Ah, the end of the journey, or as in their own way, their marriage plan. It was inevitable although the buildup that led to this had a lot of memorable moments even in this episode. Good to also see Asako one more time this season.

Takuya and Rika did learn a lot from each other and it was a life experience for the both of them. Awkward moments aside, I think their relationship chemistry is sweet.

Really do have to feel for Gonda here. Poor guy almost not only is still going through what happened, and now he's being shipped away off to Siberia... yeah the plan of the fake marriage worked and all, but at the cusp of their friend being shipped away. Looks like they didn't think that ahead eh.

Whatever though, because the main couple isn't looking too good... that was, for like, less than five minutes, because Oohara calls out to Honjouji... At this point, them both going to Siberia would've been way better, tbh. After everything they went through, them just giving up on each other was super disappointing and made no sense.

But in the end, dude asked her to marry him... because ofc it had to happen, it's THE whole point of the show. My only question, is this the point where the title goes from two people being awkward about faking an engagement to two people being awkward because they jumped straight to being engaged? At least the dumbest part of the show, the mysterious caller, is finally gone... literally was so pointless. Did like the whole copacetic thing or whatever at the end though, was pretty funny xD

A sweet finale yeah.. but that doesn't excuse the fact that everything up to this point was just... not good, to put it lightly. I mean, these guys are "adults" right... so why, for more than half the show, did they act like actual high schoolers. Whatever. Had high hopes for this, but was left majorily disappointed. Would rather this not get a sequel, as this ending is decent enough for this show.

The one who was making the phone calls threatening our main pair was actually that ikemen guy who works with them?!?!? Lol, I really need to know why tho.Anyway, as they say great minds think alike, they really do mean it. I mean to save Gonda from the Alaska transfer, these two literally confessed the truth to their boss lmaoooo. That was right too I mean, as Gonda has suffered enough tbh. Still that being that, when you’ve a boss like that you can get away with literally anything…

…. LITERALLY ANYTHING. Everyone deserves a manager/boss like Kurokawa. She’s the real MVP. Anyway, these two might NOT have acted their age at all throughout the series, but they did when it mattered. The self realisation kicking in at the right moment, and a real confession was all we needed as a finale. Felt a bit fast but eh, okay. They'll actually get married now. Now yeah, I’m not sure if we’ll get a second season after an ending of this sort. I mean the entire foundation this series was based upon… faking marriage to avoid getting transferred to Alaska is actually sorted now lol.

Still we’re only halfway through, so yeah it’d feel weird as well, not getting a second season that is, but okay, if anything, they at least managed to land the ending, and that’s an achievement in itself xD

With the rumours swirling of Gonda being chosen to go to Anchorage, Alaska, Takuya is in shock and tries speaking to Kurokawa to hold that decision by telling of their fake marriage, thus making him go instead, with experience telling him that he should not lie about matters that mean to him. However, instead, Kurokawa brings him to Rika, who exposed the truth all the same, and tells them both that she will go in their stead. In fact, Kurokawa's more eagar to go because she's a travel geek, and a holiday like this that while has her own family in tow, the world is out there for her and her husband being a travel companion.

When all is said and done, the fake marriage plan is no more, and plans are underway to clear all misunderstandings, plus with all of the associated costs to bear and things to throw out. The truth, however, is that they still have a thing for each other, and marriage is finally on the cards to bud that relationship with their confessions to each other, thus restarting their marriage plan, this time for real. The mysterious calls also turn from a curse to a blessing, as the awkward lovebirds slowly become husband and wife in complete bliss, tandem and harmony.

What a turnaround of events, though this is only halfway of the adaptation from the manga.
Would love to see the 2nd half adapted into Season 2, but this is a good non-rushed, alternate end in and of itself.

Hey would you look at that, a happy ending (sort of) for our two mains of workforce adults who acted like two preschool children the whole time even though they are not - the animation.

At least once i want to watch a work place anime where the adults are not by hormones driven teenegaers, like its good for comedy but man do they overuse it ... and especially here where they deal with such a mature topic as a marriage certainly is.

The ending we all expected they got married.
Would have loved to see more of the reactions of the families tho.
Also the leader going to Alaska was surprising.

Nah I can’t accept this ending. That confession was felt rushed and random. Their relationship had no progress the whole season, now all of a sudden they’re confessing? Doesn’t sit right with me

“Maybe we didn’t have any fated encounter or anything but can we get married anyway?”

Handholding ✅ actual confession ✅ Marriage is back on the menu boys! Nice finale, but you can tell there’s a lot more to this story we didn’t get to like Gonda and his girl’s situation as well as the actual wedding for Rika and Takuya. I’ll have to give the manga a read, but I enjoyed this one even if it wasn’t perfect.

The MVP of this finale has to be Kurokawa for volunteering in place of Gonda, Ohara and Rika to go to Anchorage. The whole situation is kinda stupid though because working in the US would pay more and you’d be under American work standards, even with the travel company being a nice place to work at, I really don’t get why everyone was acting like being sent to America is the end of the world lmao

They saved some Takuya characterisation for the last episode which had been one of my biggest criticisms of the story thus far that he was lacking as a character compared to Rika. Getting in trouble for lying to his mother explains why he’s honest to a fault. At first I thought that situation was dumb but the more I look at it she was just trying to instil some principles into him.

