Agate seems like a pleasant person to be around with tbh..friendly, sociable, and is also an idol. This episode put her on the spotlight even though she's not one of the main party members.

Seems this anime still has its interests in casino too. Honestly, I think they really wanted us to understand Agate as a person in the show.

Damn agate and Donny story was pretty realistic. A lot of people who become successful athletes or musicians have friends and family who constantly ask for money. This how mfs end up broke. I don’t think Donny was inherently a bad person but he did see Agate as a way to support his gambling addiction.

Another well written mature plot line from this series, continues to impress.

The idol Agate is an interesting character around Nick, spewing nonsense that he doesn't understand, like the time in Episode 1 where after Mr. Former Stray Dog got booted out of his party, and her empathy caused her to give him a ticket to be invited to her idol concert. At a time where he had nowhere to go, Agate showed him the way, even if it was a teeny bit.

Agate's backstory of her alias Bell Haggins getting scouted by music producer Joseph Coleman of Jewlry Productions, and I can tell that the establishment owner-cum-manager Donny has wanted to use her for his own gains for all the while on gambling. But Agate wasn't that way, and she wanted to haggle for much better conditions during her idol days, the dream still livable before things went south. Her overseeing Nick's rejection from Claudine at the time when he was desperate and lost hope, and having to see Donny be overwhelmingly defeated by Tiana the last episode to get back at her, plus the paladin goddess that she is enamored in, all of the plot points finally click together.

Donny losing Agate to Joseph, utilizing her for money than to live the dream that they once mentioned, she had enough of the lonewolf life. Donny, injured and wanting to get back at Joseph, entrusts his current lifestyle of gambling to make his point, but it's clear that Donny isn't needed any more, and the two separate their ways. With that, Agate's solo comeback concert with Nick in attendance, she re-accounts what happened last episode at the casino, together with the beautiful paladin that gave her the strength to carry on with her idol life, encouraging fellow adventurers to fight on.

Everyone is human, having worries and the like, and it deeply touches the heart for a reconciliation, especially between Nick and Agate.

It's episodes like these that tell me that this is not just your typical Isekai fantasy show.

I sound like a broken record, but this show, when it manages to somehow align, it's really good and engaging all the way through.
Props for standing out in a different way, the 2nd time now.

i don't know about anyone else but I am getting really bored with all those episodes about their hobbies and stuff like that.
The same goes with a math contest.
I mean you have a unique fantasy world with a team that are struggling to trust each other at being a party but you waste time on math contest, going to brothel, gambling stuff and idol concert.
I was expecting something more exciting than this. some adventure, it is just annoying and boring at this point.

So that’s how agate has become an idol and she was also on the casino that day with the Paladin.
That’s the problem with money and humans.

So it was the idol, Agate, from the previous episode. I too was surprised that we got backstory from her since she's not one of the main adventurers. I don't think she knows that it was Tiana and Nick that combined to form the goddess that Agate saw but regardless I'm curious what further role, if any, she will have.

An episode centred around Agate this time. The Blue haired idol that helped Nick at the start of the season.

Her backstory with Donny seemed pretty realistic. With Donny using her and gambling away all the money she gives him. But it was what happened at the casino that spurred her on and encourage her to keep her idol life going. The "Paladin" or Nick and Tiana's union encouraged her and helped her.

Kinda interesting I guess. Does this mean that we will be seeing a lot more of Agate in the future? Since we have a full episode on her and she isn't even in the main cast or even team.

just when I thought this anime can't get more uninteresting. I should have dropped it at the first signs. whatever this story is trying to accomplish heavily relies on the characters but they come off as boring and generic even with their quirks. the art is atrocious. I won't even bring up the animation.

For a show with only 12 episodes they are really beating around the bush to show us why they are the Hero's to save the world.

Why would we care about Agate's backstory? Because it fueld the reason behind Nick going out and being an adventurer again? You could have done that in 10 minutes or less.

And the art and animation... I dont know what happened but I feel like it fell off hard.

The world is unique but these past two episodes have been brutal.

The show seemed promising at first, but the more episodes I watch the more I feel disappointed. The characters' backstories and personalities aren't that appealing, the worldbuilding is wack, the overall storyline is absent, the humour is scarce. This episode just cements it further. Also, what a waste of Ishihara Kaori's talent as a singer - the insert song was so low-quality that even her singing couldn't save it.

I feel like this is "save the budget; the anime." Was not expecting we'd see the idol girl getting a backstory. So she's the version of a bard in the fantasy world. Yeah that makes sense, she still feels very out of place. Same with her manager, and the bar scene where she's wearing that red dress. If you showed that clip out of context people wouldn't guess its a fantasy anime.

an episode dedicated to the character development of a random mob character? i'll be disappointed if she doesn't play a bigger role later and i ended up having my time wasted for nothing. i'd prefer a beach/onsen filler episode instead....just saying.

To me, these last two episodes have felt as filler, before (hopefully) a big finale.
As someone said above, I hope Agate ends up playing a big role later or these two episodes will look worse in my eyes.

I think these two episodes are not great in a fantasy/isekai/adventure story that was focusing so far on the relationships between the main characters and their backstories (I'm fine with the maths episode for that reason : it was a way for Nick to find closure and for the party to come together as one), and their adventures.

Now if I look at them from, let's say, a Slice of Life perspective, they're decent and well written, although the fact that they focus on secondary characters for the most part left me feeling a little bit bored.

