If you were to do combat in a mecha, which type or model would you prefer?

Name of mecha: Orbital Frame Jehuty
Original pilot(s): Leo Stenbuck/ Dingo Egret
Specs: (1) Primary Weaponry- Arm Cannon, Sword, Homing Laser, Burst Attack
(2) Sub-weaponry- Grab, Geyser, Gauntlet, Comet, Decoy, Phalanx, Vector Cannon, Halberd, Wisp, Mummy, Homing Missile, Floating Mine, Zero Shift

Rationale for your choice: If you've played the games or seen the anime of the Zone of the Enders franchise, the speed and agility of the orbital frame is superb. I personally like the ability "zero shift" which allows the mech to travel at sub-light speed.

*You don't have to follow the format above, but at least have a reason for choosing your mech, and maybe a brief description of its specs and weaponry :).

dont really know if he counts as a mecha...

but how can you beat Canti sama from FLCL?? I would pilot him in a heartbeat.... though i guess "pilot" wouldn't be the right word...

anyway, he runs errands for you, and eats people and poops them out. he also grows wings and halos at random points and is seen as a god. Can you really beat that? okay so ta-kun DOES become part of canti at some point so i guess he can be piloted... heh... if not you can always use canti to get your weapons (aka guitars)...

oh, and i havent watched FLCL in depth in years so if something i said is off don't penalize me.

My favorite mecha is a Guymelef! Esca-ma-flowne to be precise. All I know specs wise is that you need to put your own blood on the energist to pilot it. Rad.

Technically all mecha are my favorites, but one of my top fav's is the Tallgeese from Gundam Wing.

The YF-19 from Macross Plus. Incredible handling, high speed, fast shifting between modes, has fold capability for long distance travel, and is capable of breaking the atmosphere under its own power.

Plus, it's beautiful;

My favorite mech has got to go to Jagd Doga (Not the Quess Paraya Custom) from the Gundam series. Ever since I saw it, I thought it looked fucking awesome.

My choice would be:

00式戦術歩行戦闘機 武御雷 - Type 00 Tactical Walking Fighter Takemikazuchi from Muv-Luv

The Takemikazuchi is a unit designed for close quarter combat with a heavy focus on melee weapons, like the longsword, but lacks the ability to be equipped by a missile launcher unlike its predecessor. Originally thought to be primarily a weapon for the Imperial Guards it has since then been used in several tactical operations and can be often seen on the frontline where one unit is enough to raise the troops' morale.

Why I like it, obviously because of its high mobility factor and focus on short range battle and of course the obviously Samurai inspired design (Rule Of Cool). It also has that distinct Eva design but upgraded into a much more versatile and stable machine than the Eva ever was.

Damn, I was gonna say Jehuty myself! Well then lets see... The Q-ko chan from... well Q-ko Chan.

It's a manga made by the same people who created Furi Kuri. Q-ko Chan is a robot who can transform from a little girl into a giant mech. Reason she's my favorite? This line.

Definitely Weltall-Id from Xenogears. The first time you fight it in the game is epic, and I love the way it looks/handles. Especially the blue "wings" formed by all the excess energy venting from the back.

I'll throw up a picture if I remember.

That's an oxymoron.

Favorite mecha? Lelouch's Gawain (and hopefully his Arthur is coming), the Hi-Nu Gundam, and Wing Gundam Zero.

The Gawain is kinda evil, but it has the correct destructive power necessary to show that, like someone else said, "its for a commander rather than a grunt". Plus, references to King Arthur always wins you points with me. (Unless, of course, you're referencing Lancelot. :P)

Hi-Nu Gundam: Ultimate NewType machine! It had "fangs" before 00 made them popular. I always liked the design of the n Gundam, but when I saw the "finished" product from the novelization, it became a permanent favorite of mine.

Wing Gundam Zero: The colony destroyer. Of course I like the Zero. (But I hate the Zero Custom.) Just a kick-ass machine with a nice transformed state.
Jumping in Headfirst - I hear reading it causes immortality. Warning. Reading may not actually cause immortality.

Yay for someone else who has played Xenogears! Weltall-ID was definitely an awesome mech along with many others in that game.

Gundam Double-X - Not the strongest Close or Mid range Gundam. But how can i say no to a power strong enough to vaporize a whole island and destroy a whole colony with a single shot. Only drawback, it need to store energy before it can use the main weapon.

Strike Freedom - Best as a Mid and Long range, but with it´s "wings" and maneuverability it´s still quite deadly in close range. And when it releases it´s bits and go all out it´s strong enough to take out battleships on it´s own without much problems.

Akatsuki - Why waste energy to shoot the enemy when you can just let them shoot until they are tired and go in for the kill. Akatsuki is a perfect Gundam for flying into a large enemy formation and wreck havoc among them. Great for Close and Mid range, with it´s bit´s it can manage quite well on Long range too.

A Gundam that is a great defensive walls since it can either nullify or reflect the beams, and with it´s Bit´s working as a shield you have a really strong defense combined with a good offense.

Deathscythe Hell - When it comes to infiltration, surprise attack or just plain Stealth you have 2 choices, either DS Hell or Blitz. Best for Close combat and assassination.

I just finished Code Geass and Full Metal Panic (Fumoffu too, need to watch TSR now). Both don't have a "huge" focus on the Mech's I'd say, but they were pretty awesome when used. Two great series.

I really need to watch more Gundam though, like Gundam X. Hear it's pretty underated and awesome.

I wanted to watch after war gundam x, but it was cut off after episode 39 I believe. I think you should watch the Gundam seed series. The ratings of the series is controversial, but you shouldnt let that discourage you from giving it a chance.

Yeah I hear a lot of mixed feelings about that one, but I think I should give it a shot.

I honestly am not a big Wing fan, I've usually prefered the more realistic Gundam's. But I see Seed compared to Code Geass pretty often, which you know I loved ... so I definitely might give it a shot.
