man that was pretty wack ngl. love this series and i really enjoyed every episode but this one was kind of a disappointment. it went pretty downhill since they dragged reki's drama for how many episodes but this is probably the most disappointing ep. the ending was pretty nice, renga still skates tgt, joe and cherry is just their usual selves, miya suddenly makes a friend bc its the last ep and everyone needs to be happy except for shadow lmao bc he's not attractive so we dont care abt him. adam's politic shit also got cleared up real quick huh. and they're all buddy buddy at the end. i get that its not supposed to be taken too seriously and we just wanna have a peaceful ending where everyone are friends but it makes all the drama thats been given so pathetic.

Nice last episode 8/10. Overall the anime was interesting most of the time. Nice chars. Especially the side chars. Reki seemed a bit boring and the stuff with Adam at the end ... happened to fast. I would have preferred to see a bit more interaction/dialogue with him and Tadashi and Joe/Cherry.

So ... while the last episode was "good" in terms of ending stuff without fail (Japanese often fail at the end) ... it still felt a bit fast and was not really great. Could not improve the score for me. But also did not drag it down. (Most other shows that seem 8 for a long time ... I have to score down to 7 because of the end.)

Also a solide 8. (Not 8.4 rounded down or so. It was not thaaaat good.)

That was some dramatic start XD

Adam's new outfit is giving off undertaker vibes.

That ost they played during their beef was amazing.

And as usual Langa's skating made be go 'Ω' but the half of it looked like they were boxing instead of skating.

I doubt if all of this has brought any changes in Adam, looks like he'll still beat his opponent with his board.

“if you don't win...you won't be acknowledged! You won't be loved!”
Adam do you realize that it's because of your shitty personality that everyone avoids you -_-

If you show this to someone who doesn't know him, they'll definitely get fooled XD

I don't know what to say XD

Tadashi's looking adorable here but he's such a masochist XD

Anyway, this was the best sports anime of Winter 2021 with the most satisfying ending. I know there's no need for a season 2 but I wouldn't mind seeing them skating and joking around a whole another season.

Overall 8/10

Thanks Bones for making it, you guys really nailed the skating culture, sometimes unrealistic but shounen-y skating sequences were just rad, the music was on point, the cast was likeable and I had a blast.

A really great series, a solid 8/10 and I will easily recommend it to anyone who will ask for a skateboarding anime.

I want a S2... please Bones do it.

This and horimiya were my two Saturday anime for the season, and overall this one was just way more solid. And yeah this was also my last anime episode for the winter 2021 season, guess you could call it a wrap, and a good one at that.

Plain and simple fun, with a flashy exterior, this is what this anime is. Not that deep, but do you need it to be when you’re having this much fun? Although it ended too quickly imo, probably would’ve benefited from one more episode. So we got the typical power of friendship, finding happiness/learning to have fun themes in this shounen sports type anime.

From the first couple episodes, I’d have easily given this a 7 or an 8. But while it didn’t decline in quality, I was just getting the feeling it was running out of gas. Maybe reki being butthurt for a couple episodes didn’t do too many wonders. But really that’s nitpicking. Ultimately, it’s real solid, and a lot of fun. It’s just missing something that prevents me from really liking it. Maybe I just didn’t want it to be so shallow. But that’s just me, and that’s just a nitpick. I had a lot of fun with this show, but I really can’t give it any more praise than that. 6.5/10, will need to think about it some more before deciding on a 6 or 7.

In the name of skating they just do whatever the heck they want, I know anime is supposed to be unrealistic but this is sports, slice of life anime be a little bit realistic, Adam didn't deserve that redemption he did so many illegal things, he injured so many people, beat them up almost even try to kill them all just over skating, is this okay? Is this allowed? I'm supposed to accept this shit and Langa where do I even start with this character? He learned skateboarding just few months ago and he defeated everyone who had years of more experience than him, I know he is talented but come on you can't defeat pros just like that and it's been justified by saying that he is experienced in snowboarding, Um there is difference between snowboarding and skating it makes no sense, Overall this anime was so damn predictable and boring, Oh there is BL fan service in this but unfortunately that's not going to make me like it because I absolutely don't care about that, The only good thing about this anime is animation and Op.

I didn't get exactly what i wanted from the finale, but it was a fine ending to the season.

I wish there was more focus on just skating casually with friends and less on the big S races -- they started to feel repetitive, even the race in the last episode on a new track still felt just 'same old same old'.

