Oreimo not scared but it broken something in me. With the ending in the last OVA. The good thing out of that is I found my reason to dig my niche which I still enjoy 10 years later so I say it was a silver lining in a dark cloud.

I remember I was watching an anime on TV, I think it was about 20 years ago, that had a guy in front of two naked girls, then he gets impaled in the heart. I guess it was a vampire anime, but I never found out which one it was.

I never watched anything like that as a kid. Partly because that sort of thing didn't interest me, and partly because I was smart enough to walk away when I sensed something might traumatize me.

I watched Grave of the Fireflies when I was around 9. I don't think any further explanations is needed but...

Then there was Pan's Labyrinth, but that's not anime. My parents rented it from the children's section because at the time there was the belief that everything that was animated or had to do with fantasy was for kids, which led to this kind of screw-ups sometimes.

I don't know what it was but around year 2000 I saw my cousins watch something with like a shinigami with a cart and he had a house full of lit candles and when he put one off, the connected person was killed. That scared me, ok.

I haven't seen all of Barefoot Gen but I saw the bombing scene on YT when I was very young. However, you could also argue that this was a positive experience, as it showed me the real devastation of Hiroshima from a very young age, before school had even had the chance to whitewash it.

My earliest memory of anime was the opening to episode 5 of Cowboy Bebop: Ballad of Fallen Angels. After the line was delivered, it faded to white, and a gunshot went off. I was four. lol

It wasn't until I was 19, that I finally rediscovered what made me carry that weight...

None because I started watching anime when I was 15 and I was too old to be afraid of such shit xD but when it comes to things outside of anime, I was afraid of Coraline, when I think about it I feel uneasy and I will never watch it again so as not to destroy those beautiful memories xD

You'd think Shou Tucker would have, but I had already been numbed to level of shocking at that point. I thought seeing some dudes head get sliced in half in Darker Than Black would have done something, but I got over that pretty quick.

I usually don't chat/comment on the forum (except for anime episodes, etc), but I felt I just had to get this out when I saw the name of the thread.

I can't be the only one who was traumatized by School Days..

I HATE 'Makoto' (the main male character) with passion, and I regret never listening to the warnings about that anime.

It took me 2 years before I could finally stand hearing Daisuke Hirakawa's voice again, and I still don't like it to this day.

@reysune It's starting to make me curious too. I watched Inuyasha like 3 times, it was my favourite anime back when I was 12. I don't remember any scene being even close to scary.

Thinking back, people are saying they were *really* young, so maybe it is simply the design of some Yokai (Japanese demons).

The show is a shounen about a modern girl that can travel back in time to Feudal Japan. She joins forces with a group and they travel the land to collect shards of a jewel. Those fragments can make Yokai (demons) more powerful.

It isn't supposed to be a scary anime, but maybe it's the demons. Like how someone in this thread mentioned No Face from Spirited Away. Curiously, I loved No-Face, even as a little kid. I thought it was so cute

@reysune Well, the series sometimes has an eerie atmosphere overall, and many of the yokai have terrifying appearances. It can be quite unsettling, especially when you are a child.

Exactly, but I add all of his scene in Naruto.😰
Seriously when he changed is face against Sarutobi (he had a woman's face and laugh like crazy) I was🤢🤯🤢.
Even his theme is disturbing.
I prefer to be in the same place with Sukuna,Muzan,Hisoka than Orochimaru.

@RyogiSHIKI7 I remembered this scene. She seemed creepy to me too. Especially his ability to change his face makes him a hidden threat (like a snake in the long grass)

I don't have that many memories about it, but I think it was more about the "dark and oppressive" vibe.
Around the same time I remember that I had the "Power Rangers: Wild Force" cassette tapes, but could never watch those Zen-aku episodes that were in a cave because they scared the shit out of me to the point of crying... but once again, it's been so long that I can't remember why.

BTW, I also just remembered: The Animatrix.
Specifically the "Second Renaissance" episode.
Parts like mankind filling the skies with smoke filled me with a sense of dread, and that scene where a kid asks about their parents to agents really scared me.

@thewiru Okay, you do have a point. A lot of those Yokai are based on real-life mythology, and mythology can be really creepy. The show is overall goofy and light-hearted, but some of what those Yokai did is coming to mind and yeah, I guess it can get quite dark sometimes.

And I also just found out the show is rated PG-13, so I guess that checks out

I still remember that time 2 years ago when my friend who was a new student at the time showed us the wonders of "Aki-Sora" on their fudging school Chromebook. Hell, they didn't even stop at showing us the anime, they even showed us the manga too. Safe to say, I was definitely scarred.

Also when I first started really getting into anime like back in 2019 or 2020 or something my old friend a grade ahead of me who was already a weeb taught me some wise words, “Never watch the shows called Highschool DXD or Seven Deadly Sins, They're weird” or something along those lines. So I just never watched them, ever.

But you know who did watch one of them? MY FRIEND BECAUSE HE KEEPS SHOWING ME THESE STUPID HIGHSCHOOL DXD CLIPS AT SCHOOL AND SPAMMING ME WITH THESE STUPID GIFS OF THE SHOW IN MY MESSAGES LIKE FUDGE OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!
