| Maomao still can't that moment she was with Jinshi that other episode. Can't blame her really. Episode had a case of a "ghost" but yeah, they played this out in a much sillier way than expected. Maomao put her brains to use again. Good for her, she still hasn't lost her touch in the second half of this season. |

| Man got disrespected in broad daylight by Maomao just a couple of episodes back, but yeah, it seems that kind of gave Jinshi the confidence to tease around with Maomao in a way he never used to before lol. We all love some sort of development, so yeah let’s call it that as well. Btw, the entire story around ghosts wasn’t… actually around any kind of ghost, that much was pretty obvious, but yeah I’m just glad this opportunity somehow brought out the deal with Lishu’s working maids into light. As you see, they are still as disrespectful as they can be towards Lishu. Treating her like a kid isn’t a problem, but they’ve made it to a point where Lishu would be better off without any of them. Jinshi clapping back at one those who seriously thought she’s someone whose opinion mattered was one of the most awaited things I wanted him to do lol. You see, the ghost and all might just be a plain reflection off the mirror in the end, but yeah, trying to mock Lishu for something she holds dear was something worth getting punished over. Though that exactly didn’t happen, but I’m glad with the conclusion. The next few episodes coming will be really something btw. Looking forward... though hey they didn't really need to end this one with such cliffhanger lol. |

| It's bittersweet how contrary to how unnerving the first few encounters with the "ghost" were, you'd notice how gentle her smile is if you actually took a moment to admire it. I'm glad Jinshi made sure nobody would be able to take that from Lishu. Seeing Xiaolan so shaken ain't good for the soul, man. |
| As always a Lishu episode is a sad episode. Isn't grandeur problems in her life, is how badly she is treated normally and she being this sweet girl. Luckly for Suirei, she and Jishi never met. Gone from Lishu problem to Xiaolan problem. Both characters that I care. |

| Maomao STILL thinking about Jinshi “frog” and saying to herself how big it is really killing me y’all. You not fooling no one girl we know you falling for that man ๐ญ This last month been amazing for my Jinmao agenda I swear, we have been FEASTING. Jinshi been marking his territory BOLDLY lately I love it. Straight up told Gyokuyou he wants his Maomao “returned” to him. “I’ll make sure her lips are sealed” then the thumb to the lips, ahhhh fuck they’re trying to kill me I swear. Notice how he called her “Maomao” finally too ๐ฉ As usual, the Lishu “ghost” case had a simple scientific explanation with the water Vapor and light reflection on the mirror. It’s more that she wanted to see her mother’s reflection because of how much she misses her. Man her seiyuu performance during that scene broke my fucking heart because you gotta remember how young Lishu is and how she’s so far away from home, had this role thrust upon her and even her ladies in waiting are taking advantage of her. I got so fucking mad when ol girl snatched her family heirloom like that, the absolute audacity of that bitch. So glad Jinshi was there to put her in her place and get it back. From the looks of that hair piece, she had been making a nice living off stealing Lishu’s shit as well. Gross. Things are really starting to come to a boil with Jinshi wanting to tell Maomao about him being the emperor brother. I feel like at this point she has to really know but is sort of in denial and doesn’t want to believe it. No way someone as smart as Maomao hasn’t pieced it all together now. I reckon it has to come pretty soon though especially if they wanna get her on their side. Omg that ending, Xiaolan how did you bump into the ice sculpture, the anxiety is killing me ๐ญ |

| A ghost investigation, and a brutal cliffhanger... As expected, there was a good explanation for why Lishu saw a "ghost", and again, Maomao was up to the task for the investigation. Maomao might be dense in some areas, but she's still incredibly smart when it comes to solving the mysteries around the rear palace. It was definitely sad to see Lishu being mistreated, because from we have seen, I think she's a very kind and thoughtful person. Glad that Jinshi put that lady-in-waiting in her place. Maomao and Jinshi's relationship continues to be a big part of this second cour so far as well, because at this point, I think Maomao has her suspicions about Jinshi's identity, but she's just pretending it's not the case. I hope to see more of that get unravelled, but now, that brutal cliffhanger happened, and I really don't want to see Xiaolan in any sort of trouble. |

