I started watching anime a year ago, and it felt so good. I could watch a full 24 episode anime in one night, i loved it. Now i struggle to even watch one episode a day, its become so boring and dosent bring out the same emotions out like it did before. I dont know what to do because i love anime, and i would do anything to get the same feeling. Does anybody have any sugestions for what to do? Should i stop watching anime for a time, and start again. Should i force myself, idk i just want to start again

It's just a casual thing to happen when you consume a lot of things in a short time. Your desire to watch more anime will come back again to you... eventually.

I'd say take a break if you're finding all anime boring, especially ones you know you probably would've enjoyed prior to you feeling like that. You're probably on an anime burnout rn and need a break from watching it. Take as long as you need until you think you're ready to start watching again

Don't force yourself to watch it cause then you'll enjoy it less. But if you don't want to take that long of a break, maybe try and find an anime to get you back into it? Whenever I feel like I'm about to experience an anime burnout, finding a really good anime has helped me get back into it and then it's just a never ending process from there

Why does media burnout seem to be such an alien concept for so many anime fans? Just stop watching for a while and come back to it if/when you ever feel the desire to do so. It ain't rocket science.

I browsed your completed, planned and dropped list and I'm seeing a lot of shows with very similar themes. Lots of harem/romcom type stuff. Harem anime almost never provides closure and anime romance usually lacks a satisfactory ending. Too much of that sort of disappointment will burn anyone out.

when this happens to me, I always go to my 3 options:

1- I see some anime that I really enjoy with dub since it makes me more comfortable, and I try not to concentrate on watching it too much, I just enjoy it calmly since I don't need to get into the plot.

2- I read manga, anything, I feel that it is more comfortable because you can go at the pace you want when reading.

3-I try any other media, video games, movies and western series, sometimes it is good to try stories in different ways.

Do you really need to watch so much at once? You shouldn't or shouldn't ever have felt compelled to watch a large amount for some reason and may derive more enjoyment from spreading it out.

You say you started around a year ago? I started over 4 1/2 years ago in 2016 and even at the very beginning and any time since, I never watched 24 episodes of the same show in a day. Even shows I absolutely loved and cherished as my favorite piece of media in existence and have since rewatched and revisited in different forms for years. I still don't think I'd get pleasure from watching 24 episodes straight of anything. It would start to feel rushed and all blend together. The most I ever watched of a single show in a single day was 13 episodes, I believe, and even that was a rarity of only a few times.

So maybe people who watch so much at such a high rate early on rather than enjoying it in a more slow-paced leisurely fashion will burn-out and feel "anime fatigue" sooner.

Same thing here. It feels like watching anime is a must so I thought that I need to watch all the anime on my list.

Take a break. What I do to prevent burnouts or at least make it less frequent is to shuffle between genre. For example if I've watched something very action heavy then the next anime I will watch is probably some light hearted slice of life. It makes every series refreshing and you doesn't get sick of it too often.

It is very common if you watch anime for a long enough time. Try to stop watching anything for a couple of months and do something else. Eventually, you will regain interest in the medium again at which point I suggest watching something you know you will enjoy. Something else that personally helped me out a lot is to stop using social media for anime(if you are doing that), especially twitter.

This happened to me so many times.

Luckily, each time it did, there was always an anime that dragged me back.

Try to watch something different. An anime that doesn't seem like any others you've watched before. Movies are fine, too. They might regain your interest in anime, and might change your taste also.

let me tell you one thing. That initial feeling won't come back ever. U won't be that addicted. What I did was gave myself a mission. The aim was to complete my Plan To Watch list. That aim has made me engaged into anime for past 3 years. Moreover maybe animes like One Piece may help u being engaged into it. One peice has many mysteries unanswered so it will let you stay engaged into it.

No, don't force it.

Either take a break from it, or try to find other genres than what you usually watch. You have choices, it just depends on what you want to do about it.

@epidemia78 brought up that kind of point but from the other side. You're bored/burned out on watching the same types of shows over and over.

Maybe try some SOL, or CGDCT.

You can slow your pace down by trying something currently airing. You can't binge and get burned out on what hasn't been released yet.

You're never too old to watch anime.
If I ever stop watching anime, check my pulse I'm likely dead.

I wake up with coffee & anime, I go to sleep with coffee & anime.

Well, just focus on other things. Talk on forums instead. Watch TV or live-action movies. Read manga or classical literature. Go outside and live your life. And after a while, when it's clear to you that you're bad at life and that it's too hard to get better may you find some renewed enthusiasm.

I've experienced this a few times as well.
Here's what I did to fill the time that was replaced with watching anime:
picked up some new hobbies - reading, walking, playing piano
played some games i enjoyed
reading reviews and deep dives on some of my favorite anime
consuming some other type of anime content - music, reviews, discussions and other things.

after about a month past i was looking forward to looking back into some shows to watch and i enjoyed them probably more than i would have if i just keep watching through the "anime depression"

I diversify what I watch by watching 1 episode of multiple anime a day. Make sure to drop series you do not like though. The will to complete everything will cause anime to become a drag.

I mean, this happens to everyone who watches anime for a certain amount of time. It's just burnout, and it is problematic when you experience it for the first time.
Frankly, you shouldn't make a big deal out of it. If you genuinely love anime from the bottom of your heart, then you should be fine. I would recommend taking a break, maybe a week or two. If you feel that you are ready to watch anime again, then go back to doing it. I don't think it's that big of a deal. Many, many new anime fans typically get into anime because their friends are into it, or maybe it's a fad, or you get into it through peer pressure. The average life span of an ordinary anime fan is about 1 to 2 years. They usually get burnout and never find that drive or special anime that drag them back into the medium; they just keep up with seasonal anime and watch a lot of bullshit just to be a part of the conversation. That's not a good idea. Explore a little and talk to people who have watched an overwhelming amount of anime and ask for recommendations. Or go to the archive and grow your Plan To Watch list. You'll be fine

I've watched a lot of shows you've watched and don't see why you don't enjoy them. A way I break the ice when I develope binge fatigue is to watch a show or read a Manga from the complete opposite genre of the last show your watched. Like for example you could go from watching silent voice to reading 'until your bones rot'

Had the same problem at some point after literally blasting through so fking much Anime in a really short time . Either you take a break , or you can try to binge a long running series (HxH , Naruto , Bleach , yea you get my point) . In my case i binges One Piece and literally had no time to think about being bored .

If anything, please DO NOT WATCH anime to the point of burnout.

Take ample breaks and do what you like doing IRL, unless you have friends that you do catch up anime with then that's an issue on its own.
