It's nice and cheers up. The voice is amazing of the [person singing it.

Is Nana Mizuki, her voice is amazing, actually she's the seiyuu of Tsubasa and she's the reason why I am watching this series~

The only real likeable thing for me this episode was the tune playing when Hibiki was taken to HQ, had a very nice ring to it. The flaws have already been pointed out. Will probably tune in for next week but don't expect any improvements.

it has the potential . . .

and those cliffhanger is good . . .

anyway, at first i hope Hibiki goes berserk . . .
damn . . .
maybe, next ep, Hibiki will get beaten by Tsubasa . . . (i hope she got killed, but it'll ruin the anime potential . . .)
seriously, the story is interesting, aside from Hibiki . . .
Miku is her saver anyway . . .
can't wait for some development between them . . .

i hope third ep can give us more Kanade . . .
flashback is ok though . . .

Can't help but laugh at all the disappointment the people feel. So she didn't go berserk. I don't think that her going berserk or not really would of changed my opinion of the show that much. I mean plenty of other shows have done the berserk thing.

Anyway decent episode, looking forward to their fight next episode.

still enjoying it but i just can't get over the singing between battles no matter how much i try even at the start Tachibana seemed like she was unaware of her self singing which i found funny lol, even though thats not enough to make me want to drop it i will find it annoying in the future still glad they explained it a bit.

IDK about everyone else, but I was hoping she would not be able to control the ability at first. The last frames of the first episode were way to dramatic and exhilarating to have her simply regain consciousness and run about thinking "whats happening?"

Another thing that bugs me is that I want to like the story and characters, but at the moment I just cant see them working side by side. I honestly was not surprised by Tsubasa challenging Hibiki to a fight. In fact I expected it at their first encounter.

In the end, for many reasons my enthusiasm is dwindling. I really hope they can regain my interest. ఠ_ఠ

oh god.. why did i try to watch this.. i've never dropped a series before, and i'm not going to break that record.. despite this being so frustrating and disappointing to watch..
why, cause, if i imagine kanade as the main character instead of hibiki.. i can see this anime being way fking better.

glad this is 13 episodes long.. and probably half or most of it will deal with boring / typical character developments of hibiki, as well as her relationship with tsubasa.. i can't even look forward to the next episode cause i'm sure two typical scenarios may happen.. i want to rant more.. but ehhh.. i just hope something new and amazing happens that makes up for hibiki's character -_-

I am quite disappointed.
Obviously, we were trolled by that transformation smile in first episode for nothing.

Even though the plotholes are thoroughly filled, it's getting boring.
It's obviously heading for conflicts between Tsubasa and Hibiki. That's dumb.

And characters are not likable now.
- Hibiki is so plain and boring.
- Tsubasa is bitching. I'm sad to see Nana playing this role.
- So far Miku gets most of love from me. She doesn't seem to be just "a friend of female lead", but the lead herself.
- The rest? Not worth talking about.

The way they pace is better than episode 1, but overall it's getting uninteresting.
If the show does not change its direction to something positive by episode 4, I might drop it.

Ugg, I didn't like most of this Episode. Hibiki acts like she's the female version of Ichika from Infinite Stratos, dumb and naive. The comedy seemed forced with the NDA agreement speech to the little girls mom and the subsequent incarceration of Hibiki so they can go... to a surprise party?!?

They totally wrecked the serious tone of the first episode with the stupidity in this episode.

They eventually tried to get the serious tone back by bringing in some drama being forced upon Hibiki on two fronts. But I think it was too late by that point.

They killed off Kanade way to early for me to sympathize with Tsubasa's psycho act towards Hibiki who really doesn't deserve it.

Also, when I look at Hibiki, I think of Chihiro's arc from "The World God Only Knows"

I think Hibiki looks ordinary and plain. Like she should have been just another peon to be wiped out by the "noise" in the stadium. That she doesn't look or seem interesting enough to hold the story on her own.

Kanade seemed way more interesting than Hibiki. Too bad they killed her off right in the beginning.

Maybe Tsubasa is upset the they didn't give Kanade quality screen time before offing her. So she's taking her anger out on Hibiki, the Ichika-like boring replacement.

