Personally, it's Mononoke and Ping Pong the Animation. I'd also like to mention Madoka Magica, but in my opinion, they could easily flesh it out with more episodes because, for a short series, they had a pretty rich and grand story.   |

The reason why I entered into the world of anime, my first series watched, still my #2 overall ranked, and one of only seven anime series I've extended a 10/10 to, out of 237 rated. Actually, I'll provide a Top 10: 1.) Koi Kaze 2.) Haibane Renmei 3.) Serial Experiments Lain 4.) Usagi Drop (11 episodes, but close enough that I think it fits into that same paradigm) 5.) Elfen Lied 6.) Kaiba 7.) Happy Sugar Life 8.) Aku no Hana 9.) Sora no Woto 10.) Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World (2003) |
| A place further than the universe does everything in 12 episodes and more. Second would probably go to Madoka Magica, if you don’t count the movie as a “sequel” (which is also absolutely amazing) For one that the others have not mentioned, Tsuki Ga Kirei encapsulates realistic romantic drama well in its runtime |

| If one cour and done like most people are assuming then: So Ra No Wo To (14 total including the 2 special episodes).  These three are really, really close behind, though: Akebi-chan no Sailor-fuku Yagate Kimi ni Naru Just Because! They're all dear to my heart and I've re-watched all of 'em several times. Would totally agree if anybody mentioned Haibane Renmei though. It just doesn't have the same re-watch value ('cause it's a bit depressing) despite its excellent story and message. Everything I listed got 9 scores from me. |

| Cyberpunk:Edgerunners Even with only 10 episode it has left a huge impact in my heart. I mean all the information it delivers in just 10 episode is bonkers. Character building, action, drama, romance everything in just 10 episode. If anyone asks for the shortest but still the best anime I have watched, it would definitely be Cyberpunk Edgerunners and I don't see it changing anytime soon. If you haven't watched it give it a try. You could honestly finish this in one sitting. I mean it's a masterpiece for delivering so much different kinds of emotions in "JUST 10 EPISODES". I seriously can't give enough complements for this anime. Even the animators(Studio Trigger) did really nice with those action scenes. In my opinion this is a masterpiece with just 10 episodes that rivals some of the best shounen with 100s of episodes.  |
