While this anime started off strong, it fizzled out near the end. Really strong cast of characters, underwhelming to see most of them just forgotten due to the lack of episodes. (Sawada and Iura especially) I did enjoy it, but the final score is a 7/10 for me, and I will continue reading the manga. If the manga looks into all of the un-developed characters, it could be amazing.

I think this show is worth a 5/10, but it's score is helped by how pretty it is, both visual and sound wise. I'll give it a 7/10 for my enjoyment, which is a good score I think.

Not too bad of a watch, maybe my expectations were too high. Won't be reading the source material.

I like the last episode, I'm a sucker for graduation episodes if done right.

I didn't enjoy the rest of the show, though. I really didn't feel like there was any chemistry between the two main characters.

Thanks, person who gave me this on another site a long time ago, lol.

Looooooooooool Iura

The waterworks started during the “what if” scenes. It’s a blessing to be able to know the people you know, to enter someone’s life, to have an impact, no matter how small, on someone’s life — how sad would it be if all that didn’t happen. That scene was adapted well. That evoked a lot of emotions.........(;´༎ຶٹ༎ຶ`)

Miyamura accepting his past self within & moving on. Sakura leaving her feelings behind & being so gracious about it. Tooru being my best boy. Yuki admiring Sakura. Yanagin being his precious self.

Also L O L @ Kyosuke taking pictures with Miyamura!!!!

Miyamura’s monologue at the end while running alongside Hori was so touching.

If only I could gift you this beautiful sky

They had to skip chapters considering the amount of episodes they had & to give this adaptation a faithful conclusion. I also don’t understand people bitching about the “random focus on side characters” it’s like that in the source material too. It’s a decent & pretty faithful adaptation, definitely struggled with its tone & direction but as a manga reader, I think the direction & tone of its more dramatic scenes were done perfectly. And more content is always welcomed & I’m also glad they wrapped it up with this one season & didn’t drag it out any longer than it needed to be. Still prefer the manga tho, but the voice cast couldn’t have been more perfect to bring these characters to life. Will miss this bunch.

And ooooomg the credits stills!! They also showed the jacket still from the school festival that wasn’t adapted uwu

but i’ll probably remember over and over again
you were there and everyone else was there

I never imagined that they would end up adapting the final chapter. I did think about it once but to have a chapter animated after like 15 days of release, damn.

One of the strongest episode of the series, and a pretty damn good high note to end.

Too bad half the series was a bit rocky in quality and pacing...

What a way to throw your fanbase under the bus and realease the anime just to promote your manga ending soon. YIKES

If Promised Neverland Season 2 got hate for skipping 1 arc then Horimiya should get hate for skipping half the manga

I dont even read the manga but idk it feels like they wrapped it to the ending too quickly. Tho this is a nice romance anime with a nice ending as well. I still would recommend it to everyone who likes the genre. This reminds me of Yamada and 7 witches, clearly rushed but still a very entertaining anime. This made me want to get a girlfriend lol

I was really looking forward to the anime only just to get disappointed, huh. They just skimmed through the entire manga. I'll go through the negatives first. The main problem was that the pacing was all over the place. They weren't able to properly balance the stuff they were trying to portray. Because of the that the transition from one scene to another just feels off. For example, we were just having some serious moment and a second later they shove some over-the-top comedy in our face. It makes the scene prior less impactful. And the lack off screen time of the side characters and the couples and the lack of their interaction with the main characters made their friendship with one another kind of hollow. I know a lot of people complain about the filler chapters of the latter part of the manga but they did a great job developing the other couples and the characters and their relationships and how they became closer and bonded over time. And those were really really fun to read. And since the anime rushed and skipped most of the manga, the side characters just feel like just some characters.

I know I complained a lot but don't get me wrong. There were highs too. The anime nailed some moments that mattered, the stuff with Miyamura for instance or the moments with Hori. And the anime was consistent throughout. The animation was great. The designs were pretty. The background arts were beautiful. OSTs were great too. The opening is my favorite OP of the season. Ishihama's storyboard for the OP was fantastic. I just love the OP and the changes he did later on, it was so pretty. And I still quite enjoyed the series to the end. BUT it still could have been MUCH MUCH better. But alas, this is all we will get.

Like I said before, I still enjoyed the anime. Don't know if it's because the anime visually looks good or maybe it's because of my love for the manga, nonetheless it was still a fun watch.

Eh, didn't really like this in the end. It's really a shame that the main couple got together in the first few episodes, only to make it seem like they're only just close friends the following episodes. It doesn't really seem like a romantic relationship to me, could even say it seems quite toxic. Honestly I liked the other characters more than Hori and Miyamura, but even then only a few got enough screen time.

Yes the animation is great and all, but I came for a romance anime, not a (boring) SOL with superb animation. If I wanted to watch a SOL I'd do that, but I dislike how series try to sell you the romance then fails in the latter half of the series.

Felt like an anime original ending since we went straight to graduation but really I know they just skipped a million more chapters to jump right the end. I mean it works pretty well as the ending. Show was pretty cute a lot of the time but I have very little investment in any of the characters given how insanely rushed it was and how we had so many characters/side plots going on like it was Tsurezure Children (but it actually works very well in Tsurezure). Anyways for the most part a pretty cute romcom with not a lot going on.

Guys, don't lie. If Horimiya had 2 cours into all the manga, you would find it boring since nothing happens in the manga. It's fine with a single cour full adaptation, no problem at all.

This right here! People complained about the manga being boring with nothing happening after the proposal since it was all just SOL moments, which I did enjoy. But I think with what they did with the anime was the correct thing to do in just adapting the important parts

Banger adaptation of the finale. Episode poll looking real funny like it did with WEP.

