Yup, more practicing and getting ready for the upcoming match. Although it felt slow paced, I think it's kinda important for everyone to be at their best.

I'm really curious to see who will make the biggest impression. Maybe they should do more of that silly song to get the players hyped lol. Anyways, this is looking to be an interesting match.

Sawamura's new cutter is looking hype. Poor Okumura could barely react to it.

A solid hit by the cheetah at the end.

I don't want Furuya to fail in this match, but I would love to see Sawamura saving the day ._.

Hype OST at the end, come one Haruichi.

It seems like Furuya's mind is in the right place because he thinks that by becoming the best pitcher he can help the team win but there might be something wrong about how he's approaching his goal.
The fact that Kataoka let Furuya start shows some bias because even Ochiai said Sawamura would have been a better starting option so it must be because of the diary from Furuya that made Kataoka biased.

The showcasing of some of the numbers this episode didnt look nearly as exciting as in the manga but it was nice to see them animated. The improved cutter sounds lame though. Cutter custom and overhaul cutter are better translations from the manga. The voice actors called it "Cutter kai". That cutter is basically the one that even Miyuki failed to catch from season 2.
Okumura's flexibility might be something unique to him only because Yui was impressed by how easily he adjusted to a new pitch. Need to see more of him as a catcher.
Overall decent episode. glad to see how Eijun actually improved a lot despite still being unstable with some of his numbers and gained some significant experience in Koshien, not just Furuya. Now we just have to see Eijun show it in a game.

Decent episode, the moments between Sawamura and Okumura are always interesting and Okumura seems to be a more talented catcher than Yui....

but the animation ..... man, why it looks so rigid

I like how the inspiration of the new cutter is from the moving changeup that Eijun threw in season 2. Just like how Miyuki couldnt catch that changeup at first Okumura couldnt catch that cutter either

For this episode I want to be Coach Kataoka because he can read all player's diaries.
Those diaries look very open mind, like we never know what Furuya really think because he doesn't talk much but he writes all those feeling into his diary. In fact I want to read from other schools too, especially Hongo, where is he now! (and 'personal diaries' are also very welcome)

I agree about Furuya, so much. Well, I think Furuya's heart is in the right place even if his self-absorption also comes off strongly. He means well though and genuinely wants what's best for his team. The problem is that a) he's too daft to think deeply and critically and b) he's left to his own devices too much to figure out what he's lacking. In his mind, he "just wasn't good/powerful enough to beat Hongou". Yes Furuya but you're coming to the wrong conclusions. For one, even if you were the best pitcher in Japan at the time you faced Komadai, it means jack shit if the batters don't score runs and shit their pants at flamethrows as though they've never encountered any fast pitches in their lives. Also, Komadai is great because they're not just about cowering behind Hongou. Finally, I like ya but the problem is you're a one-trick pony, Furuya! Work on improving your other pitches so they're viable (I think he has a splitter and/or slider that is/are pretty poo-poo), start working on picking off runners, get out of that immature "I need to make the team win" mindset and understand that there's a far bigger picture in baseball, etc... not just throwing the ball faster!

And [pitcher] bias is one of Kataoka's most obvious flaws as a coach... =/

Haha, sadly this is unique to Seidou since Kataoka is a literature teacher. I would love to read the baseball and personal diaries of Komadai's players as well. x'D They're forces of nature rather than "people", so it would humanize them a lot. Plus Hongou talks even less than Furuya; most of his "dialogue" has been internal so it would be cool to see what the best pitcher of his year level is thinking.

But seriously, it's further insight into Furuya's mind as he declines. He's quiet, stoic and socially inept plus we rarely get to see anything from his perspective... He's ripe for misunderstanding most of the time. I get why the fandom is unhappy with him but it's still kinda sad.

Koushuu could feel and see for himself that Sawamura is the real deal. I still don't like his attitude, but his imagination is something for sure. xD And going by what he wrote Furuya really is pressuring himself, let's see what's going to happen during this match. Right now the start is looking promising for Seidou, but it has just started.

Great episode as always.

Loved how they showcased Sawamura's technique in the first half.

Koshu vision is so awesome, that demonic aura Miyuki cracked me up. xD

Third High batsmen are men of culture, wanting Hayamin to be the bat fairy. I can totally see that and I would totally love that. XD

Kuramochi with the leadoff plays, come on Haruichi!
I wanna see Miyuki hit a homerun.

I'm feeling hyped up from this episode!

Ichidai's coach: "Looks like we'll both be fielding our best players"

INB4 Kataoka be like "you guys are underestimating Sawamura" xD.

I'm just speculating but I really hope Sawamura can contribute to this game in some way. Looking forward to the next episode as always!

Yes! I've been waiting for an episode like this one. It was really good and very exciting! Worth the watch.

Sawamura's pitch looks freaking amazing and Koshu's reaction to it was even more so. Miyuki is such a clown lol I wanna see him catch that "imperfect" pitch of Sawamura's in a game already!

I'm ready for the next episode~

Sawamura and Okumura have some really interesting chemistry as characters. I like it. Feels like they're building towards them becoming a battery at some point, and I'm all for it if that's the case.

After so much Furuya showcasing this season, this was refreshing. Good episode.

Great episode! Irrelevant to baseball but i loved how around minute 7 the background music is a song from the Beatles called "hey bulldog" i get fan crazy about stuff like that. Hmm so far am not a big fan of Okumura's voice actor i cant see the voice fitting him :/ . I wish they animated Okumura's imagination of Miyuki dishing him i wanted to see it animated cause it seemed funny :/ too bad ....I like watching Amahisa play he s funny! Let's hope for a match without too many still images! The ichidai people want the batting fairy ! i want the animation fairy!

LMAO, close the thread, we have our winner! x'D

Seriously, I really like this match so I hope it gets justice. Will it be Amahisa's turn to get rendered like he took a fastball to the face? Only time will tell...

Also OVA 3 shows that the Seido dorm has public diary where everyone can write a request to dorm keeper. I just love to live at that dorm!

What about the animation? Sometimes it annoyed me, and it's not like I have too high standards, too much rigid.

I love how Ookami shounen (Wolf boi) is gradually warming up to Eijun. Nishishi! It was nice seeing him impressed and even overwhelmed by Eijun's pitches! XD

I really, really love their dynamics! :D

I’m so proud of Eijun, he’s finally showing the fruit of his labour.

I’m glad Okumura got to experience Eijun’s pitches.

Hold up, I thought Eijun was going to start the game since the other team has a lot of left-handed batters?

I have a feeling they're gonna lose this game against Ichidai, to allow a development for Furuya.
