| Good final episode of the first part of this show. Well... I have mixed feelings about 86. It had amazing visuals, music, and very good premise. That's for sure. It also had vague plot and one-dimensional take on complex problems, with most of characters acting in quite a weird way. I'm talking about actually relevant characters, not fodder type of characters whose names I didn't remember nor I cared about them due to short screen time they had gotten. As a fan of Erich Maria Remarque's novels, I didn't like how his classic "All Quiet on the Western Front" was used to make such simple story (though trying to be something more serious) slightly more deep than it was. |
| that rock kick transition was so sick... No way, Shin and the others are dead??? you kidding me right??? WTF you can't kill MC like that right? Lena actually went there, ohh the feels when she read the letters... this Anime really playing with our emotions a lot. I regret that i didn't watch this right away, damn imagined getting the hyped week to week. 11 episodes in they successfully telling the Narrative, Characters, the World Building and of course plus the Legendary Music from Hiroyuki Sawano, not many Anime was able to do that. Very Good first cour 8/10 for sure... I hope the second cour can blow my expectations more than this. |

| Solid characters and depiction of war and its toll. The only issue that really stands out is the contrast of how the Republic could be both smart enough to outsource its fighting to another group, yet dumb enough to not actually follow their progress. No good reason was ever given for why the Alba seemed to hate the 86 more than the endless waves of genocidal murderbots. |
| So, apparently they died. Lets hope it's not a fake out and they actually stay dead. Would basically make anything that happend in the last couple of episodes meaningless. My guess would be that at least Shin is not completely dead though. Even if beheaded, it will not just be his voice coming from the Legion, it will be him, or a part of. Maybe i'll eat those words, but they've conveniently avoided showing them actually being dead. They didn't even have blood on them. They looked in better condition than after some of their previous fights. |
| First cour ended in this final episode... let's get to it!!!! Continuing their journey, met and fought some Legion on the way leaving them with only one working Juggernaut(the Shin one) and some container, Even Fido couldn't continued anymore. Shin left him along with box of his "86" past comrade juggernaut remains". Good sense from Shin to hide in the cave along the way as few minutes after Rain as falling hard and group of Legions were passing by. They also found abandoned along they way, drop a moment to rest and gather resource while reminiscing about schooling in the past. They also introduced the school life to Kurena who never went to school before by acting like in a classroom. By the time they reached there, the also almost run out of supplies. Continuing the journey.. Near some narrow path along the cliff suddenly Shin asked Anju who currently piloting the juggernaut to switch place with his excuse that he was getting bored. After getting into juggernaut Shin suddenly cut the wire that tied into the cart. Then he block the way by dropping the rock along the cliff. He actually realized there were tons of Legions ahead and decided to face them alone to be a bait so the rest can move on. After Shin had gone to the battlefield, the rest of squad decided to followed him on foot and only using rifles. In the battle suddenly Shin got hitted by heavy artillery and hearing the voice of the one launched it, yeapp the glimpse of next Sheperd "Pale Rider a.k.a Kiriya Nouzen" we got to see one of the important character that would be introduced later on in his glimpse of memory " Princess Frederica". While the other helplessly fight those Legion on foot and hitted by explosion and got unconscious, Shin got cornered and his life seems to be ended... he said one of his famous quote " When i become a Legion, whose name will i call" and scene transitioned to Lena side. She finallly reach Spearhead Squadron camp along with the newest replacement. Meeting the previous technician there Lev that actually an Alba too who married with a colorata who both of his wife and daughter died in the battlefield. She then walk around the camp reminiscing of everything that her Squad told her in every night chat about the surrounding. She met the black cat that everyone talking about. Finally she found and burst in tear reading the letter write by the last 5 squadron and seeing photos of the whole squad with their name in it. They also asked to take care and give the name for the cat. Then "Avid" beautifully played as Shin last word expressed and Lena decided to Kept forward reaching to the end before transitioned into credits. Nice soothing representation as we could see Shourei as knight walking hand to hand with Shin like the story he told to him in the past. Well, that was pretty long i guess XD, Great works by A-1 and staff in this, Marvelous sound(music & BGM) and audio design as ever thanks to Sawano Hiroyuki & Yamamoto Kohta and OFC infamous sound director Aketagawa Jin. Great OP by Hitorie and ED by Sawano and his harems Mizuki & LACO haha.. and not to forget Toshimasa Ishii as his 1st time ever Directing and already made an outsanding direction, Really loved his Directing in this one. Last but not least the Thanks for the author and illustrator themselves Asato-sensei & Shirabi- sensei really grateful for their works. For me, the Directing was wonderful, the pacing was on the track too i guess. loved forward-backward chronological plot between Shin & Lena parts. Emotion beautifully delivered. Development was on point. Animation either CGI or Hand drawn were fluid and great, Mech Design was great too. At least everyting just perfect for me. TBH after hearing the announcement and intro trailer of the adaptation i decided to binge read the source and really getting to it, already become one of my fav LN. After seeing the Anime, i really glad they doing a wonderful adaptation, i don't have any spesific things to said about it, maybe one of memorable moment that kinda missing was the moment Shin savagely being sarcastic to the officer who mocked Lena and 86 whe she send the fireworks, his words quite lit tho tbh XD. Other than that, i think like other said lack of vol 1 epilogue, but regarding that i dont have any problem since i think it'll be adapted in 2nd cour. Well for me it was masterpiece so 10/10, can't wait to finish the 2nd cour :DDD |

| That after-credit scene with what is suggested to be Shin's beheaded body hits hard but I got some small hope he's not actually death despite the five of them obliterated by the legions. Overall pretty great first cour with all these emotional moments involving the 86. |

| I mean there's a sequel to this already so we pretty much know everything will somehow work relatively ok. Very good shot btw I told my self I will only watch this when I'm on the treadmill to distract myself but I've watched some episodes when I'm eating and doing some other stuff cause it's just that good. 8 |

| I like this series, it has its flaws but overall good mecha anime, dont expect much complexity tho, average action but drama is well done. Pretty good finale for part1. |

| glad that at the end shin's plot armor wore out. now vladilena will never get pegged by shin nomatter how much she wants to. also lol the picture faded so vladilena cant even imagine their faces to jack off. next season vladilena gonna make another bunch of 86 punks to their graves. the end. shin is dead. they run outta food, fuel and even if by some magic vladilena sniffed her way there, shins injuries are fatal and he might as well be dead. shin's final words could be that he pissed in his pants. cant wait 4 legion to destroy entire republic + 86 |

| So there are exactly two Alba worth any respect - Lena and sunglasses base guy. Really wasn't prepared for Lena picking up the photo of Spearhead. That hit like a truck. Bittersweet ending but I'm not giving up hope for a slightly happier final conclusion. Man, this story is just beautiful. |
| the 'all quiet on the western front' book, the drawing with all of their individual handwriting, the cat, the beds, the teru teru bozu, the faded photo... i guess everything reminds you of something. that was emotional... vladilena was more than simply attached to them. amazing end to an amazing anime, with rei turning into shin's childhood hero. i can't believe it's over. except it's not, because hell yeah, i have another season! some of the best duo mc's. |
