I was going through myanimelist stats (on Graph anime plus) and I was looking at the average rating for episode lengths.
7-13ep : 6.48
14-26 ep: 8.05

Further more, the majority of my favourite shows are 2 cours and alot of the top rated anime in this site are 2cours+ long.

What about you?

EDIT:
Added question:
Would you prefer 2 cour or 2 seasons of 1 cour?

Yes I guess. Because I'll get attached to the series better the more I watch it.

Technically speaking I enjoy 2+ cours more since I've rated more 2 cour shows higher

Generally speaking, I prefer 1 cour shows since unless it's really enticing, 2 cour shows tend to drag on a bit too long after some episodes

As for the other question, I'd go for 2 cours rather than 2 seasons of 1 cour, since in by the time the next cour airs, I'd already vaguely remember the events of the first cour season (like with Shokugeki no Souma)

First of all, the series that are more likely to succeed are more likely to get more episodes, which is why 2 cour seasons will usually be rated better.

I personally prefer 2 seasons of a one cour anime rather than a single 2 cour in most cases, since I can take a break between seasons.

it really depends on the story. i dont care about what people talk about 'attachment to characters' i dont feel with anyone.

generally speaking 2 cours have more to offer but i tend to watch 1 cours as they're shorter and keep my attention. 2 cour often screw up either from beginning or in the middle.

not to mention your high score is because you've seen 13 +2cours and the rest are 1 cour so it's pretty inaccurate cuz of quantity

Ofc , 2 Cour is much better , also yea my I have lots of favs. animes who are 2 cour or more. Since 99% of animes get at least 6-7 episodes as introduction of characters , we got only 1 serious short arc in a whole series. Therefore , when it's 2 cour , you can see better plot building up , better fights & better arcs , also better ( or satisfying ) ending. Since most animes aren't capable to be truly finished within 12-11 eps only ( unlike some animes like Zankyou no terror , 91 Days , Angel Beats etc .. ). In addition , 2 Cours anime tend to be more mark-able and memorable in my memory since It takes 6 months ( 2 seasons ) to be finished so It'd be hard to forget it. Tbh , I rarely find 1 cour good anime that satisfies me (except if it has many sequels or good ending). And I get hyped whenever I watch an airing anime and find that it's 2 cour cause I'd totally enjoy it, and I can ignore the boring eps too since 24-26 eps are good to have a semi-slow pace unlike 1 cour only.

2 cour is better if done RIGHT else they feel dragged out.

Tho I could be watching the wrong things :/

Well, according to my MALGraph ratings vs episode count, I tend to watch more 1 cour (7-13 episode length) anime shows rather than 2 cour (14-26 episode length) anime shows, so...

Mean Score for Titles 7-13 ep. long: 7.36 (total [at the moment]: 48)
Mean Score for Titles 14-26 ep.long: 7.76 (total [at the moment]: 31)

Would you prefer 2 cour or 2 seasons of 1 cour?

Eh. I'd probably prefer 2 cour instead of 2 seasons of 1 cour just so I don't have to wait however long for the next season, et cetera.

If (Cour is currently airing)
I prefer 1 cour, watching seasonal anime can be overbearing at times. Trying to keep up with several shows at a time. After around 12th episode, I usually lose interest in the second cour because a whole new season of anime has started. Take The Ancient Magus Bride for example, the initial 12 episodes where fantastic but new shows started airing, such as Karakai Jouzo no Takagi-san, Koi wa Ameagari no You no, Gintama, and Yuru Camp, so I lost interest. (I’ll likely come back to Anicent Magus Bride when it finishes airing)

If (Cour finished airing)
Then I’ll prefer 2nd Cours, because I can watch it all in a few sittings without having to watch one episode each week.

Overall I’d prefer 2nd cours, but I’m impatient, so I watch anime as they air because I hear how good they are.

Yes, I'd prefer 2 cours over 1. I remember a lot of people being angry when Attack on Titan S2 ended up being 1 cours instead of 2, despite the fact that there was plenty of source material to adapt. Also was annoying when BNHA S1 ended up being 1 cours instead of 2.

It definitely varies and depends on the anime. I watch all the seasonals, so sometimes having 2-cour length is nice (recently like Mahoujin GuruGuru & Ancient Magus Bride). Sometimes ones that only have 1-cour make you wish it was longer (recently like Kekkai Sensen, Girls Last Tour, Land of the Lustrous).

HOWEVER, sometimes 1-cour is a complete blessing if you are like me and cannot / will not drop an anime once you've started it no matter what, and hate yourself for watching one 5 minutes into episode 1. :)

I generally prefer longer over shorter. My highest rated group of shows according to MALGraph is 50-100 episodes and that is probably my ideal length for a show. Over 200 episodes is where some shows start to fall apart (even tho I still love long-runners), and 1-cour is barely ever enough to tell a full and satisfying story and not end in the middle of it and basically be a glorifed commercial for the source. 2-cour is not that different from 1-cour except it's not as big and as frequent of an issue, but it still is unable to finish a story a lot of the time. Same principle, different probabilities.
I probably regret this post by now.

I definitely prefer 1-cour anime, in part because it's just easier to binge-watch.

