Hey @FushikoMaruko! You'll probably enjoy Tekkon Kinkreet. It is an adaptation of the manga written by Matsumoto, Taiyou where we follow the story of two brothers in a dystopian world. It is a film that is a little difficult to find, but there are some subtitled versions on the internet. The contrast of colors and the dynamics of the relationship between the characters is super engaging for young teenagers. There is some minor action and violence in the film (it is recommended for ages 17 and up), but if he have already seen Akira or American Pie, he will probably be able to watch this one too.

Disclaimer for the next person: I'm not looking for anything specific, I watch a little bit of everything. I would like a recommendation that you really like (whether it's anime or a movie), but it can't have 100+ episodes or consist of multiple seasons.
@rodzbio I recommend you Pluto

If someone wants to recommend something, go for it, but between watched and ptw can be difficult. Can be anime or donghua.

@iluvmozu - for Fantasy and Supernatural, I'd like to recommend: Guai Xiang Shou and Fukigen na Mononokean. Since you enjoyed Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun, I think xxxHOLiC might be worth a try!

@iceLatteWasTaken - since you like Asobi Asobase, maybe give Yuru Yuri (especially for the Art Arter Artist episode) and Maoujou de Oyasumi a try? Both follow the daily shenanigans and chaos the characters cause.

@xxKumorixx Since you have yuruyuri and New game in your favs, I think you would like Is the Order a Rabbit?. It's a cgdct, SoL anime with silly jokes and a very nice relaxing atmosphere.

Hi! I see that you like a lot of Iyashikei, SoL and CGDCT series. As someone who have seen quite a few shows with those themes/genres, I am excited to recommend you some!

The most recent one I want to recommend is Hibi wa Sugiredo MeshiUmashi. It got similar feelings to Yuru Camp. While it doesn't focus on the camping aspects, it instead focuses on a food culture club with occasional adventurous feels to it. The silly goals by the group in the series eventually turns into a real club that blends well with gourmet, CGDCT and comedy aspects.

Hakumei to Mikochi is probably the least known of the ones I want to recommend. It focuses on characters that are the size of Ika Musume in her chibi form. The main genre is the slie of life aspects, but it does have quite a few unexpected turn of events. It still retains the iyashikei feel to it despite that. Their lives in nature is a slow, busy and a fruitful experience.

Flying Witch is in your PTW, so I'm sure it's something you are interested in. Given that it is similar to Non Non Biyori, one of your favorites, I figured it was a good time to recommend it to you. Just like Non Non Biyori, it's slow slice of life with good mix of comedy and relaxing atmosphere. A witch moves into a rural area to study magic while staying with her cousin's place. It's surrounded by warm and comfort, which makes it a good show to just sit back and relax to.

@Serenity34 Hi I noticed you like alot of wholesome romcoms including the one you mentioned so I think you'd probably enjoy Tsurezure Children.

As for me, can someone recommend me a short (12-24 ep) rom-com/ romance drama as well lol. Something like Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru or Ao no Hako. Any romance show that's building towards something.

Thanks!

P.S. If possible please avoid any status-quo shows, where nothing really happens for the most part like Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san

Not exactly like the examples but judging from your 8s and above you seem to open to older and "unique" anime so you might like this, Tenshi ni Narumon!, there is more to it than it first appears and is cute and charming in my opinion.

As for me, I can't really think of anything in particular that I'm looking for right now so surprise me, just nothing from my PTW please.

Hmmm, I tend to stay away from darker anime from the 00s because a lot of them have overbearingly depressing messages about how much humanity sucks.
But this looks cyberpunky and kinda lewd so I'll give it a try. :P

@Kristiwazhere I see in that case if you're up for a heroic fantasy- action/adventure I'd say you can try Guin Saga as well. It's not as dark, or heavy as Speed Grapher either.

P.S. The anine is incomplete adaptation as the novel is still running (since 1979!!).

@KrypRem You seem to like cool fights and rather dark or gory stories, so I might recommend Claymore, Another, or Cyberpunk!

As for me, I don't have a lot of time to watch shows, so I would appreciate series with short episodes!
@Bicycle_Manual Since you're looking for series with short episodes I'd like to recommend Wan Sheng Jie, it's a silly sitcom-esque show about mythological creatures living in the modern day and one of my favourite short series! And if you're a fan of Pokemon or stop motion then you should definitely check out Pokemon Concierge!

As for me, I'd like a show with serious themes inspired by real history similar to Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi or a story relating to gaining freedom similar to Shingeki no Kyojin, thanks!

Hey everyone! One of the animes that has been absolute cinema in my opinion is Chi. Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite. I actually rarely like watching historical stuff and I wasn't a big fan of astronomy but it still managed to be one of the few anime's I've rated a 10 throughout my list.