I guess maybe I'm being to harsh on Hibiki. I would have rather she came in as an apprentice to Kanade. I would be able to enjoy her strong points more. But she's thrust into the spotlight and the brightness is dimming her appeal for me. She's like a flawed precious gem, beautiful when not shown directly under the spotlight.

Well wasn't that funny. The first episode gave me false positive initial impressions but the second seems to contradict it which I will assume as its true identity. When I was watching for the first 5 mins I was like "Holy crap, is this the continuation of that last scene in episode 1 or are they changing directors for every episode?" Well honestly, the direction this anime took made me laugh most of the time so I'll probably be watching this just for teh LULZ. :D

I thought the episode was a perfect one for providing all the details. If the next episodes can return to the epic action of episode one then I will be glad. Ryoko Sakurai (sp), and Tsubasa are intriguing characters.

Dont know if I like the yuri~ish undertones...but the music, visuals and animation, characters, and plot have me hooked to look beyond that.

i guess the lot of you who dropped or are planning on dropping soon has only now realized that this is actually a mahou shoujo show and is actually going to the direction similar to one.. it just has a more sci-fi and a little darker tone than others.. but not a deconstruction unlike Madoka Magica..
well, we get the ability of the main character to suddenly know what she's supposed to do with her new acquired powers (no matter how scrubby), we get the usual mahou shoujo protagonist who can be silly at times, we get instant explanations, we get badly designed enemies, we get dark magical girl character at the beginning (Tsubasa fits this for now.. Nana Mizuki doing this mode reminds me of how Fate Testarossa acted at the first part of the Lyrical Nanoha franchise.. so yah, be more bitchy if you want, i'm liking it..) but will hopefully be befriended in the future, and the lack of necessity to explain all the intricate metaphysics of the show with monsters just popping out and just why only their powers work along with why they're not getting any other more feasible alternatives (would you buy for something colorful and that requires singing to save all mankind?)..
but what it does get outside of the usual mahou shoujo show are some things borrowed from sentai or certain sci-fi shows in the form of the whole facility as a base, the need to classify information and having lots of casualties everywhere (for the ones that hoped for Hibiki to go berserk, too bad for you, and it's not like it's gonna have a significant impact on the series anyway, on the long run once she gets the hang of it).. and the genesis of the main protagonist's power instead came as a succession from someone who we even saw dying and did some awesome works before (you might as well not hold on too much on Kanade coz she'll probably not be back, but hey, it's not as if she's already an awesome character using just one half episode, right?).. hmmm..i guess it might be true that it doesn't seem to be so awesometastically unique with all these.. but it's not bad enough to be dropped just because it won't feed your bloodlust and exceeding expectations.. heck, it still has all the potential to be very awesome if it can play on the plot points it introduced along with the foreshadowing scene at the very beginning..

anyway, i find Tsubasa's or Nana Mizuki's singing to just be too awesome in this show, that it really made Yuuki Aoi's singing trash (but what can she do compared to the idol seiyuu?).. though i fear for the synchronized team fights later.. at least, Yuuki Aoi excels in making the show kinda funny and enjoyable with Hibiki's antics..

and Tsubasa's relic, Ame no Habakiri, also reminds me of one of the favorite special moves of Mu-12 from Blazblue but we all know that really came from some Japanese mythology..

This anime wouldn't be so hard to watch if the Noise didn't look like children's toys and if they just simply stopped singing... Then again, I can't fault them for the last one since it is an anime about music, but can they get a better composer on board at least... and not do more retarded JPOP...

I'll follow this on blog from now on to see if this series improves.

Well this was quite a dissapointment, i expected Hibiki to go berserk or at least lose it a little after that smile at the end of 1st ep, what i got? Standard singing, not amused. At least Hibiki's rather likeable and funneh at times, also it suprised me to see her being all "Let's fighto" just after obtaining information about her new power.
Tsubasa's plainly annoying, with her weeping after Kanade and bitching around at all times. I'd hope for her snapping next episode after the end of this one, but seeing how they trolled us with Hibiki last time, i dunno anymore.
Also i want Miku to play some bigger role later on, it seems she will anyway. She's kinda interesting having hots for Hibiki.