Maomao trying to explain that ghosts aren't real but getting interrupted by Lishu's grief was such a good scene, she's in such constant emotional distress, I need those ladies in waiting to be replaced with kind women :(((( Also, is it me or the new pretty eunuch looks like that one girl who faked her death once? Maybe they are related in some way. |

| Maomao still remembers Jinshi's frog ๐, and he is no fool: he takes advantage of that moment to approach her, even calling her now by her name. However, he does not know how to make Maomao believe him or, rather, listen to him. Every time Maomao is about to discover Jinshi's true identity, he decides not to investigate further. With Lakan involved, things get even more complicated: angering him would not end well. At first, I thought the ladies-in-waiting were using the ghost story to scare Lishu, but it turned out to be a sad story about his mother. Fortunately, Jinshi put that arrogant lady-in-waiting in her place and hopefully there will be news that she will be replaced by better companions. Poor Lishu, having to put up with so much mistreatment. Sometimes I wonder why she isn't stricter with her servants, but then I remember that she ended up in the palace because of her father. He wanted more status and respect, so he offered her to the previous emperor. Now it makes sense that her mother didn't object: she had passed away when Lishu was very young. Luckily, the previous emperor passed away and didn't get to harm him, and the current emperor is nothing like his father, taking care of Lishu instead. Please don't let anything bad happen to Xiaolan! ๐ญ She and Lishu are the precious smiles to protect in this anime. |

Poor Lishu, she doesn't deserve any of this. Not only does she not get a normal childhood but to be subjected to those kinds of ladies in waiting every day would only make it harder. To be constantly ridiculed and looked down upon, for no reason whatsoever. Lishu is a sweet girl who deserves kindness and compassion. I'm glad Jinshi put them in their place but honestly they deserve to be fired and never step foot in the rear palace again.
Maomao did well solving this latest mystery. Discovering the mold unlocked the answers for how the curtains were flapping. The copper mirror having an engraving solved how Lishu saw a floating face. The mirror being so precious to her, an heirloom from her late mother. I got worried the mean lady in waiting would break it. Lishu crying while thinking of her mom being mad at her broke my heart. That poor girl.
Jinshi dealing with his own dilemmas. Wanting to bring Maomao into their fold but knowing her father Lakan is a formidable obstacle. I wish we didn't have to see anymore of that vile man but Jinshi is right. He must be dealt with to bring Maomao over.

| @antonn Nothing particular. Just Lakan being Lakan. To the "normal" person hes just a weird and annoying guy whos hard to deal with. Tho, if you get on his bad side, he will make sure that you are going to suffer and regret your life. He is able to turn everyone and everything against you. He likes is obsessed with Shogi, Go and Maomao/his family. |

In a series where every girl is beautiful she was really ugly aswell, great job character designers as always. Should have made an example out of her would have put every other servent in line. Have to say this mystery wasn't good. Too many coincides lined up way too perfectly. But Lishu scene of her mother's memory was good. She really has it tough in many ways. Lakan will be back soon yess. He is rude and schemer but not a bad guy so I think he will help them out ig? But Maomao is coming so close to figure out and still didn't trying again. If I guess I think this new Eunuch could be Suirei. If anything happens to Xiolan, no one will be forgiven...๐ |

| Seeing Lishu cry actually brought tears to my eyes. Poor girl, man... JinMao nation is alive and well as we get more reasons to scream, yippeee. He's calling her Maomao now. I thought that would be saved for a special moment or something, but nope, my boy is ready. It's funny how scary and ominous he can be when he's fighting for what's right (I love him). Just like a certain apothecary that pull girls by the hair and throw poison at them, except more discreet... lol Suirei about to cause some shit. I wonder what her objective is, simply overthrow the nation? More rights to women? I feel like Maomao will understand her side when we get to that. Or I could be totally wrong. This is the disadvantage of anime adaptations, which bring in a large audience, not necessarily the most able to understand the relevance of an episode or not, and will classify what doesn't interest them personally as “filler”. Whereas we had to endure their Violet Evergarden series. |