Ahhhhhh seeing Ohara and Rika as an actual couple and on first name basis(well, he calls her Rika) was so nice. I love hearing Rika just geek out over geography and geology it’s so adorable. I just hate that we’re ending right as they become a couple. That’s my big knock with series like this. Let me see them dating!

Still, really sweet watch. Nothing groundbreaking, but with a dearth of adult oriented anime we gotta take the ones we get in stride. I’ll miss these cute idiots.

Alaska demands its sacrifices huh. Still in the end im actually glad that they decided to come clean. Maintaining the lie really couldn't had been healthy mentally. The chief deciding to take the plunge though was surprising. Its nice that Takuya and Rika did as well.

The fake marriage ends here and the real thing starts, bliss. The both of them are so happy, really sweet. Asako san's a great girl. She did great. Cute stuff with them telling everyone at there and also Claudia looked cute.

Pretty decent adaptation. Sucks that this is only one cour cause the real sweet stuff starts from here. Hoping for a second season.

So did this finale adapt the ending of the manga or does the manga have more content after the wedding? I hate when we just get the buildup to a relationship and don’t see anything after that

this is the halfway point of the manga. chapter 50 out of 110.

Er so why didn't the manager just accept that Alaska transfer to start with and render the entire anime unnecessary lol?
Anyway this episode felt super rushed to me and I felt slightly nauseous with the "all turned out well" ending. It kind of felt like pro-marriage brainwashing propaganda.
That said I'll miss this show because I liked the characters which I suppose is mostly all that matters.
Decent romcom 7/10.

Well it was not as good as I had hoped.

Right up to the end, they kept doing the "Will they or Won't they" bit, which got old real quick.

Did they think we would would say "Oh they are going to slip up?". Nope, I knew it was just another trick, I said "He is going to run after her and propose", and he did.

The story that I wished they had settled was the coworkers and the woman with a child, that was more dramatic and interesting, although I thought she did him wrong in how she sprang that on him and unfair stopped seeing him, that's why I wanted to see that resolved.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

The show itself was middle of the road, but the final episode brought one of the most satisfying endings to any romance I've ever watched. It's simple, sweet, and charming. That's what I'll take away from this show.

@billybub It **felt rushed is what I meant to say, my bad.
But anyway, what else is left to see though? I feel like we don't need any extensions after they already got together yk, a few extra chapters to show the aftermath is fine but an equal amount of plot left seems somewhat boring

The lie that came true in the end. Thanks to the boss who decided to go to Alaska helped them to end up together.

I can say that I liked the series, but at the same time I did not. Let me explain: the series' approach to marriage is very well done, especially when dealing with the problems of the secondary characters. The guy in the "perfect" marriage, Gonda with the single mother, or even the princess who wasn't in love with the prince and turned out to be a lesbian: these parts I liked because they show various aspects of what a marriage or a relationship can be, something uncommon in romantic anime or in general.

The part I didn't like was mainly the relationship between Rika and Takuya; it didn't seem natural to me. I know it's because they both have communication issues, but as adults, I expected them to handle it with more maturity. However, the lack of communication was amusing. For me, it's another run-of-the-mill anime, but with its strengths.

Even though they never really “dated”, they’ve spent a lot of time together over the last few months and I think they know each other pretty well now, even living under the same roof. So yeah, it’s kinda weird that they just went straight to an engagement, but I don’t think it’s that out of the question considering.

I would’ve liked to see the wedding, even for a minute, but I guess they only covered half the manga and they’re hoping for a second season.

The guy who was making the weird phone calls, it didn’t really make a lot of sense. Apparently it was one of their coworkers.

A lot of people are saying it’s weird that they’re adults but they seem to be acting like teenagers when it comes to a relationship. Well, neither of them have ever been in a relationship before and they’re in their mid 20s, and this isn’t that strange for Japan. So I don’t think it’s that unusual they were acting that way. Neither of them have any experience and they don’t really know how to act in a relationship.

I really like this show. It was one of my favorites this season, and I’m perfectly happy with the ending even if there’s no second season. 8/10

One thing I thought was kinda funny was 2/3 through the episode where they do the real proposal, the camera pans up and the music swells in such a way it feels like the end of the episode... only for it to suddenly pan back down and they continue on with the show- clever fake out.

Overall, was happy with the series. It was a different take on the rom com genre and that was what made it enjoyable. Doubtful of a season 2, but the story we did get was entertaining. And a glimpse at who the mysterious voice was good to see so at least we got some closure to that subplot.

That bit towards the end where they got all glowing- considering how Rika was borderline robotic with her emotions through much of the series, it great to see her end on a note where she's finally able to allow herself to be honest with her feelings.

Definitely a solid 8/10- wasn't blown away but it was entertaining. If there is more story to tell, I hope another season is considered.

One more Fall 2024 show done, on to Winter 2025

I liked the manga for this but the anime adaptation felt really flat and the characters and the relationship just didn't move me anywhere near as much here than with the manga, the final episode here in particular with the real engagement was nice but felt too rushed and since I wasn't as immersed with Rika and Takuya in this version, the moment didn't impact me much. The chemistry just doesn't translate as effectively. Disappointing as a whole.
