The End of Evangelion and it´s not even close. But I guess you can put Akira and Spirited Away over there, considering how much impact they had.

These are my top 10 anime movies so far and I have this spoiler tag on my profile page. There are some nice key visuals for each title if people are interested enough to want to have a look through them. It's a random, shuffled, top 10 because the exact order is constantly changing depending on my moods and whims:

Your name is great as a body-switch flick and does a good job with all of that mistery bait, but its weak as a romance. In fact, it didnt even need to be a teen romance in first place. Shinkai should stop forcing something hes not good at. A Silent voice is superior because it has deeper characters and the romance flows better . Spirited away was average. trippy experience, but no message.

Probably Spirited Away if I am going to be honest. Everything about the movie is perfect.

My personal favorite anime movie is probably either Perfect Blue, Angel's Egg or Belladonna of Sadness though. Those films arent for everyone but I think anyone who appreciates art and fantastic story telling would love Spirited Away whether they like anime or not.

The obvious ones have already been stated, but my two favorites are "A Silent Voice" and the not often mentioned favorite "I Want To Eat Your Pancreas".
Both can still bring tears to my eyes even after watching them like 5 times.
While I'm at it my favorite series is "You're lie in April". The finale episode is incredible.

For me it was: Nōgēmu Nōraifu Zero or No Game, No Life the Movie: Zero.

Judge me if you will but I loved the story, the animation style and usage of vibrant colors and its total uniqueness from typical anime.

Shout out for NGNL Season 2!

Standalone movie-wise, Perfect Blue by far.

If it's all anime movies (including franchise movies), then the 7th movie for Kara no Kyoukai. That one outranks everything for me. But of course, the previous movies and their roles and storylines play parts in making the 7th movie feel really impactful and emotional for me.

In terms of standalone movies, probably A Silent Voice.

If you're including movies from within a franchise, then it's a tossup between the Madoka Magica Rebellion movie or Heaven's Feel's Lost Butterfly or the Violet Evergarden movie.

it's absolutely and without doubt the disappearance of haruhi suzumiya.

BUT.

end of evangelion, perfect blue, dawn of deep soul, madoka magica rebellion, redline, and a silent voice are also exceptable answers, at least out of the ones that I have seen.

It's hard to choose but I would definitely say either Penguin Highway or The Wind Rises. They both have many aspects that are amazing from animation to the stories. Definitely suggest them to anyone who loves good stories, animation, and philosophy.

I'm curious though: What makes you think that? Or what would you say is the best anime movie of all time? It seems random to come on here saying someone's tastes sucks without even answering the question, that said I feel there is no perfect answer for this because everyone connects to movies and anime in different ways :)

A silent voice felt overrated to me for some reason. I feel like the movie format was too short to bear any weight towards the climax of the movie since I wasn't too attached to any of the characters. The premise was good though, but I felt if it was a full length series where they fleshed out the characters more, it would've been more impactful. Say make the childhood events the first half of the series & then have a time-skip by the second half where things go south & ect. Anyways enough of my tangents already.

This is a hard question, since there many great anime movies. But if I have to pick one (Not including sequels) I'd say either Perfect Blue, Ghost in the Shell, or Princess Mononoke.
