| Citing the popularity chart on Mal is incorrect. The chart only charts MAL users, which are more invested than the average anime watcher. There's no fucking way that globally, Angel Beats, No Game No Life and Mirai Nikki are more popular than Naruto Shippuden. The average person that has only seen DBZ and Naruto growing up probably hasn't even heard of Re:Zero, Noragami, or Toradora. "Normie" anime are almost always kids anime or battle shonen. There's a few exceptions, Death Note, some ghibil movies, etc, but normie anime almost always fall under those catergories. |

| Like others here I’d say it’d be the top 100 popular anime. There’s nothing wrong with liking popular anime but you can’t deny almost all of them have been quite up there in conversations throughout the years and are easily recognisable for both newer fans and older fans. |
