Having low self esteem makes you work harder, it's a good thing.

Music works for me too, I can feel strong power in music. Also sometimes burning it away by running also works well. Also a feeling of winning something or self achievement works well, so as sad as it sounds when it is hard to do that I tend to play Harvest Moon, because there is something about seeing things grow.

This, with the only difference being that I don't have to remind myself of that.

Yeeeaaah, same goes for me. Mind clarifying that for everyone else's sake? I mean is there a specific reason you want to how everyone else improves their self-esteem/confidence?

Haha I don't think that works if you have low self-esteem in the first place :p

I usually do the bathroom mirror exercise, and then remind myself that I'm... better at some things than others OTL. I guess anything for a boost in self-esteem.

I think it is pretty clear, so I can find some ways to improve my own self esteem. And it should be interesting to talk about it.

Some cited music but it doesn't work for me. But I'm starting college soon and I will remember about the "talking to friends", I REALLY need to make friends.

I do kata. It reminds me of all the hard work and effort I put into learning it, reminds me of all the times I failed at nailing it, and reminds me of the moment when I did nail it.

It's funny, because I never even thought about raising my self-esteem. Or, remember the times when I did.

I guess when I know there's someone who got a higher mark than me, my self-esteem should be low, or something. But even so, the mark most of the times either reflect how much I studied, and how determined I was. It has less to do with confidence than more about hardwork. I guess it's when I tried hard, and still got a shit mark, is when I began to loose self-esteem. But usually, I can share this with someone else, and they'd share the same opinion that the professor was being a bitch. So that'd be one way to indirectly improve my confidence. Blame it on somebody else with friends.

I guess confidence also play a role in getting a girlfriend, but I still have quite a few years ahead of me to do so.

I second this. Also, do something that you love and you are good at. For me it's singing and playing strategy games.

Know what you are strong at, everyone has strengths and weaknesses - and polish on what you can do the best. Also, don't put up with other people's bullshit, because it's only going to bring you down - you are you, and comparing yourself to someone else doesn't help. Finally, the only person that can help you out of the mess of a low self esteem is yourself, because you're the person in control. If you fail in doing something, don't think negatively of yourself but instead use failure to do better next time.

Oh, and also look at some Courage Wolf stuff, all of it's some sort of hilarious self-esteem booster. ;)

ROFL

---

I haven't really thought about raising my self esteeming, but...

Working behind the scenes to try and make yourself better tends to help.
Your self esteem isn't going to improve unless you put in some effort - even if it means embarrassing yourself.
If you're not willing to throw yourself out there once in a while then I don't know what you're doing trying to do - there are no alternatives, you'll need to do it eventually if you truly want to believe in yourself.

Just encourage yourself, optimism tends to do the trick.

Burn out on running or biking or something that gets the endorphins pumping. I don't know how much it will help your self esteem long term unless you get into a habit of doing it daily or every other day, but its a good mood lifter.

Also, studying/reading anthropology or philosophy is a good way to lift your self esteem since you often have to take an objective almost superior perspective to get your brain around it.

As in set training pieces of martial arts? I do that too.
Also any endurance sport helps me, doing it with others helps building self esteem by having intelligent conversations. Or at least does with me.

And on the edge of sanity I stumble and fall.

On the internet telling lies, fabricating stories, exaggerating events, living in a fantasy, because no one here will ever know the real you. Oh and make other people feel bad to make yourself feel less miserable also helps.

Not pointing fingers or anything....

Like myself. That way, it doesn't matter when other people don't :) And also, I remind myself that there'll always be people who, for some strange reason, actually do like me, so it's not as though I'll be all alone :D

Your sig helps too : o there's not enough disney around here.

To improve my self esteem I do something worthwhile or fish for attention / nice comments from people, that's pretty much it.

I do lots and lots of exercise to make myself feel better. Hanging out with cute people helps too ;)

Though, in all seriousness just being with friends is good enough :) And talking to new people.