I would've liked to have focused on just the characters interacting more, instead of having them all stand on the sidelines watching races. But whatever.

I had a good time. Hello, did you hear me? I had a GOOD TIME. I can't express this enough. i just had such a damn good time. Just leave me on the floor here for a while. I need to think about everything. Like dang.

So it's kinda like, you go to an anime convention and overall you have a really good-- REALLY GOOD time, right? Like it's been a while since you had such a good time at a con and you've even already purchased your ticket for next year. However, the con still has some faults.

In this case, I'd say the whole scandal with Ainosuke was a bit rushed or glossed over to a point I just can't ignore. It didn't feel fulfilling or worth it. I like what the conclusion of it was, just perhaps not how we reached that point. I would have liked to see maybe something with Ainosuke confronting his aunts or maybe dealing with their backlash? It seems like they've had him under his thumb for so long that it just seems that a lot of the problem wasn't just his personality but their say on the matter as well. So seeing them kinda just dropped out of the picture without a say makes it seem like they weren't a part of the problem or that the problem wasn't as complicated as it really was... when it was-- or at least that's how they originally presented it. And then this poor red-head lady... I feel like she got brushed aside so easily. Like she's in the opening and everything and I was ready to see her do some DAMAGE, right? And we get some build up for that only to have it suddenly just... poof. Like, why waste our time? Why not go about all of this in an entirely different way? There are a lot of other routes they could have gone, but they just... didn't. Don't get me wrong, it's great to know that the conclusion doesn't leave Ainosuke with absolutely no consequences, but it just feels like it wasn't even all that serious to begin with.

Now lemme get to this shipping shit. I'm kinda like "hm" since Langa said "fantasy of a final race" when I thought he already said he wanted to skate infinitely together with Reki. Why are y'all imagining final anything if y'all gonna skate infinitely with each other? Is this a break up then? Dang. What up? It's like "I'm gonna love you forever, but let's play out our fantasy of the last day I get to love you--" oh wait, that kinda sounds romantic. Never mind. I'm down. Had to watch that ending again, but the way they expressed what Langa's happiness was...

Langa: My happiness is...
Reki: -slowly strips off his hood as 90's porn music playing in background starts getting heavy on that bass-
Me: Ah. I see.
BG Music: -starts going ham on those 90's porn music horns-

Also, lol when ADAM crashes the party and Reki just holds onto Langa as everyone else bolts. Holy moly. They're not subtle. Can't let weird adults swoop up ya boy. But also Reki's hoodie kept changing from green to purple in that scene. Like dang, that pressed for time, eh?

I'm really happy that Miya and his old friend might make up... though I guess there wasn't much of a build up to that change of heart. I appreciate seeing Miya's happy face though. Actually, I sometimes kinda feel like Miya wasn't given enough attention. We like didn't even really get an apology from Reki for how he treated Miya that one time-- and that was kinda low so...;;
And then I guess Ainosuke and Tadashi are just going to be like... in this power dynamic play relationship forever I guess. Like jesus y'all. Y'all do you I guess.

A little disappointed that we didn't get much more from Joe or Cherry at the end, but what can ya do?

RIP Shadow though. RIP in pieces.

Despite some of the production issues, and the fact some of the suporting cast didnt get their problems sorted out, this was fucking great. Adam was an amazing villain and his match with langa was extremely hype. The music was on point, ryo takahashi needs to be famous one day, he deserves it. The message was really just about skating being fun, and for sure seemed like that, because watching this was fun as hell.

Great finale, probably the best episode of the show.

The race was fun and over the top as expected, but the best part for me personally was the part where they jumped over something and they cut to a flashback for Ainosuke showing him and Tadashi doing something similar as he realizes he was having fun. Beautiful scene.

Conclusion was nice too.

I liked this show quite a bit, it was over the top and crazy but the skating was fun to watch. The drama was okay, I felt the show was better when it was focusing on comedy and action but the drama was necessary in the context of the show I guess and it made the resolutions more satisfying.

I'm going to be honest here: I loved the show at first, but it got really bad toward the end. I love the concept and the characters are all interesting--it reminded me of a skateboarding version of Air Gear for a while. However, the crazy genius-level skill of Langa and the ridiculously over-the-top ADAM got on my nerves real fast. The final race was interesting until ADAM started using magic shounen powers like skating sideways for prolonged periods, spin-jumping stalactites down into Langa, and jumping off his skateboard to use it as a bludgeon then jumping back on it only to immediately return to the same speed he was previously going.

