Dear god this was the best 2 minutes I've ever spent. The lyrics to the song just had me laughing non stop only thing that sucks is that it ends.

2 good 2 be real.
Amazing special, I'm sooo in need of more Poputepipikku seasons.

That Aoi Shouta though... X)))

Also, who were the seiyuus?

There are 4 versions for eps.13 and 14 (actually there are two eps.), and loads of seiyuus featured: Namely Jun Fukuyama, Two Onos, etc.

The twist with Shouta Aoi at the end of the male version of the second episode couldn't had been any more perfect. Best part of the whole episode along with Cthulhu (and Yukarin's deep voice during the Rambo parody).

From the episode I watched:

1st episode female version: Yukari Tamura (Popuko) and Yui Horie (Pipimi)

1st episode male version: Soichiro Hoshi (Popuko) and Akira Ishida (Pipimi)

2nd episode female version: Mariko Kouda (Popuko) and Kikuko Inoue (Pipimi)

2nd episode female version: Nobuo Tobita (Popuko) and Bin Shimada (Pipimi)

They used quite a lot of the "17 forever club" ladies this episode lmao.

honestly, pop team epic has probably the most absurd production value i've even seen. to cram this many different styles into 1 episode. purely amazing

on the other note, the comedy was mostly miss. couldn't even squeeze a giggle out of me, sadly

What IS the special? On Kissanime it's just a song, but it looks like on VRV it's actual episodes (I don't have premium tho so I can't watch)

The special IS Poputepipikku.
As mentioned above it's 2-episodes. On Crunchyroll there are 4 versions of a 46-minutes combined 2-episode special.

This has even more forms of animation than the previous episodes and rewards even more than before watching the 'repeated' sections. It fully grasps the current era of anime and the internet, and aims to be nothing more than a purely insane spectacle of audiovisual information.

Insanity at its finest has returned, and it's more grandiose than ever! We've had pretty much every artist of the main series return, and then added a few new ones, too boot. The puppet show returns with a new song, and the production values are as high as they ever were.

I figured we'd get trolled with the Hosiro Girldrop OP again, but I wasn't ready for the second time.

This special showed me again how much I love this show and wish there were more.

This show being self aware is by far its best aspect lmao

Well, nothing special to add... it was just as absurd as the main series. Definitely not my type of humor. 4/10

P.S.: Aoi Shouta still gives me the creeps, being honest.

I love that Tanaka Atsuko-Tamagawa Sakiko duo (dropping their GITS references every chances they got) and especially Koyasu (basically doing Sugita but better) get it. That's how PTE works.

The niconico one is still the best of the four though. More iconic pairing and Hanakana.

Was that any specific mech show's credits they parodied? Or just the genre in general?

It kinda had a Macross vibe, to me- But I couldn't put my finger pn any specific season/version of it (or, I could be off, completely- Just a vague impression I got)