If an anime can tell its story in 1 cour, then I don't think 2 is usually necessary. I find that many 2 cour anime have a more episodic structure and digress more frequently from the overarching plot. It works well for comedy anime and Iyashikei, but it can be annoying when you have to go through some pointless episodes that don't have anything to do with the story. On the other hand, you have anime like Kaiba, which had an honestly subpar overarching storyline but an amazing and creative universe that lent itself well to an episodic structure, so when you finish the series you kind of wish they never bothered with a plot. On the other other hand, you have shows like SoRaNoWoTo, whose overarching storyline would have fit neatly into a 6-part OVA but whose "filler" episodes build up the relationships and characterizations that really strengthen the show.

I think the last 2-cour anime I watched was Dennou Coil, which I enjoyed aside from the clip show in the middle. I did think that a few of the episodes didn't serve much purpose, but it was good for what it was.

I also recently saw Oniisama e..., which is about 3 cours and is so tightly written that it would have been difficult to tell the story in any less. I really loved that series.

1 Cour = 12/13 Episodes of Anime
2 Cour = 24/26 Episodes of Anime

2 Cour Anime air for two seasons, while 1 Cour Anime air for a single season.

Take a shounen anime like My Hero Academia.
Its first season ran for 13 episodes. (1 Cour)
While it’s second season ran for 25 episodes. (2 Cour)

If the show finishes conclusively and doesn't end up rushed, I tend to prefer 1 cour, but this situation is rare with a lot of 1 cour shows just being ads for the source material. I prefer to have a shorter series where everything going on seems to have significance and gets to the point over a longer one where I grow more attached to the characters or invested in the plot.

I definitely tend to rate longer anime higher, but I also watch a lot fewer of them. I don't know if I would really call this "like longer anime more" but more like I'm just more selective about which ones I watch. There have been a few really bad longer anime that I've seen, but for the most part when I have to dedicate that much time into watching a single anime I'm much more likely to not watch it if I have the suspicion that I won't like it while shorter bad anime I don't really mind watching.

I think I slightly prefer 2 cour. For long-running series like BnHA and Shokugeki, sure, I definitely prefer them to be 2 cours. For other shows, it kind of depends. If I wanted to see more of the characters or story, then I would've wanted the show to be 2 cours. A cour is perfect for a shorter story, but I won't get as attached to the characters. They won't give that much lasting feelings after the ending but I can enjoy it if it's done well.

2-cours give production more leeway in developing a well-paced, coherent and engaging work. However it can also suffer from being repetitive, boring, and with decreasing quality of the later episodes due to poor allocation of funds.

1-cours work well for comedies that gets stale if overused, or a short and sweet story without much investment into character/relationship building.

It's a hit or miss on either side but series that can secure an initial 2-cour generally have more resources and can generate a better product. Overall it'll depend on what genre is being animated, but for the kind I like 2-cour is more suitable.

I like whatever is serviceable to the story if a show needs only 3 episodes or 100 episodes than so be it as long as it's in service to what it's set out to do. looking at my mal graph it's no surprise that shows that are 12 or so episodes long has the lowest mean score compared to others. since it's the only with the largest sample size and the standard of which much shows go for. even shows with less episodes have a higher score, but have a higher score which may be because i watched a fraction compared to the 12 episodes one. graphs can only tell you so much

I don't really care how long anime is if its good.

Imho 1 cour is better for story focused anime (when every new episode directly continues the previous episode) like Inuyashiki or Devilman Crybaby or ef: A Tale of Memories and 2 cours is better for anime with standalone episodes like Mushishi or Cowboy Bebop

It totally depends on the needs of the story, amongst my top favourites, I have 1 one-cour anime, 1 one-cour anime with sequels (which were never as good as the original), 3 two-cour anime and 1 three-cour anime.

But overall, I think there are more anime which are suited to being one-cour than there are anime which are suited to being two-cour, but the two-cour case is artificially inflated by all those anime which are actually best suited to being a lot more than two-cour, but in this situation, two is still better than one. (i.e. all the things where they only adapt a small portion of the source material.)

Well my malgraph confirms that I rate 2 cour shows higher. 12/13 episode series often don't have the time to world build or invest you in their characters much less develop those characters and the plot. Frequently they leave plots incomplete (sometimes egregiously) and the better ones that do manage some of the above then tend to end basically immediately afterwards squandering their own work (of course if they get a second season that helps). Of course thier are plenty of good 12/13 episode shows but these problems I find to be more prevalent in shorter shows than longer ones. That said 12/13 episode shows can make for a breezy less invested watch and hey theirs always list padding.

I do like the 2 cour series length more, as it allows for greater depth of storytelling. Sometimes there are 1 cour series that just seem to tell part of a story and I'd just wish it'd keep telling the story.

And my mean scores for...
1 cour: 6.12
2 cour: 6.85

These bear out that preference I guess.

2-cour definitely, Assuming the story isn't just being stretched thin for more episodes.

More time for development, learning the story, and so forth is definitely my preferred choice.

1-cour is perfectly fine though, just work with what you got. Don't rush development because of episode count or anything of that sort.

Would you prefer 2 cour or 2 seasons of 1 cour?

1-cour since most 2-cours are like Re:Creators and decide to waste the extra time they're given instead of pacing it properly and using the extra time to make a better show.