Personally, I found ADAM to be a terrible antagonist and feel that I would have enjoyed the show a lot more if the finale was a race between Reki and Langa. Not only would it have been a great segue into the ending, but the emotion and build-up would have been far superior. It also would do away with the ridiculous superpowers ADAM had to ignore physics and inertia while skateboarding.

Overall, this had a good premise and a strong start, only to become a silly mess that I couldn't take seriously by the end. The final insert song was awesome, but it can't save the show after it collapsed on itself halfway through. Solid 5/10 (was an easy 7.5-8/10 early on).

So... the Grand Finale huh? Tbh I'm not sure if it lived up to my expectations but nevertheless, it was fortunately good enough to still be my favorite anime. The skating was as surrealistic as ever but the enjoyment was still there and I live for Reki's and Langa's friendship, also I still hate ADAM and can't understand why is his "dog" so loyal to him ugh he deserves better

Well, that was fun. A bit messy - a lot of the side characters' subplots went nowhere, and I still don't get what purpose the policewoman subplot served - but thoroughly entertaining for its absurdity and almost complete disregard for physics.

Normally, shows like this would never end up on my radar, but I ended up watching this by sheer chance and it was definitely a fun show from start to finish. Reki's arc could've been a bit less wishy-washy, though.

The writing quality kind of dropped as the show went on so it was good to see it end with a strong final episode. Although no joke I wish the ending was gayer lol no kiss is disappointing albeit expected given Japan's attitude towards that sort of thing.

I'm not gonna spend much time on this other than to say that this was an incredibly unsatisfying ending to a series that had such a good build-up in terms of its characters and the budding friendships/relationships. A lot was dropped/forgotten/rushed/glossed over in the last episode and it dragged down my score for the series as a whole. Hiroko "Queerbait" Utsumi at it again. I'm just tired.

i had fun watching this it was very by the books and we dont get a lot of skate boarding like at all, granted kinda hard to call it skating by the end with how Adam went full brawling mode on top of that he ended up getting off free.

my real salt isn't only that our boys didn't kiss but that Shadow stayed taking the biggest L when i really thought he had a chance that's messed up he somehow got the worse end compared to the actual villain

here me out sequel but everyone is learning how to snowboard now 7/10!

also random note there was one episode i felt like a girl with glasses had showed up for one scene and never showed up after that i dont know why

THOSE F*CKERS! SHADOW received a blow in the head for protecting his crush and they didn't let him have the girl in the end? Dude, come on... that's so mean :'(

Such an unsatisfying ending, honestly. In the end, the whole "political corruption" side-plot was completely pointless and ADAM having a change of heart/redemption moment via "sKAtInG iS fuN" message couldn't have been more cheesy. I know writing isn't this show's forte but this resolution still felt incredibly lazy.

Overall, still a decent show but definitely more enjoyable during its first half. Before the whole "Reki's depressed" drama and definitely before ADAM unlocked his ultimate toxic lover state.

6/10 - Not gonna lie tho. Langa throwing himself into Reki's arms a la Yuuri x Victor sure made my heart skip a beat or two.

I'm not sure what to think of this episode. Admittedly, it was fun to watch. The visuals and scenes were great, the interactions were nice, the MUSIC was awesome - not only the insert song but the entire soundtrack (then again, I do have a soft spot for violin and piano).

So, then, what's wrong? Well...
I feel iffy about ADAM's whole "redemption". The fact that it came after him legit assaulting his opponents, which he never faces any consequence for. The fact that it was triggered by Langa, whom he didn't really have much of a relationship, or indeed any connection with (save his own one-sided obsession). The fact that it came and went in a few minutes. The fact that after all that, he gets to crash the victory party, because of course he does, quite literally - and then after that, he even gets away scot-free with whatever charges were looming above his head, and gets away with them by resuming his own shady questionable ways like nothing's happened. It's iffy at best, and I'm not sure it sends the best message.
I'm also altogether fatigued by the baiting. Sitting next to each other in the car, behind everyone else, perfectly hidden - no holding hands because that'd be too gay, not even an encouraging squeeze, no arm around the neck as they reminisce about Langa's rocky start, not a single touch, nothing. "After the finals are over" - and it fades to inaudible, because of course it has to. Sure, that finish line hug was cute/funny, but more of a crash-landing than anything else. And after everything, technically, we don't even get to see them ride off into the sunset because the camera moves away - hell, they didn't even get to say "GO!"... Gimme a break. As cute as they are together and as nice as it would be - it does not happen. It never happens.
If anything, the anime just hammers it home even more that the takeaway here is "skating is fun". They did it with Miya, they did it with ADAM, they did it with SHADOW, they did it with Cherry and Joe, they did it with Reki and they did it with Langa. That's all there is to it, and for that, it really didn't need all the shipbait scenes... but of course not having those would've alienated all the fujos/fudans and narrowed the potential audience to a smaller size. Yeah, I'm tired of the blueballing, sorry not sorry.