So this is starting to feel like a wasted anime.
Don't get me wrong, I think it's good and enjoy it but there's no way there story will get any sort of conclusion now with only four episodes left unless they do something cheap like a major time skip.

If this have had 24 episodes or a confirmed second season it would have been one of my favourites in recent times but as of now I cant fully enjoy it anymore because odds are it will have a unsatisfying end that will frustrate me.

As much as I love most things, this eps was a very feely eps but felt out of place with the currents eps so far, seemed to have little conclusion like the other character intros and bordered on a little bit meh. Decent episode at the wrong time. Destroyed the general flow of the show, and co-opted the entire point of the show where if this was a pantomime snow white and the seven dwarfs called in sick and they replaced the actors with rocks where people shout out the lines from behind the curtain

even idols have personal problems to deal with whether it's pressure from society or dealing with an ex boyfriend, pretty nice episode, it tells us more about Agate chan's character, Donnie's really not a bad guy even though it seemed he was, Bell looks so mature before she became an idol, it's like she was a mature woman instead of a teenage idol lol

LOL Agate trolling Nick pretty hard there... holy shit hahaha
i was just checking, people were saying that gambling girl was also Agate, but her eyes here have extra colors that the other one didn't have... i'm confused

she gave him the ticket to cheer him up, but being an idol fan can go right or incredibly wrong, so she is happy that he is actually doing better now, and he said the same thing
something is troubling Agate, she is on hiatus from idol work... if it's because she got a boyfriend and is now gambling, then it's explained lol

her backstory now, she used to sing on her lover's bar, even tho not many people would listen to her, until that guy who scouted her, and 2 other girls, and they accepted after watching the concert
the part with Agate's hair was quite funny, i like those kinds of scenes
as her time as an idol grew happier, her time with her bf got worse, and he kept asking her for money, we know for what, he tried to go to the casino and kept losing lol
one of those times she saw Nick and claudine ... and some time later, she also saw Tiana in last episode
the idol producer took over bf's debts but with that, it's the end of the couple... LOL that was actually her idea and the guy was scared ... she saw him again in town but he ignored her

back from her hiatus, she is doing a solo concert, and telling everyone about her paladin, the fusion between Nick and Tiana, who saved her from a monster
a song dedicated to the paladin... and so much for being a solo concert lmfao her 2 partners came and all 3 are now weilding a sword
she was talking about minstrels, singers with a little harp who travel and write songs (cough genshin) and how idols are somewhat similar

she was back to troll Nick again, how funny she is
but indeed, she is a lot better than last time, the thing that was worrying her is gone
but now, her "problem" are all the lost puppies wan wan lol she sounds like the dog girl from Ars no Kyojuu
favorite "new girls" from summer <3 ... click sig for older seasons and more possible picks (rip all the other choices)

Okay so basically Donny had a dream of making a making a world renowned-restaurant, Agata fell in love with him due to that dream.
Donny then met the harsh reality of life and wasn't successful, he kept failing and tried to get money elsewhere.
In the end he fell into gambling and kept believing he would be able to get more money with the money Agata was giving him but he failed and that even in front of her while being at the casino.
Even after the attack, he nevertheless still said he loved Agata not for her money.

So for me basically:
1.Donny has a dream.
2.Reality breaks his dream.
3.He become delusional that he can make more money through the casino and ask money from Agata.
4.He still says he loves her not for the money.

Nevertheless, Agata does one of the most cruel and heartbreaking breakups.
She says that she gambled on the wrong person and that he was only seeing her for her money even as he claimed otherwise.
She even requests that they should never talk to each other again.

Instead of talking about this money issue earlier and refusing to give him money + asking him to stop gambling and try another path in life as restauration didn't work.
She breaks up with him directly in one go without discussing about it first, worse she breaks his self-esteem saying she gambled on the wrong person and even ask that they should never talk to each other again even worse she does it all covertly and shifts all the blame to the manager making it appear she chose success over him and that he was not professionally good enough for her. She secretly arranged one of the worst breakups and her boyfriend will never know the truth while having his self-esteem shattered forever. This is one of the shittiest betrayal that can be done for me.
Worst of all she believes that it was for his good.
A normal talk and a normal breakup while staying friends would have been fine not this shitty breakup. If i was in Donny place I would have a permanent scar in my heart and some thought of revenge/hate/disgust for her.
She is not a bad person but her actions are so evil.
For me this is literally where the saying comes "Good-natured clueless people are more dangerous than bad-natured knowledgeable people "

I'm trying to think buy does agate even know his name is nick rn? I don't remember her ever hearing it and she just refers to him as stray dog lol. I'm not even sure nick knows he is the paladin lol. Maybe, better chance then agate knowing he is nick. During her song agate mentioned *she wanted to be a bard for heroes*, so I think if she ends up in the party the chances of them getting together should be better. I just hope they don't pull that shit where agate and tiana get close considering her infatuation with the paladin and her designating the paladins gender as female. I hope not lol

Why am I liking this anime so much more going through each episode.

And when the idol said about that goddess (mage) damn I was so jealous/ feeling bad (maybe) for Nick.
The idol thought of the mage as the savior but Nick was there too, I don't know if she will know it in the future tho.
And as far as it is going idol girl might be the main waifu for Nick.

Thus is so damn bad. This is the first time my suspension of dusbelief was broken over this part...
And the story is getting really boring. I was going for something more adenturous - I mean, they are supposed to be saving the world... somehow in the future but right nie this is stuck on character development only through exposition...
