| THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- It's a solid chapter but I have to nitpick on something here: I fucking hate that Ace is still brought up to the story. I like him, you like him, everyone likes him but can't we have an arc when he's not mentioned? We now see him on flashbacks and characters other than Luffy keep mentioning him, for some fucking reason. It'd be fine if it's like just once or twice on a minor thing when an old Ace's friend meets Luffy and they talk about him and whatnot but he exist just for the fucking plot and it won't stop. Nah, it won't. When we'll get to Elbaf we'll still see him because of Oars and his friends. I can't really. I just can't. He just can't rest in peace, can he? The cover story is what you'd expect. To be honest, I didn't care at all. I hope the next one is the final one. Izo meeting his sister was a nice moment. It was indeed touching. As for Yamato being a woman... I don't mind it although Oda abuses this genderbend shit a lot. Queen should have been a woman as well and yet here we are. But I will be positive and see where this leads. Break next week though. |

Thanks Ulti and P1 are still amusing. Little reminder/confirmation that Dino Zoan-users are especially tough and durable. But most lol worthy panel this chapter was provided by Robin and Jinbe. As expected, the only ones that passed the undercover mission with flying colors xD Nice reunion of the other siblings and we got a spread of Kaido + Disaster. Won't be easy to save Mome with such a line-up, but a devil fruit user like Law should be able to. Then already the reveal of Yamato. He's indeed a massive Oden fangirlboy to say the least. No surprise there, but him being a she? :D Knowing he's female I want him even more in the crew. We're late in the game, there probably won't be a better candidate. And I mean, wanting to be like Oden means also traveling the seas like him, furthermore the Straw Hat Crew has always been a gathering place for all kind of oddballs. It's a perfect fit. If not, at least +1 to Luffy's harem I guess. My biggest gripe is that Yamato and his backround came too sudden into this arc. |

| Having someone to continue Oden's will is great. If he ends up joining the straw hats too, it'd be amazing. Can you imagine the newspapers lmao, Luffy takes down the strongest creature in the world and recruits his son to the crew. Would be almost too perfect. Actually excited to see Kaido's announcement, shame we have to wait two weeks. |
| My hands were shaking out of excitement and I was tense, Robin trying to blend in made my day lmao, and Yamato is a girl? that was so unexpected tbh but I like it, and she even has Oden's diary, this explains why she was "waiting" for a long time for Luffy, also from the flashbacks Oden didnt mention much about the One Piece, but who knows, maybe he said something else about it? I wonder how Luffy will deal with it. I cant wait for chapter 985 bc of Kaido's announcement, im very excited and impatient now smh. 5/5 chapter ! |

This chapter was pretty solid all around so now he has to target Ace's involvement with the arc to hate on at least one aspect of the chapter. Well then, the people noticing the similarities with Oden's clothes last week were completely right on one thing, but your bet was definitely some future sight Haki stuff haha ----------------------------------------- I think we'll be getting another Ace-related flashback soon, and it looks like we'll be getting some more Whitebeard pirates background in this arc too, considering Marco's presence. And yet again, ever since the start of Wano, fuck Orochi, and I hope he dies a terrible death. Kaido is just like "I HAVE AN ANNOUNCEMENT TO MAKE", and just wanting to execute Momonosuke and get on with it, while Orochi is all about wanting the kid to suffer, suggesting stabbing him first, beat him or boil him just like Oden himself, what is wrong with this coward?? Also, hyped about the next cliffhanger, I bet it will be the about Kaido's ultimate goal he's been keeping for himself until now, very curious to know where he is getting at. Gotta say my favorite moment was the hilariously effective infiltration skills for both Jinbe and Robin, they are such a good duo with this stuff haha |

I prefer Oda to give us more of these ladies on the frontlines than just sticking with his buffed bois tbh Especially because the number of physically strong women in One Piece that aren't ugly bastards like Big Mom is astoundingly rare as far as I remember. Having some that are naturally strong as hell and also beautiful women is always good imo (not to make the vast majority of the strong ugly ones some sort of appearance based guideline to be followed), from the top of my head, we only have Alvida (started as an ugly bastard and maintained her strength after eating the fruit that turned her into a slim cutie), Poppy (Amazon Lily), Stussy, Smoothie (both from WCI) and now, in Wano, Kiku (heh), Ulti (at least super resistant) and (potentially) Yamato, the rest are strong with some gimmicks and abilities that aren't exactly raw strength (stretching a bit, maybe Sadi, Tashigi and aforementioned Rebecca, but they are more like agile fighters and canonically described as not being too strong, just very skilled with their arts). Not including Carrot because that's more on the Mink aspect during full moon, and she would otherwise be like the latter I just mentioned anyway. |

That's basically the entire premise of this story with Roger already, and for that we have Luffy and a bunch of others. Oden is pretty much the Roger of Wano in any case, even on a storytelling standpoint regarding his arc and influence. I found way more unique for a girl to identify with his message to such a spiritual level to want to be called the same sex as his to show how in depth she went to be someone that could earn his figure with merit tbh, I would say the other way around is the vastly more stereotypical and overused thing to do. Also this may have some interesting Kiku parallels going forward. |