If anyone wants to recommend me something feel free! I watch pretty much anything so if you find something that really alines with my highest rated anime, shoot!
@Hecatier Hi, I saw your highest-rated anime, and I think you would enjoy The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes

@yohaneygyul: Hi, I see it's already on your PTW but I'd recommend Undead Murder Farce! An urban fantasy with some dark undertones - not classified specifically as a seinen, but it's definitely mature and bloody at times. Quite an underrated show, but it's definitely as good as the two shows you've mentioned!

Hello! I see you have alot of wonderful SoL anime on your list, and seeing as Yuru Camp is one of your favorites i can't help but recommend Mono.

It is written by the same Mangaka as Yuru camp and features a lot of similar humor and comfiness (even some references to Yuru Camp). Instead of camping however it focuses on photography and traveling.

Hopefully it can be a cozy watch you'll enjoy! :)

I am surprised that you haven't watched Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill yet. It is an Isekai anime but almost everything is centered around cooking as the title suggests.

I'd love to have a music anime recommended to me, something like Love Live Nijigasaki Season 2, Bocchi the Rock, or Girls Band Cry. People always recommend K-On! but I am hoping to hear a different suggestion other than that.

Hopefully I get to see something similar to these recommendations. Thank you!
@Ksoro I hear you, music anime can be so good and touching, I've come across some really good ones, such as Kono Oto Tomare, Jellyfish Can't Swim At Night and Forest of Piano being really good with what I think is some very underrated characters and stories.

I'll propose Aikatsu and Pretty Rhythm: Aurora Dream if you want to try it, yeah it's two idol series for little kids but they are fun watches. I prefer Pretty Rhythm but you do you.

@Byronlove9 I looked at your favorites as well as your top genres based on your statistics before looking for recommendations. Here are a few that stood out to me that weren't on your list!

Since you like comedy, here are some series that made me laugh A LOT: Aggressive Retsuko (ONA), Ani ni Tsukeru Kusuri wa Nai!, & Beelzebub.

Drama was your top genre, so I want to recommend Beastars. I also want to recommend Ayakashi: Japanese Classic Horror even though it isn't tagged as a Drama, because in my opinion, it has dramatic elements within the stories that are told.

A final recommendation is Blood Lad which fits your top genres of action, comedy, and fantasy!

I hope at least one of these are an enjoyable watch for you. (= Happy Bunkasai!

Looking for anime that fall in the categories of: historical fiction, fantasy/supernatural and drama (bonus points if it's an anime with all of that combined!)

My recommendations:

If you're looking for psychological horror with gore elements Shiki
If you're looking for a short comedy that involves the yakuza Karaoke Iko
If you're looking for a historical setting with urban fantasy elements-and vampires-Vanitas no Karte
@iluvmozu Chi. Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite is not fantasy or supernatural, but it's definitely a good historical (albeit largely fictional ) and dramatic work that got me to think about things for some time after it ended. Highly recommended! ETA: and I just realized I was only looking at the first page and people have recommended you that already xD

@ohpishhposh I saw it in your plan-to-watch list but Yagate Kimi ni Naru is one of my most favorite. Too bad the anime ended half-way through the story but I can say the manga is definitely worth reading as well.

By the way, I'm also looking for "cute girls doing cute things" fluff.
I'd especially love to see ones with a bit of a moving plot (like in Machikado Mazoku) and not just slice-of-life but I know it's pretty rare so any "cute girls doing cute things" recommendation that you personally like (and I haven't watched) is fine :D

@ohpishhposh Since we are of the same age, you might want to try Yesterday wo Uttate. If you like it and manage to finish it, i also recommend watching the Extra Episodes.

You might also want to try Golden Time.

Both features mostly young adult characters and have many grounded moments so they can feel more relatable to us compared to the usual teenage rom-coms. Hope you enjoy them. Cheers :)

Sorry, it looks like you’ve already watched Fruits Basket, so I’ll recommend this anime instead: Jiisan Baasan Wakagaeru.

I see that you have Kanata no Astra in your plan-to-watch list, so I guess I can recommend it too. It has a really good story, though the vibe isn’t the same as Space Brothers since it’s a bit more serious. But it’s still definitely worth watching.

I'm currently confused on which anime titles to prioritize finishing before 2025 ends, among my "currently watching" or "plan-to-watch" list.

I'm aware there are some great titles there but i would like a push by someone who've finished and truly enjoyed them.

Thank you for your help.
@Xavion Complete Sonny Boy, this medium only has few of it's kind.

@Harisrox
Maybe I can recommend the Arknights anime. It has great animation, and even though the story can be a bit hard to follow, I still really enjoy it.
