Great episode and great season overall, so many thanks go to Studio 4°C for doing this. My only wish is that we would've gotten a continuation announcement at the end! Lack of that makes me think there is little chance that they want to embark on that project, but I do have hope for new project(s) in the future, even if it is not them doing it. IMO, this is now the best adaptation of the GA. The movies were always good to me, but they were definitely missing key moments. This fixes that completely with all of the additions.

Damn. As a first time watching anything Berserk, i must say that I'm impressed and now I see, that this manga totally deserved all the popularity and iconic status it has.
I wish someone would continue it (properly), because those 13 were seemingly just a prologue.

As great as the berserk story is I wish they would stop milking it, and just redapt the sequel or at least pick up on the manga. Lord know it has more content to out last one piece/(Naruto)Boruto in terms episodes. Alas, a man can dream. 😶

It def doesn’t have enough content for something like one piece or nuurto. Even if u did drag out scenes and make a bunch of filler content like they did, it still wouldn’t be enough

Ok yah, it probably wouldn't beat out One piece in episodes. Over reaction on my part, but dam I just wish the manga to get its proper respects/anime.

The rape scene didn't really feel like rape, but twas hawt asf i had a huge boner. But damn I feel like this is just another showcase to a end of a legacy. I'd rather have a remake of the black swordsman arc.

Me to. I would love if they got the poeple who did the 97 anime to adapt it, but obviously that’s not gonna happen lol

It was fucking awesome. I am bummed they didn't announce a continuation project, nonetheless it was fucking great experiencing this story and these three movies again. I loved them the first time, but I'm in a situation where I am unlikely to re-watch stuff since I'd rather watch new things I haven't experienced before. With this TV edition they gave me an excuse to watch this adaptation again and I really enjoyed the experience.

This my first time watching Berserk, and man this 13 episodes was fantastic, i see a lot of still don't like this adaption, but for me as a person who watched 2D and 3D anime they did really do a fantastic job, if we would get a sequel, hopefully the same studio who made this anime work on it.

I heard that Berserk 2016 is a sequel to this Arc, should I watch it?, of course im talking here about story not the animation, did they adapted the manga decently? Cuz i really don't like reading manga.

Welcome to beserk. It is fucking amazing.

The 2016 series gets shit canned alot by pretentious wankers because it has pretty bad CGI. The storyline however is still great.

Manga is still the way to go however.

The prologue you're talking about is the Black Swordsman Arc. It sets the tone of the overall series and how the world is in the current time. Golden Age is one giant flashback arc, detailing how the current time came to be and also Guts' past, of which not all has been adapted in the anime.

A better ending than the 1997 anime, but a worse adaptation of the Golden Age overall if we're being honest. I'm also not going to put any faith behind a continuation from Studio 4°C since it'll most likely be based off blue ray sales and I don't see a lot of people spending $300 on this adaptation which is content that was first produced in the 2010s. Not expecting any more Berserk adaptations for the foreseeable future, but I can live with the deluxe volumes.

Bruh, the 2016 adaptation is not only bad because of the CGI, it also has horrible sound design and multiple aspects of production are downright insulting to the viewer.

Belive it or not, animation is crucial in anime because it are visuals that keep the audience engaged.
People will tell you, that story > animation, but sad reality is that's bullshit. Especially for action pecked shounen.
That's the reason why Demon Slayer succeeded so hard despite it's simple story and Seven Deadly Sins after studio change failed so horribly, that it fell out of mainstream conscience, despite adapting it's best manga content. Not to mention SAO, that has awful writing, yet still is popular thanks to animation.
Obviously, heving both great visuals AND story would be perfect, but that rarely happens.

In the manga it appeared more like dark fantasy hentai than in this episode, it was short and not hot.
Griffith is a jerk even as demon, it was mean to rape her, although it had more impact in the manga,
when more monsters already did stuff with her before that scene happened.

So that episode also focused on something else fortunately and the arc was very well adapted to the end.
I liked that season of Berserk, it was great to see the beginning of the story.
I have seen 2016 Berserk which unfortunately had a bad art style, but it's good nevertheless.

Berserk anime adaptatins have always been dissapointing. This one added some scenes to the lack luster Golden Age Arc Movie Trilogy and added 2 new key scenes(one was already in the 1997).The last screen perfectly sums up my view on the anime adaptations.

Very dramatic and tragic finale of the Golden Age Arc.

"Aria" by Susumu Hirasawa playing in the background made the whole ending sequence even more epic. Words of gratitude for Kentarou Miura, with Puck's cameo, were really touchy. Beautiful tribute.

Memorial Edition appeared to be better than I thought it'd be. I had a lot of fun watching all episodes, even though I had already watched the original movie trilogy, not to mention being familiar with the source material.

Oh, I think it's the first time I see such comment on this one, particular scene that has originally appeared in the third movie. Most of fans whose posts I've read so far thought that this scene was unnecessarily done as if it came from a hentai show. I agreed with such comments myself. I can't tell if it's only my impression or not (I haven't compared both scenes,so I dunno if anything was modified in the episodic version of Golden Age Arc movie trilogy), but I felt that scene had better direction on Memorial Edition, placing emphasis more on dramatism without unnecessarily prolonging the whole act.

Damn, this arc is just as tragic as I vividly remember it to be. It's been a long while since I binged the '97 version in preparation for the 2016 version but that 2016 version was just too bad for me then to continue. I feel like I want more from the series now though so I'll probably read the arc (elf kids, I believe it's called) that it skipped and give it a shot again. I really hope there'll be a sequel to this though, I ended up enjoying quite a bit despite knowing the gist of what was to come.

God, they really elevated some of the death scenes and the rape one too, I remember the '97 version being disturbing but I'm very confident this was worse. Poor Casca just lost her mind over this and honestly who can blame her? As for Guts, the arm-ripping-off scene and his disbelief over the sight were painful. Thankfully, the Skull Knight made it just in time to save him from that demon's grasp. Definitely curious to know more about him, as well.

Judeus final moments were really touching too, and the moment he knew the sentence was going to be his last, my heart sank a little. Couldn't get the real words across, god darn it. Griffith over to the demon side, and Guts consequently on a mission for vengeance, things are heating up quite a bit.

Loved the Op and some of the background tracks. Also, the CGI didn't turn out to be that bad in the end, I feel like my acceptance of 3DCG in general has gotten a lot better now, lol. Let's hope I can make it through Berserk 2016 & 17 now.

Solid 8/10 from here! Please give us more.

Thanks to Kentarou Miura for giving us the wonderful world of Berserk and I hope he rests in peace.

As a fisrt time watcher of berserk (1997) I find it more detail, also I loved the 90's anime style so that one was better for me.

There is no way that we'll ever see the 'Lost Children' Arc fully animated during our lifetime.
That chapter is fucked on so many different levels. If the "Adult-Attack" gets animated as it was shown in the manga...
...I mean... good luck getting that shit past the japanese censorship.