Some people are dropping this because apparently they love rampage and senseless killing. As long as someone goes mad everything else doesn't matter, which proves with their statement. Story, action and characters? That doesn't matter at all... :p

Honestly though, I'll keep watching it for now, but like I said before, trading Kanade for Hibiki was a horrible mistake. At least, to me.^^

And? If Kanade stayed we still would have to deal with boring / typical character development stuff with Tsubasa. If you paid attention in the first episode Tsubasa wasn't nearly as reliable or confident as Kanade. A two year time skip with Kanade living would not have resulted in Tsubasa developing into a powerful, solo character. In fact if there was still a two year time skip with Kanada living any character development changes would be questioned by fans and require flashback episodes to explain.

The show might have pulled it's big shocker event already with the death of Kanade and look where that has left the so called "fans" of the show who decided on the favorite character from a few posters.

It amuses me how people seriously think that the show would be better with Kanade alive and Hibiki "gone". We know nothing about the show, nothing about Kanade, nothing about Zwei Wing and some people seem to have already chosen their favorite characters and decided on who to hate.

I sort of understand the general dissatisfaction, though. Hibiki doesn't seem to "mesh" well with the whole setting. Kanade and Tsubasa are mature, powerful women and look really cool when they fight. Hibiki however looks like a midget child and doesn't give off the same feeling as Kanade when she fights/sings (just compare Aoi Yuuki's high-pitched voice to Minami Takayamas deep, soothing voice). And the Tsubasa/Hibiki combo looks and sounds simply weird. I hope they get to fight humans soon (please let it be Miku) because slicing up the same ugly monsters every week is plain boring.

I hate to say this but I'd rather see Tsubasa die as well and Miku ending up with a Symphogear as well to keep the balance. Hibiki and Tsubasa don't mesh well together personality-wise and the only way balance can return is for Tsubasa to die and Miku to take her place.

Or balance can be found by Hibiki and Tsubasa working out their differences.

This is nowhere near as dark as Madoka was, but I'll keep watching because I'm curious as to where this show will go.

In general, the singing during fights seems very cheesy and annoying (though not as much after the scientists explained the reason behind it). Also, Hibiki is hard to like.

And also, since when was this a shoujo-ai? That scene with Hibiki and Miku was very blatantly shoujo-ai, but then they never mention it again...

There you go, you said it yourself. I think the dissatisfaction is kind of obvious. And not only is that action more boring without Kanade (or both of them), but Hibiki is extremely boring as a character and overly-done and extremely annoying, and most importantly like you said she doesn't "mesh" at all with the setting unlike Kanade's character just you said in your comparison of Kanade and Hibiki. It also doesn't help that Kanade's character as a lead was making out to add someone unexpectedly distinctive with a great design that meshed really well with that (almost potentially Gainax-like in that scene before they decided to give her up rather than keep developing her in the show with her partner) and that her type as lead is far rarer right now than Hibiki whose type is in virtually every show, it's like a big tease that of all the things they could troll with they trolled with a character like Kanade who was showing the potential of being quite distinctive and breaking expectations for this show (mature powerful woman, cool heroine, quickly likable, and rather than a one-note personality one that surprisingly went all the way from light joking to knowing when to get quiet and help her partner to serious drive and emotion with all sorts of underutilized potential to lead this show into unexpected territory, as she was, up until they went the extra mile and traded her as lead character for Hibiki rather than have Hibiki die in shocking fashion like that and use that scene to develop Kanade who was supposed to be the other lead), and killed her for Hibiki, trolling that replacement sure didn't help IMO.

Hmm, I haven't seen many say they're dropping purely because she didn't go berserk:

For some I'd imagine it's that that lame hand-wave resolution is the same awful writing that lead to the ambition-draining, dumb (IMO) choice of abandoning Kanade for Hibiki, exactly as you put it in your the second paragraph, Hibiki is a bland fucking annoying character as is her friend and she's taken over as the lead, so I think you answered your own question with your feelings on the episode and the characters. As you said, I agree the show would be 100 times better if Kanade was the main character as advertised.
