Cheating is a common enough phenomenon in real life that it's hard to not sympathize with either or both parties. Whether it'd be because someone's getting cheated on, or escaping an unhappy relationship by sleeping with others, or even being forced to do sexual acts while your partner can't stop the one who violates you, it can be a very relatable experience. Unlike the more extreme fetishes that go against the moral grain, this one feels too true to many people's lives, so it can be a turn off for some, including me. |

At some point, whether it be at the beginning, halfway through, or at the end, it focuses on the guy (or in extremely rare instances the girl) getting cheated on, and it's hard not to imagine yourself in that same role with how much they emphasize it. It also doesn't help that a lot of new NTR stuff is the same stuff that doesn't really make sense. Some authors and artists are also seemingly very attracted to it, either having works that are only NTR/cheating, or throwing a curveball and forcing it in somewhere down the line. Additionally, some people may have had bad experiences in real life when it comes to cheating, and NTR may hit too close to home. I don't know why, but NTR is one of the only things I have a hard time accepting in fiction, even when I'm able to separate everything else from reality. Like how I'm not morally against extreme gore torture porn type stuff, I just have zero interest in consuming it.