| I love watching Jinshi and Gyokuyou being petty over Maomao lol. Finally that piece of shit lady in waiting showed her place, she should have been just dismissed. Lishu's too young and pure to show them their place. The new eunuch is sus. Either he's a woman or is working for Loulan or both. That ending though. Maomao better ask Jinshi to take care of it. |

Uh oh Xiomaos friend is going to need all the connections she can get.. I enjoyed the comeback of the rear palace politics, its by far my favourite part of this story. |

| Whoever makes Xiaolan cry should DIE!!!!!!!!! Jinshi had the balls (get it?) to finally ask Gyokuyou for "Maomao" (and not "Kusuriya") to be returned. As a pregnant woman who can't leave home too much, Gyokuyou wants to know what happened back then, and come on, she deserves to know about the frog haha! I can't imagine how crazy she will get. Maomao being the best detective in China at that point in time. |

I didn't find the scene lacking at all. Manga needs to rely on the art to show that kind of feeling, but the anime did well relying on his deameanor and voice instead. He felt threatening as hell. it was an incredible scene in my opinion. |

Having a different opinion doesn’t mean I “don’t get it.” I understood the mirror symbolism just fine. The problem is the execution—and the way Li Shu’s reaction felt out of place, given her history. Li Shu isn’t just some fragile, traumatized kid. She’s someone who’s lived in the palace for years—maturity isn’t optional in that environment. Trauma shapes people, but it doesn’t weaken them unless they’re written that way. I’m not saying the trauma doesn’t matter, but using it as an excuse to make a character regress for dramatic effect? Not cool. You don’t need to validate your opinion by calling others ignorant ๐ |

| Loved how Maomao solved the case as if it's a piece of cake, loved how Zuigetsu informed that cocky arrogant b!atch-in-waiting of her place, very disappointed about the fact that she & her gang of the other b!tches-in-waiting have been mistreating Lishu for years, and all they got off with was a warning? Come on, Zuigetsu. We know your status, as well as they, provide punishment when it is due, no matter what it is, but at the very least, kick em out. That aside though, that cliffhanger was brutal. How or why would you do that Xiaolan? I mean, i 100% trust that you never meant to do that, but it's your first job after your previous contract had ended, and you haven't even been there that long, and you do such a mistake?! I don't care about that jack of ice-gift, but you're so precious one don't want you either kicked out or punished any kinda way, due to how adorable you are. I hope Maomao saves her from that situation somehow, by either explaining that it wasn't Xiaolan's fault, or by being able to kinda put stuff together, and make an actual duplicate of that ice-gift to provide as a substitute for the one Xiaolan somehow broke. That aside, we finally talking about Lakan baby, my absolute favorite character in the whole show! I do not think for a million years Zuigetsu is winning against him, except if he just bluntly states his status while using his authority, which is a double-edged sword you're gonna be using there Zuigetsu, tread with care. That's it for me for now, tuned onwards. Edit: Nevermind, forgot the episode's post-credits scene, which i had just now saw, apparently Maomao just grabbed Xiaolan's hand & immediately tiger sprinted, so guess that's that. Also, saw a glimpse of an old man with aged hair & yellow eyes, might that be our glorious king Lakan? LET'S GO BABY! |

| Watching Maomao still can't get over what happened in the previous episode; I can't stop laughing. It was so euphoric! However, what the hell is with all the maids?!?!? They should better know their place! Acting as if they were the consort and such. Ugh! Hopefully, by this time, they know their place after Lord Jinshi intervened. Although I'm a bit hung up on the story, I felt the urge to need more!!! |
