There once lived a vampire known as Vanitas, hated by his own kind for being born under a blue full moon, as most arise on the night of a crimson one. Afraid and alone, he created the "Book of Vanitas," a cursed grimoire that would one day take his vengeance on all vampires; this is how the story goes at least.

Vanitas no Karte follows Noé, a young man travelling aboard an airship in 19th century Paris with one goal in mind: to find the Book of Vanitas. A sudden vampire attack leads him to meet the enigmatic Vanitas, a doctor who specializes in vampires and, much to Noé's surprise, a completely ordinary human. The mysterious doctor has inherited both the name and the infamous text from the Vanitas of legend, using the grimoire to heal his patients. But behind his kind demeanor lies something a bit more sinister...

Coming from the point of a manga reader I will be taking the adaptation into account for the most part. 4 episodes in and I can safely say that this is a very good adaptation so far. The scenes that they cut serve little to no purpose in the story and they were able to elevate some moments as well. Such as the charlatan parade, some minor fights and the flash backs which was a surprise in my case. Also considering that some parts that work in manga don’t work in anime format, the director has done a really good job imo.

Anime for tourist attraction. I’m just kidding

I heard some cut content but for me who haven't read manga before. It’s such a good adaptation.

I think it's a reflection of the past belief that the profession of medicine could not use science to support medical principles. It has to be proven over time that there is enough evidence that life-saving patients are available.

It’s so cool to combine the vampire world and 19th century Paris. I feel interested only main buddy and Dominique but other supporting characters. The secret of Vanitas still keeps me on track.

The vampirism still caught my eye.

Having a good buddy that just loves the series. It really made me want to check it out and see for myself when it had gotten an anime. The thing is now. I love te series too, and here is why.

Story and characters
I'm lumping these two in together, and it's mainly the cast that pull the show so far, and the reason why it's so entertaining. Vanitas and Noe have such partnership, how they banter across from another, to how they interact with eac other in general. Providing some laughs, some shocking moments, but the main thing is, they just work so well together. They read more

I'll keep this short and sweet: (NO SPOILERS)

You'll love this show if you're into vampires, male duos that are practically begging their fans to ship them together, and mystery anime that will leave the comment sections filled with manga readers excitedly answering your curious questions and hypotheses.

It's a better, more upbeat Mars Red with regular comedic relief and a more modern touch.
It has a detective vibe as well which is why I'm liking each new episode more than the last.

Story: 8
The 1st two episodes were nothing special, and I only watched the 3rd episode because I saw some hype about it on Instagram.

The 4th read more
