, why do half of these matter?

If it bothers you that I didn't say it right to your face, well my bad I guess, seems tempers fly on this site faster that any other I've seen. People need to not take all of this so seriously here, it can't be good for their health.

And lastly, I wasn't "Talking behind your back" - I knew you were on this forum and I knew you would see this; your reaction was a little more than I expected but none the less I figured you'd respond. And yes, lol you are picky with anime that's perfectly obvious. Your standards for anime are pretty high it seems, but I won't try to change your opinion on that, it's pretty evident that it won't change :P

I'd like to actually talk with you about this, if you have Vent/TS3 I could snag some server info for you and speak to you about this if you really, really want to, sounds like it could be a very interesting conversation.

I have no idea.
Sometimes I wish I knew what the scans were saying/promoting though.
I have a feeling that if the Apocalypse Virus or anything related to it never existed, Guilty Crown would've made a really good slice of life anime.

Well I actually thought the backstory was kind of interesting (although horribly cliche with the genius and the jealous best friend or whatever), and Mana was creepy as a child too? Great ... nearly forgot Gai was Triton too. Hope they can succeed but unlikely, unfortunately :S
Then we get to Shu again ... *massive facepalm* What's with him suddenly becoming nice now ...? Ugh I wish Inori would just die seriously -_-" That scene at the end with shaking hands ... what the heck was that?! I agree with Yahiro, one episode he's just taking their Voids now he tries to give them back? Okay ... what O_O
All in all, glad there's only two episodes left ... wonder how they're gonna wrap this up though o_O

You do realize he took their Voids in order to get them out of inmediate harm no? He wanted to give them back because he's literally going on a suicide mission. If he dies or their Voids get destroyed somehow they will all die too. Maybe you forgot that little fact already. In fact, it is explictly stated in that very scene. Shu was only going to risk himself, he didn't want to risk the others in a high risks mission.

Now that's a reply. I don't have a problem with you, honestly, but you really came off as rude back there. Try to work on that, even if it's not to be taken "seriously", it's not cool. It's not about "temper" or whatever, but I'm not the kind of person to accept random people being rude to me for no reason.

Vent, huh? Third person asking me to get it. I guess I'll go buy a decent mic since my laptop's mic is the worst piece of crap on earth. I'll get back at you with that soon enough, I guess.

Oh and just to tell you, though I have high standards, there are times where people convinced me that an anime was good and that I was wrong. Guilty Crown just isn't th case, lol.

To the other post, I still watch Guilty Crown because I feel like it. Not to tear it apart, though sometimes I like to laugh at some big mistakes, but for the action scenes which are pretty damn awesome. Story was okay until EP13, and I kind of didn't feel like dropping after seeing half of the anime, honestly. And I actually liked EP1-5, scored it a 7 just so you know.

...And lastly, let's get back on-topic. I don't feel like getting banned for being offtopic again, so if you REALLY need to, message me on my profile instead.

I still can't get over the fact that the Shu x Inori love train feels really forced.

It reminds me of Mirai Nikki in that Yukiteru fell in love with Yuno without any explanation, but to be honest, I would be satisfied if they explained it in a similar way like:

Or "she reminded of my sister and before I knew it..."

I just want SOMETHING, dammit.

ohwell. I guess we'll find out.

Thinking about it again, maybe Gai really is faking it to get close to yuu? or maybe to help shu drive his dreams since he helped gai with his. Aswell as to get revenge for brining him back alive against the scientists. Idk idk idk. CG speculation : Gai counter-ploting against everything with a possible short life - Li Xingke.

From the start, episode 1, Gai has been a user. His Leadership style is that of using people. Then discarding them once he has no further use for them. His goal, as stated in episode 10, was to be reunitited with someone, with Mana. Gai, also told Shu, in episode 2, that the Void Genome was supposed to be for his use. Believing that the Void Genome would allow him to be with Mana.
Summoning Dark: "What kind of human creates his own policeman?"

Watcman: "One who fears the dark."

"And so he should," said the enity, with satisfaction.

"Indeed. But I think you misunderstand. I am not here to keep the darkness out. I'm here to keep it in." There was a clink of metal as the shadowy watchman lifted a dark lantern and opened it's little door. Orange light cut through the blackness. "Call me . . . the Guarding Dark. Imagine how strong I must be."

Yeah it isn't too much of a stretch for Gai to be manipulating others all this time. I'm pretty sure many people addressed his ambiguous position in the earlier episodes too.

Yet now when he does become what people have guessed there are now other viewers who want him to be a "good" guy again.

