How the heck did Vander Decken survive? Having the devil fruit powers and being in the ocean for an extended period of time and all I kinda thought he was dead.
either way, that was a good episode.

I recall luffy saying that he wanted 10 members in the his crew near the beginning of the anime, counting luffy they are at 9 right now. Whether it be Jimbei or not not, one more member will be join.

Seriously? I don't remember that. Probably because I caught up to the anime episodes when it was in it's early 300's and was up to date ever since, so it's been a while since I've started watching this.

Im not really sure what episode in the anime he said this, but here is a page from the manga where he mentions it, it was fairly early on in the series, even before zoro joined i think.

It seems as tough he says he wants to find 10 people, so excluding himself (as mentioned by Jeddy017), so there are still 2 spots for luffy to fill (unless he counts thousand sunny as a nakama, in which case theres 1).

Man, I know what you mean. I'm going to rewatch one piece now because of this episode. I feel like I've just understood a whole new layer to the series.

Also has anyone seen the 1973 movie 'Fantastic Planet?' I can't help but correlate it to the relationship between humans and the sea kings.

SIGH...I fuckin love one piece. :)

Wow, they really had some nice music playing during the symbolic part of this episode.

The Red line parts connected oceans, another red line connects parted races.
The message Oda tried to convey with that one was clear: No matter what race you are or what color your skin has - shed blood will still be red.
I admit they dragged it a bit, but you should be used to it by now, wouldn´t be a real One Piece discussion without someone playing the "we want speed, revelations and action"-card, right?

Now all that´s left is to leave with a bang and start another story...with a bang.

MEH tbh, glad at least the whole Hody thing is over. Okay so it's a law but CMON people, the blood transfusion thing felt really forced into the plot, probably also in the manga like this but yeah I think was kinda pointless they're all like YAY luffy our big savior, he needs blood? Oh... well in that case screw em bcuz of some stupid law

I don't understand why people are bitching about the pacing. That's the one thing the anime excels in over the manga. In the manga everything goes by at lightning speed and there's no time to develop real connections to anything that's happening. The speed of this episode was just perfect. Haters gonna hate.

I can't really remember the events of this specific episode. But in chapter 648, which I think is the one that would correspond to this episode, Hody is seen alive.

Anyway, maybe I misunderstood something about that post.

Nah, you're right he's still alive. What I meant was that he didn't even get hit by Elephant Gatling in the manga.

21:50 I just saw a pregnant mermaid. That means the theory of them laying eggs or whatever gets tossed out the window and it is most likely that merfolk do the dirty.

The crew would be unstoppable with jinbei but I feel that he is too mature and serious and wouldnt fit in atmosphere and mood

I can tell Jimbei won't join the Straw Hats, but a fish man would be really useful for the Straw Hats whenever a devil fruit user fell into water, and for water-based fights.

This arc makes me think that One Piece has some kind of agenda. Diplomacy between races (both in One Piece and real life) is an important thing, but people who try to demolish natural barriers make me angry.

What a beautiful episode.
Loved the bit at the beginning with the Sea Kings saying that the Noah was designed to be pulled by them, and that Shirahoshi has been their queen since her birth.

It's also weird that Luffy could hear their voices (but apparently Roger could as well)...maybe it has something to do with the "Will of D" and the potential to be the Pirate King who's basically the ruler of the seas.

The blood transfusion bit got me a little teary eyed, and I liked the message since it tied up the whole arc in a nice little ribbon; believe what you see with your own eyes, and let the past die with the past because the result of vengeance is always the same no matter which side prevails.

Luffy finally popped the question asked Jinbe to join the crew...which makes sense, because he's the closest person to Luffy outside of the crew.
Tbh, I can't see Jinbe fitting with the Straw Hats even though I think he's awesome...I don't mind if he eventually does join but I'd rather they just kept him as an ally.

There are just tons of other characters I think could fit better further down the line!

Firstly, the sea kings mentioned what others did last thread, Luffy could hear their voice. We know he did and like Rayleigh said Roger could hear the voices of all things, we saw that it did in fact mean he too could hear sea kings speaking. What does that mean exactly? As for now, I'm unsure, but we also know Roger was able to decipher the poneglyph in Skypiea if I recall correctly! Also, the sea kings expanded on the Noah. It was a ship designed to be pulled by them, and they don't understand why a mermaid is born every century to be their queen but they follow her regardless. The ship itself they understand its purpose and hope it can be fixed by "them" before the appointed time. They like Neptune understand this great importance the ship holds, the link to Joy Boy we've heard about I'm sure. I was going to say we have a master shipwright here to fix the Noah but I'm sure Franky can't fix that up alone.

Neptune had the announcement to clear all suspicion off of Luffy and everyone cheers. The day is saved and Hordy and his gang are tied up and captured, away from drugs I'm sure. Further we finally understand what happened with Caribou as he did not play a part in the climax! Caribou dumped his mermaids out to probably make space for all of the treasure including the Tamate Box. Recall, that is the thing that Decken wanted to age Shirahoshi up with so he could marry her. That ought to majorly come into play later and I'm curious what Caribou will be up to storywise. There was honestly a part of me that thought he may use his swamp to entirely absorb the Noah...

Franky showed off his afro, yet again showing his amazing ability to use his hair to fit with the atmosphere, and Brook, his fellow afro boy, loved it! Then we got a piece of information about Chopper. His monster ability may be absurdly strong but it has a limit of 3 minutes and after he cannot walk for a few hours. Basically, it is literally an all or nothing gamble. So, that's why he's only going to use it when he feels like he must.

Then the predictable occurs. As Shirahoshi was carrying Luffy down I thought to myself, "oh great now we can go over the Fisher Tiger blood transfusion with Luffy, showing just how he influenced the people as they all together in unison offer their blood"! But, despite being predictable and a little cheesy what happened was honestly amazing in my eyes. The way it was Jimbei who shared his blood with Luffy, being saved for a second time by him and now practically being blood brothers, was already awesome. The second the crowd didn't speak up but Jimbei walked through them I knew my gut reaction about this being a bit too cheesy was wrong. Then we had the close up of the blood going through the tubes with soft piano playing and a montage of everything fishman that has occured up until this reset to zero, in Fukuboshi's words. Those like the Dragons who spilt fishman blood and kidnapped Camie, those who submitted to hatred and spilled their enemies blood like Arlong and Hordy, those like Tiger who rejected sharing the blood of humans despite how strong he was, those who we lost like Bellemere or Otohime and those who grieved for them, those who fought like Whitebeard or now Luffy. This is a long woven history we have experienced and through all the hard and all the struggle, finally a moment like this was able to occur. Between human and fishman, Luffy and Jimbei. And no one was against it, all the efforts, the failures and successes and tragedies, it's all been worth it... That was great!! Fisher Tiger would be so freaking proud of Jimbei my brothers, it makes me tear up thinking about. He's done so much. And of course Luffy would ask Jimbei to join his crew. He's admirable and amazing and saved Luffy's like twice now, if not possibly more.

I was thinking this conclusion was going to be worse than most arcs for some reason but I found this episode very beautiful. :)

Damn, what else can make you get feels when you watch a Fish-man transfusing blood to a human in front of millions of people and ending the "blood fued".

But I agree though, nobody gave blood to Luffy even though he saved everyone, and when Jimbei gave him blood, everyone was happy, that was kind of... uh... weird?

I'd love to see Jimbei join the crew though!

Luffy having the same ability as Shirahoshi to an extent was a very fascinating detail for the Sea Kings to point out since it explained how a lot of the animals Luffy's talked to like Surume understood him perfectly.

I need to see more of Nurse Robin's assistance~

It was disappointing to see that the people of Fishman Island continued to act like cowards but it was great that Jimbei decided to take the final step towards true change in terms of human-fishman relations and the monologue about how everyone's the same inside regardless of their differences was simply beautiful. I tried my hardest to not tear up!

Jimbei, join the crew, man!

Man, I'm ready. I've been waiting for Jimbei to become a Straw Hat since Marineford.

Glad to see a focus on the mysterious world lore again. The fights weren't really a strong suit for this arc, so I'm glad it wasn't dragged out beyond this. The Fish-Man Island saga is far better for its themes of humanity as well as unveiling more secrets of the world. It reminds me of Skypiea, only down below.
