| If your friend is really innocent, look into trying to get a polygraph test done for both the accused and the accuser. They aren't perfect and won't help too much in the court, but it is great for public appearances, especially if the accuser refuses to get it done. |

If you pick one friend you lose the other. If you try to remain a neutral you risk losing both friends. If you were only friends of the accused then you could just tell him the following- 1. get a good lawyer and under no circumstances should he talk the police without his lawyer present. Because cops will lie their ass off about evidence,witnesses and anything else to get your to confess. It makes their job easier if you confess because then it will not matter if they lack evidence. 2. He should admit to having consensual sex with the accuser. Because if a DNA test proves he had sex with the accuser then it makes him look suspicious he said he didn't have sex with the accuser. 3.Tell him not confess to anything incriminating, again cops lie. 4. Do not give into plea bargains. A plea bargain just means they have very weak evidence or no evidence against you.They wouldn't offer the plea bargain to the accused if they had good evidence against the accused.They offer the deal because they are at least trying to walk away with something like a lesser sentence, probation,and or registering as a sex offender instead having an expensive trial and the accused getting off scott free.Just because the DA offers a plea bargain deal the accused takes the plea bargain deal, the judge can still sentence the accused to the maximum punishment under the law. 5.You could offer to testify as a character witness on your friend's behalf. If you were only friends with the accuser(person who says she was raped) then you could tell her the following- 1. do what ever she can to prove her side is true. 2. submit to some tests to see if they can find any signs of abuse like bruising or tears, if she fought the rapist maybe some dna under the finger nails or something else. 3. you could testify on her behalf as a character witness.
