I'm for gender swapping male characters to girls, just as long as the end result is moe/cute/sexy/etc.
Although in Haruhi Suzumiya's case there's a bigger ration of girls-to-guys to begin with, so it makes it so that the setting is flooded with guys.
It might be great for the fangirls of the series, but for me, having Yuki changed into a guy really ruins the whole concept for me for one thing. She's that cute of a loli ^^
Also, genderbending Mikuru into a guy is wrong in so many levels IMO, not that I'm a fan of hers though.

That aside, Kyonko's great! ¦3
