What's an anime art style that you find beautiful? And why?

I've always found Grimgar's art quite stunning.

I adore the cute, watercolour-like backgrounds.

I wouldn't know if this style of animation falls in a specific category, since I'm not too familiar with the terminology, but I find it beautiful nonetheless :-)

This man is the Art Director of Grimgar. You can try watching some other series in where he's been involved since he's pretty good. Maybe you won't find the same exact watercolor feel in everyone, but you normally can find a trademark style when exploring like this.

I found the graphics of "The Reflection" to be different and a bit fascinating. The anime was not as good though.

I thought this is another Violet Evergarden or any KyoAni appreciation thread.

Mine would be some of A-1 pictures like Saekano.

Thank you! Never thought of finding anime this way. Are you familiar with any of the anime he's involved in? If so, any recommendations? :-)

Hahah yeah, I guess that's true. I didn't mean to refer exclusively to animation, but art style in general (in anime) as well.

Besides, I like the way it's animated too, but the backgrounds stood out the most in my opinion.

Oh, and Nagi no Asukara is beautiful indeed!

Really like these two:

Mushishi has beautiful art, especially the backgrounds. The nature scenery looks so nice all the time, the forests more so. However, some of the character art can be a bit dull in comparison.

I'm also really liking artwork from anime in the 90's at the moment. Fairly known ones including Perfect Blue, Ghost in the Shell (1995) and the short film Magnetic Rose from the Memories film compilation. I guess I like how they did backgrounds before a lot of the digital rendering was used.

Cool! I just started watching Mushishi and I must say, the art is indeed rather pretty, especially the scenery.

Garden of Words is quite the most stunning art in anime I've ever seen.

Watching that show, doesn't feel like you're watching anime anymore.
Idk why I spend so much time in writing such irrelevant replies ._.

It is, isn't it? I should really make some time to watch that, since it's been on my plan to watch list for quite some time.

Yeah I'll definitely try to watch it somewhere this week (maybe next week). I'll let you know my thoughts on it after watching it!

Non Non Biyori. It's green. It's countryside. It's beautiful.

Hibike! Euphonium. It's just dazzling. The riverbed scenes in particular are memorable. Probably the most beautiful scenes I have scene in TV anime.

Kemono no Souja Erin. It's like a world drawn with crayons. Simply breathtaking and gives the vibe of a fantasy world.

I can't get tired when looking at its stunning backgrounds.

There are a few, like xxxHolic (and the manga, the source material too, of course) for the Clamp designs and for some idiosyncratic interiors, Katanagatari's and everything about Studio Ghibli's films, always. I've also grown to appreciate the art style of late 90's/early '00's anime more lately, what with watching Fruits Basket and stuff.

Sword Art Online. I mean the title speaks for itself. The swordplay animation was beautiful to watch, it has that final fantasy charm to it. I kinda agree with what everyone has mentioned.
