We got a consensus of the formation and motives of Moria and his men. Moria lost to a certain Kaido in the New World. I bet he didn't have good nakama and couldn't keep up. Being upset over this he perhaps ran into Hogback 10 years ago and the two agreed to work together for their dreams as they had a middle ground. Later Absalom joined the crew(assuming he wasn't with Moria since the beginning), certainly at least since before the first time Brook attacked so he's been with Moria and Hogback for 5+ years. Then, what I found as a genius form of storytelling, Oda had Perona ask Absalom about Brook. This told the audience that Absalom has both been here longer than Perona but also that Perona wasn't involved with Thriller Bark 5 years ago when Brook attacked. Otherwise she would know more about him and have been able to have spotted him earlier. Of course, Absalom has a thirst for power and you can see it through his actions and his form of intimidation to get what he wants as well as his frail ego when people don't respect him. Perona wants to have an army of cute things obey her will even though she's anything but cute herself. She may look it but her personality exposes the duality of her bitter attitude and her desire and love of cuteness. I would assume Hogback wants to pursue resurrection so he can truly bring back his love Cindry, or something of that matter, because frankly, if you think about it if Cindry is dead then the soul inside her corpse isn't the real Cindry!
The way we got most of this information from the brief interactions between the villains was quite honestly wonderful!
Brook is such a touching character. His voice actor may legitimately be my favorite ever. The way you can feel what he does through his voice and body language gives me shivers. When he recalled losing and running from his shadow the first time he clenched his fist and his voice was filled with sadness and regret. That choice of his was one that nearly got him stranded in the devils triangle forever, unable to keep the promises he made to his dead crew. He almost never got another chance to get his shadow back and if not for the mistake from Perona's ghost and by proxy Perona not recognizing Brook then he wouldn't have made it back to Thriller Bark... You could tell everything from the way he spoke. The emotion his voice carried. Now he's come back, he's gotten a second chance, and despite the fact that he's lost for a second time against his shadow he refuses to give up this time. He resolves himself and fearlessly takes down the things the scare him most even if it's so hard for him that he ends up bursting out in screams after doing so. I really can't wait to see more of this character.
I wonder what Franky asked him to change his mind from "I hate this guy" to "GOSH DARN IT! I FREAKING LOVE THAT SKELETON! YOU WON'T FIND A BETTER GUY THAN THAT!", while crying. Robin seemed to agree with the sentiment too. :)
Lastly, putting Luffy in a devilish monster is such a recipe for disaster. We already know they won't be able to control him!! That monsters totally going to fight for his ambitions, nakama, and food still. No one tells Luffy what to do. No one ever has. He decides what he wants and he makes sure he gets it. No way zombie Luffy will be any different. Moria's in for a surprise.
P.S. THE ZORO ZOMBIE IS SO FUNNY TO ME! It completely exposes his caveman nature. He goes the wrong way and yells at his comrades about wanting to fight his enemies without having a single other thought go through his head. That scene had me laughing so hard. |