I gotta say, the biggest surprise that I absolutely loved....

Who by the way is the vocalist of the band fade (on indefinite hiatus since 2014 though), and was also the co-vocal with GACKT in YELLOW FRIED CHICKENz that existed in 2011-2012. Never expected to see his name here, or indeed in any other anime credits, but holy smokes I'm happy I did.

but there's BIG BIG ISSUE with Adam..
he started using skateboard to bash ppl in the face during competition.. -_- he also swung Reki around and smashed his head against the wall.. and in the end they still having happy go lucky relationship just bcos "skateboard is FUN".

he also called his childhood friend a dog at the final episode and his childhood friend actually blushed.. errrmm

Well that went the way I thought it was going to. This one kind of went off the rails, the tricks defied gravity and was hardly even skating anymore.

In the end all's well that ends well, but I think it was cheap that Adam basically got off the hook for his crimes. The show was building up this plot point throughout the season, and then it straight up drops it. Very lame. I think him losing to Langa, who taught him the fun of skating again, along with going to Jail for his crimes would've been a good start to his overall redemption. But nope, just back to creepy yaoi vibes making his cousin/brother whatever his little man slave.

Also, did we ever really figure out what Adam's plan was? Was he just trying to find someone who was equally at good at skating with or was he trying to make some kind of skating utopia? It was so vague that I don't even know.

Sk8 started off really strong. I think the comradery of Reki and Langa skating around and Langa learning how to skate was a blast. That's where the show was at its best. The melodrama and the creepy Adam garbage was where it was weakest.

Reki and Langa were the heart and soul of this show, but I just didn't like how Langa was written. The guy was basically perfect and never really suffered any kind of defeat, the only real hardship he went through was waiting for Reki to stop sulking. I can understand the idea of a snowboarder bringing new moves to skating, but there's just no way that it translates that well to skating. Langa got too good too quickly, making him a much less compelling character.

I am glad however, that Reki was not reduced to some support role. He took on Adam and almost won. I understand that the overall lesson here is that skating is for fun, not for competition or winning. But Reki was treated like dogshit way too often, especially with Langa winning every race and basically being a skateboarding god.

I think it's a shame that this deteriorated so much. I think it had a lot of potential in telling a story of brotherhood, but its painful yaoi vibes ruined that. I think with some story and character restructuring, this would have been a classic in the making.

But in the end, Sk8 failed to land its trick and ended up faceplanting instead.

Honestly, I think the show started really good, but everything after the beach episode went downhill. I felt like the fight issue between Langa and Reki got solved in a stupid way. In episode 9, i think, Langa CLEARLY said he likes Reki, what about it? The topic never came back again. I felt like in the episode 12 they tried to solve everything in a rush, like the red lady just being ordered to stop. And what annoys me the most was the marvelous yuri on ice copy paste. As a renga shipper I'm extremely disappointed.

One of the worst anime that I watched since FMA.
The beginning was descent but after that it turned into just another sports anime with fujoshi bait/fap material and queer baiting being the main focus while story and characters become an afterthought.

Agreed. Wish her subplot actually went somewhere instead of being resolved so quickly.

I fully knew what I was getting into when I started watching this and I'm underwhelmed. I was hoping for a hilariously outrageous over-the-top skating anime and that's what we got but it's also a little too conventional and melodramatic for me. I fully enjoyed it in the beginning but the "Reki becomes sad" arc and "Adam's actually a sadboi" arc just didn't resonate with me. 6/10.

Exactly this, but I only give it a 5/10

Also, the animation quality dropped a lot for this episode. I know the animator have it hard with the pandemic, nonetheless the plot just got bad for it to rely only on animation.

Also, hate how inconsequential all of Adam's actions were, as skater, as a politician and as a person. Just remember than because of him many people got really injured.

Figured that this wouldn't have a memorable ending, even Prince of Stride had more to offer tbh.

But hey, at least it was fun.

5,5/10

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron
