After starting with Blood Orphans last year and watching 00 and Seed, i've now started watching the original Gundam and finished Origins.

Personally i loved Orphans the most, Origins was amazing too, wish they would remaster the original mobile suit gundam series.

The Reason why i thought Orphans was amazing was the characters and their interactions, the friendship between Orga and mikazuki was amazing, and the series throughoutly kept me on my toes, loved the ending as well, on top of that the animation was great. They did so damn well that i wish they would do more new Standalone Gundam Shows :S

Take a shot every time Fraw Bow says Amurooo xD

Whats your favourite one? Why?

Gundham Tanaka is my favorite gundam!
you're cool

ZZ is much much better than Zeta, don’t let meme opinions tell u otherwise.

Zeta is just dumb repetitive character drama

Gundam ZZ is actually really good. The first 20 episodes are very comedy-like, which tend to drive people away, but after the 20th episode, it gets serious. ZZ has a far better ending than Zeta as well.

ZZ and Victory were extremely tedious for me to watch I could not get into them like other Gundams. I did complete them though.

Technically. I gave it a 6 overall and managed to finish it, yes. It was very forgettable though since I don't remember much of anything that happened in it.

id love to know who came up with the name "Fraw Bow"
it sounds so ridiculous
at the start of the show she was so annoying, id argue most of her Skript and Dialogue consists of the word "Amuro" she seems to mention at least 10 times before she starts an actual sentence xD

So far from what I have watched War in the Pocket is my favorite just due to that ending. Overall Origins is really good in showing how the UC time period got set up and I just love seeing Char being awesome.

The only Gundam I liked so far is Thunderbolt, which delivered outstanding animation and some nice drama in its short duration, the other relatively few I tried out never really got me and felt too slow at times, but I'm not much of a fan of this genre anyways.

What the.. a Gundam thread? On MAL? I must be dreaming.

Anyways, call me retarded, but Seed might be my favorite though mainly because it was such a big part of my childhood. I didn't even know how to read subs yet when I watched it.

I still liked it a lot when I watched the remastered version years later with subs, and for the longest time all I played was Gundam Seed Portable on my PSP. I still go back to it once in awhile for nostalgia purposes.

uff, well so far i've liked all the gundams i've seen so i can relate, hard to say why but seed also made me happy watching it, i probably just enjoy seeing friends go against each other like kira and athrun, great character btw, i loved him.

there's just something about stories where friends fight each other, like lelouch and suzaku, or naruto and sasuke

im just a sucker for that stuff :D

Gundam 00 is my favorite Gundam series (surprise!). It had the most interesting characters and was the only Gundam where I liked the whole main cast. The whole thing gave me chills for some parts, it was really good and intense.

Also, (H)Allelujah's story is still one of my favorites to this day. But I am also a sucker for characters with a split personality.

I like Unicorn for it's consistent superb animation and pokes a lot more depthness into char's story and UC timeline.

Gundam 00 for it's idea and philosophy, and some of it's cast.

Gundamn iron blooded orphans for it's certain drama and usage of reality of war.

Gundam wing for it's gundams.

IBO is definitely my favorite Gundam TV Series, and it isn't even that close. It just was very close to being perfect for me, with and ending that really fit the show and drove home the themes it established during its runtime. Just a very complete and well-rounded show with good action, great characters, great emotional impact, interesting politics and just overall everything I'd want from a Gundam, and more.

But I also really, really loved Unicorn and War in the Pocket. The former for just being such a great and rewarding culmination of 30 years of UC Gundam. Everything came together so nicely and the whole show was just well writting and packed with interesting characters. It doesn't get much better in terms of (more or less) concluding the long UC history. And WitP is just the quintessential (anti) war story of the anime medium for me. Short, to the point, very impactful emotionally, with a variety of themes it deals with. And I really like the girl too :>.

I gave all 3 of those 10/10 and I don't hand those out lightly. Just the fact that 3 Gundams managed to get this score from me amazes me to this day.

I haven't scratched the surface of this franchise but from what I've seen I've got to go with Orphans too. Idk how much Mari Okada wrote this thing but I can see her influences throughout the show.

From what I heard we have her to thank for pushing through the ending in the form we got to see, instead of getting a forced happy ending for everyone out of nowhere. So to me she's probably the most important reason why I love IBO.
What do you think about IBO first season compared to its second season? In my opinion 2nd season is great with frequent well written script, but 1st season is terrible beyond first 8 episodes

I was pretty much hooked early on and had it at 9/10 for most of it's runtime until the ending of season 2 pushed it to a 10 for me.
I probably regret this post by now.

Zeta Gundam, the sacrifice Kamille goes through, the relationships, and the character drama really drives the war story home in a way many other ones don't. Iron-Blooded Orphans takes second place. Then Unicorn and 0083 Stardust Memory are the next best. Then 08th MS Team and Thunderbolt are tied here.

What anime you like has nothing to do with your intelligence. Seed was decent aside from a few annoying characters and its abysmal visuals (everyone except Rau le Creuset looks ugly).

You weren't supposed to take that seriously lol.

I don't care how badly people trash Seed for what it is unless it's Seed Destiny. I'll still like it regardless. For someone that didn't start with the UC series, I don't really care if it was really just a condensed version of it from what I hear people say.

Would have to go with After War Gundam X and 0083. Love X for its setting, characters and pacing. And I just enjoyed 0083's art direction/mech designs.

Least fav would prob be IBO or the SD series.

I've only seen about 5 or 6 of them, but my favorite thus far is The 08th MS Team. I'm a sucker for the romance genre, and specifically the Romeo and Juliet dynamic, I find that quite lovely when done right, as I think was the case for the most part in 08th.

Aside from that, Iron-Blooded Orphans would be my next choice. This series was overall very well polished and was a decent entry point into Gundam for me.

i guess gundam wing.
Its the first one i saw and the only one where i thought all the gundams were cool looking.

though i rewatched it when i was a little older and man is it a super boring show.

ive seen gundam wing, seed and its sequel and gundam 00 and its sequel.
They all kinda suck in retrospec. A more objective rating would probably say that gundam seed (not its bad sequel) may have been the best of those.... shrug

My favorites are Origin and the 1st season of Build Fighters.
Iron-Blooded Orphans gets an honorable mention because it's the closest to what I think Gundam "should" be.
∀ Gundam and Heavy Metal L-Gaim are my favorite anime directed by Tomino, but the latter is not a Gundam.

Zeta Gundam. I love the show for its complex political themes, bizarre characters, ambitious storytelling, and the sense of scale the series adds to Gundam lore. I prefer anime on the brooding end of the spectrum and Zeta is able to capture that tone perfectly. It's also a proper sprawling space opera epic with some of Tomino's finest auteur moments. The last 5 episodes are simply some of the greatest I've seen in anime history. They play out like a modern Shakespearean tragedy. I absolutely love this series.

Either The Origin or War in the Pocket. The former provides greater depth to many events within the original series and its characters, whereas the latter takes a more unique turn than most other entries by showing the effect of the One Year War on the average civilian and grounding its repercussions down to the social level, not to mention showing some good tactics in how a Zaku can fight a Gundam and Bernie's role being one that not many series afford to what's treat as their antagonistic force.
