| I always hear people saying Asuka is better than Rei, or Rei is better than Asuka or Shinji is an a weakling, and I think is normal because he is on depression. I like Misato and Rei too much, but is anyone likes Ritsuko? I wanna know who is the best character for you, you know? Some people hates Gendou and Ryouji or not? The best character is Pen Pen, sure. |

| Misato is my favourite character, everything about her is just so much better than everybody else. On a side note, I don't really understand the hate for Shinji. He's a 14 year old boy that hasn't seen his father for years, and his now being tasked to take down alien creatures to save the planet. The hate just seemed unjustified to me, the stuff that he goes through would cause trauma to anybody that was not well prepared. |

| Since listing was obviously allowed by a moderator on this thread. Well, let's see... there is Rei of course because of how emblematic and extremely well designed she is (I don't mind that Anno "forgot her" in the middle of the show, I still find her evolution road pretty good), Shinji because he's the skeleton of the show and Misato (who wouldn't love this kind of character). (I also have a thing for Kaji in some extent) Not sure if I can nominate Asuka, despite liking the character a lot, I really dislike her as a person. PS: Gendô's "assistant" is called Fuyutsuki. |

| I liked Rei from the very beginning, I didn't like any of the other characters in the series and it was hate at first site when Asuka appeared, I could only see her as a complete bitch until the end when more about her past is revealed. Rei is still my favorite but Asuka's more relatable. |
