Kowloon Generic Romance Episode 1 Discussion

This is a strong candidate for AOTS for me. We need more tomboys in anime!

I haven't seen that other series so don't know what the other specific scene being referred to is, but agree there is a prevalent dislike of some of the recognized conventions and certain archetypal characters commonly found within Shoujo.

But as far as Kudo and the specific scene in this episode, like most scenes it's up to interpretation, but my impression from the way it was portrayed is that he was woken up unexpectedly, still half-asleep in that barely lucid state between deep sleep and wakefulness, and genuinely mistook her for another person. It's difficult to argue coercion or sexual assault when the intent isn't there. Of course from the outside third party PoV and perspective that might not hold up in a court of law especially between strangers rather than those without an established close relationship, but being a show we do as audience members gain a closer look and perspective and sometimes omniscient insight into characters' true selves and what makes them tick, and here, there is nothing in his attitude and behavior during or immediately afterward in the office portrayed which is out of sync with his verbal explanation of it, so it seems legitimate.