But seriously, frankly they could go for any direction so there's just no point to speculate on what may happen. They could easily write it off as "change of heart from being with his companions" to be a good guy or justify as "I was never good to begin with and have been using you the whole time".

They kind of implied this in the earlier episodes though. Sure, he probably didn't say it, but the flashback imagery was kind of obvious, isn't it?

I really liked this episode, but as others have said, it's not enough to save the anime. It would take a miracle at this point.

It's not about being "elitist", it's just that once I've invested time in a show, I don't want to give up on it. I've dropped after the first episode before, but never after more than 3 or so episodes (and I really liked the first few episodes). It's actually interesting to finish anime that you don't like, because it gives you a chance to exercise the critical portion of your brain and it also makes you appreciate the good stuff more.

Of course, if I wasn't getting any enjoyment at all I would probably drop it, but I think even the biggest haters will admit that this series has some good points. The writing and continuity is some of the worst I have ever seen, but the animation is really pretty. Both the director and the animators are doing a great job IMO, it's just the writers who are letting us down. Personally, I feel like I gave it a fair chance, I was actually defending it back in episode 2 where all the complaints about fanservice were happening, but by this point I just don't understand how anyone could possibly defend the plot/writing.

Great to learn more about the backstory with Shu's dad and Keido. And the reason why all of this even started in the first place. So Gai was basically a labdog for Keido who was to be used as Adam for Mana. Wow and Haruka is Keido's sister, guess that explains why he spared her earlier. Douchebag overfilled with jealously ends up killing him... Everybody here just connects to each other somehow.

Sucks to see the Ouma family basically have their family torn apart like that.

I had to spend a minute sorting out that convoluted background story.

Gai - shu's cousin
mana - crazy older sista
haruka - step mom
shuuichiro - uncle and his dad's killer (insanely jealous of others to boot)

God, what a messed up family tree that is.

Would have slapped Souta and said "I STILL HAVEN'T FORGIVED YOU FOR CALLING HER OUT TO HEAL A CAR ASSHOLE" >=(

Damn...so that means Mana IS his real sister! Crazy incest is back on people! So she was infected by this parasite from space and since she's patient zero she became super powerful?

And Shu's dad and I guess his step uncle were both the primary researchers for this ancient hebrew group Da'at to do what with it? How come that weird kid stayed young too? He must have been the first Void user or something. I'm going to say he's an alien or something. The Da'at group is said to be super ancient so it's possible they've encountered this alien organism before and have experimented with it but not conclusively meaning that weird kid may have been a fluke.

So Mana is really just an envoy of the alien parasites...I feel like someone was playing FF7 when they wrote this script. Clones, rebellions, secret pasts and repressed memories that connect the main protag and antagonists, and now alien parasites. (Sephiroth is also an ancient Hebrew term as well just like Da'at)

Did they ever explain why Gai is like that now? Or were those his intentions from the beginning? Other then that, loving every single bit of this series. ^-^

Well it's a clone of Gai. Same DNA but not the same person. I'm sure he was tampered with to fit the evil scientists' vision of creating a world that pays homage to his genes (he was jealous that Mana and Shu who bare the senior Ouma's DNA would be the super duper people of the world)

I think the real Gai just wanted to kill Mana to free her. That's why he did what he did way back in like episode 12. Kind of convenient and a little bullshit that he winded up meeting Shu and Mana after escaping though.

A great character driven episode before the climactic final showdown. Calm before the storm indeed.
Let this be our little secret, no needs to know we're feeling HIGHER AND HIGHER AND HIGHER!

Great backstory I must say! Finally we've got most of the things figured out of his past and this really strengthens the whole story way more! The second part was a nice buildup for the last 2 episodes! So lets see what's next!

Well, at least he made up with the traitors, but only Souta asked for forgiveness. (despite being such a dick, he had a legit reason to betray Shu, while the rest didn't.) None of the other traitors bothered to ask him for forgiveness, and only Ayase seemed genuine in wanting to help Shu, which cured her betrayal I guess. Either they're Souta style (feel guilty and stubborn that they dont know how to face Shu) or they would just betray him whenever its convenient for them.

Shu had some nice determined expressions this ep too. Also good to see the source of this whole mess.

So Gai was manufactured for Mana pretty much....anyone still want to claim he fought for even a moment for Japan?

Oh wow, so GC actually makes sense for once. This episode redeemed GC in my eyes, just didn't like the bromance moment with Shu ans Souta at the end, would've preferred Haruka instead.

At least they made up. Although I too would have rather had it been with Haruka instead.

Episode 20 = Road Maintenance.

Episode 1-19 = P(l)ot hole filled road.

Note to other studios: This is not how you make an anime.

Fucking retards.