Unfortunate pacing issues existed and a lot of stuff was skipped but the direction and everything else for the material it did adapt was perfectly done.

The 'what if?' scenario was captured so damn well.

Serves as a pretty great highlights package for the manga and it was fun to see my favorite moments animated.

I love the manga so much so the anime just made me happy. It might have been a pretty mediocre romance anime for most, but it made my Saturday's better. I do wish we would have more, especially to have the sports festival arc animated, but this definitely felt enough for a great adaptation.

While technically literally half the manga was skipped; I still think this is a better version than the manga. The original just had so much fluff that it kept dragging on and on with zero development that the reader had been used to in the first part. Only thing that would've made it better is adding some changes/additions in the anime rather than just cutting content and not adding anything better.

8/10 mostly for the fact that I really loved the first ~40 ch/6 eps. Second half the manga was more like a 4/10 for me but the show avoids that by just skipping it.

Was originally thinking the show would just rearrange some chapters and end at the proposal but it makes more sense just to finish it through given that the chances of a S2 would be very slim since the manga is finished now.

for skipping half of the manga, it was still good. the stuff cut out weren't relevant at all to the main couple and were just a bunch of other random couples so it wasn't much of a problem for me.. unlike tpn

Reflections on previous selves and different possible paths taken in life while graduating as we end the series. Even though I thought this actually got a bit blander as it went along I'd still say it was a strong series for its genre. I vaguely recall reading some of the source material several years back now, but I pretty much went into this blind. And it was at times very sweet, and very emotionally effective. Solid 8/10. Probably in the Top 5 of the Winter anime season, which for me now has but one more show to finish. Excluding the ones continuing on into Spring of course.

it was so shocking seeing it skip straight to the end of the manga chapters, theres so much inbetween where we left off and the final episode. small stuff, but thats what sol and romance anime are about, the small things that get you to enjoy the characters, especially in a show like horimiya where all characters, no matter how minor, have their own stories and lives

I honestly enjoyed this series. It had a lot of nice and sweet moments. Really loved the cast of characters and their chemistry.

As for the ending, I enjoyed it. I loved Miyamura's development and it's sad to think what would have happened if that one day Miya didn't bring Sota home. Pretty sad seeing it end.

The manga is a must read for me, unfortunately this show was really rushed and the pacing was horrible.

Overall this show is a 8/10 for me.

Felt like the show had too many characters to have it be 13 eps only. It felt like some things were just introduced for one episode and then gets dropped. Probably will have to read the manga if I want to know more I guess. Overall it was okay, had a good start but it felt like it was getting boring since it didn't feel like it really explored some of the things later on. The final minutes were pretty good though, probably won't get a second season though.

So it actually ended at graduation, so there goes the hope of a S2. Either way this was pretty good show overall. The massive jumps in time was a little bit of an annoyance. Felt like I was missing a lot of character interactions and how their relationships progressed.

Art was really solid and pleasant to look at throughout the whole show. Comedy was really great and it managed to catch me off-guard a few times as well. OP is the best of the season in my opinion. 8/10

If we're being honest, most manga fans were not a big fan of the parts they skipped. Horimiya's peak was the first 40 chapters. After that it was all SoL filler. I for 1 am glad they went with this route for the anime, since I would not want to watch 2 more seasons of uninspired SoL. The manga purist can cry all they want, go read the manga then lmao.

This was absolutely wonderful from start to finish.

Every character was a real person with their own set of flaws and they interacted differently with each other just like real people would.

Really can't find any faults with this, it was funny when it had to be, it was serious when it had to be, it was heartwarming when it had to be.

I don't hate Horimiya, but even without knowing how the manga is, i know it's a rushed adaptation. At least it's funny to see how the characters interact and the funny moments, but between chapter 7 and 11 the anime threw me a rock directly to my left eye, just to threw another one to my right eye with this last 2 episodes. I really wanted this episode to say "seeya next season". 4/10

The fake is of far greater value. In its deliberate attempt to be real, it's more real than the real thing.

So that was it.
Watched this whole thing expecting a s2, but this is fine too.
The whole thing just felt incomplete, like a string of moments that combined together added up to nothing. That works with some shows, but when you're trying to develop a relationship and many side characters I don't think it works to well. Maybe its attributed to the fast pacing, maybe its the source material, I don't know or really care. I enjoyed most of this, with yuki and kyousuke being the highlights for me. 5/10, not bad.

I really loved the whole relationship between the two and how even though they look like two different type of people they bonded and shared a common connection. I loved the show and I really want a season two to figure out what their lives will be like after high school. I didn't mind the ending, it was kind of bland to me compared to all the episodes. I do look forward to see how the friends and relationships in their group will progress if they do have a second season.

Ngl kinda mad that they skipped right to the end of the manga, since I buy english volumes they spoiled the ending for me haha, but they also skipped so much stuff there will still be enough new material in the last volume for me I bet... but the episode itself was really good imo, I just wish that the anime would have focused more on the slice of life aspect of the manga and ended the anime with ep 12 ending

Heartwarming ending. Loved how Miyamura looked back on everything as a snowballing coincidence. He also grew a ton. Loved how Hori's father called Miyamura his son. Loved how Akane and Yuki & Tooru and Kono sorted out the awkwardness they had between them. Gonna miss this show tbh.

Great animation and visuals, good voice acting.

In general, the anime felt a little bit rushed, and I wish there was more focus on Hori and Miyamura's relationship, but the final episode sorted out what I wanted.
