TOKYO - Hundreds of people of many nationalities held a march and rally in Tokyo on Saturday in support of the Black Lives Matter movement as well as protesting against what they said was brutal police treatment of a Kurdish man who says he was stopped while driving on May 22, dragged from his car and shoved to the ground, leaving him with bruises. The incident was captured on video by the man's acquaintance and posted on Twitter. There was a protest over the incident in Shibuya on May 30. Saturday's rally drew a bigger crowd, protesting against police brutality in Japan and also to show solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement which has been gaining momentum in the United States and around the world for the past week. Protests were also held Saturday in South Korea and Australia. The Black Lives Matter movement erupted after George Floyd, a black man, died in handcuffs on May 25 while a Minneapolis police officer pressed a knee on his neck even after he pleaded for air and stopped moving. "I want to show that there's racism in Japan now," said 17-year-old high school student Wakaba, who declined to give her family name. She and her friend, Moe, marching in their school uniforms, held a sign saying: "If you're not angry, you're not paying attention". "No justice, no peace, no racist police," the crowd chanted outside Shibuya Station. “Even if we are far apart, we learn of everything instantly on social media,” Taichi Hirano, one of the organizers, shouted to the crowd. “Can we really dismiss it all as irrelevant?” he asked, stressing that Japanese are joining others raising their voices against what he called “systematic discrimination.” https://japantoday.com/category/national/Rally-against-racism-in-support-of-Black-Lives-Matter-held-in-Tokyo https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2020/06/07/national/protests-rallies-race-police-brutality-tokyo-japan/#.Xtzj9UUzbIU -EDIT- Support for Black Lives Matter now also happen in Osaka. Anti-racism protesters march in Osaka An estimated 1,000 people have taken to the streets in the Japanese city of Osaka, joining forces with protests around the world against racism. Japanese and foreign citizens marched for 2 kilometers on Sunday in the first major anti-racism rally in the city since a black man died in police custody in the US state of Minnesota on May 25. The participants chanted "Black Lives Matter," one of the slogans of the global protests. At the end of the march, they kneeled to express their opposition to violence and racial discrimination. A US woman said she found that many people want to change the world and it makes her happy. But she also said they must understand that discrimination is hard to get rid of. A Japanese man said people need to think about racism as their own affair. https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/news/20200607_19/ -EDIT- New rally. Black Lives Matter protesters march through Tokyo TOKYO (Reuters) - Thousands of protesters in Tokyo took part in a Black Lives Matter march on Sunday, calling for an end to racial discrimination and police abuse after the killing of African American George Floyd in Minneapolis last month. Demonstrators marched through the streets of the capital’s Shibuya and Harajuku districts chanting and holding up signs spelling out slogans such as “Racism Is A Pandemic” and “No Justice No Peace”. “It is not enough to just send our prayers,” Shu Fukui, a 22-year-old university graduate, told Reuters. “We need to change society, not only for George Floyd, but also for those who died in the past.” Organisers said about 3,500 people took part in the protest. Police did not disclose an estimate. Protests have gripped major U.S. cities and spread around the world since footage from May 25 showing a white police officer kneeling on Floyd’s neck to pin him to the ground for a whole nine minutes went viral. In Atlanta on Saturday more protests erupted after a black man was shot dead by police as he tried to escape arrest. Demonstrators shut down a major highway and burned down the Wendy’s restaurant where he was killed. Some protesters at the Tokyo march said Japan needed to own up to its own problems with race. “In Japan, there are far-right people who discriminate against other races. And Koreans and Chinese in Japan are exposed to a lot of hate speech,” said Naho Ida, 44. “These things must not be allowed and we need to oppose this.” Public broadcaster NHK last week apologised and deleted from its Twitter feed an animated video about the U.S. protests that sparked online outrage for its depiction of African Americans. https://in.reuters.com/article/minneapolis-police-protests-japan/black-lives-matter-protesters-march-through-tokyo-idINKBN23L0FI |

The image clearly says they are letting in foreign workers and support giving them permanent residency. Majority also backs granting permanent residency, survey shows Your statistics is about percentage of Chinese,Korean citizenship living in Japan. I'm talking about the DNA of Japanese people. @1:21 Only 4.8% of Japanese DNA are unique. 24.2% of Japanese DNA similar to Korean while 25.2% DNA similar to Chinese. This is the same as what Taro Kano said that ever since hundred years ago(or maybe thousand),Chinese and Korean people enter Japan. Japan being homogeneous is a myth. Truth is Japanese people are mixture of people from China,Korea,Okinawa etc to begin with. In Japan,if someone become naturalized Japanese citizen,he or she has to change name to Japanese. You never know if those you think are Japanese could turn out to be Chinese,Korean or having those ancestry. |

Why do you think megacorps have all been pushing this stuff? People get outside, people buy stuff. Corporations see that people are getting outside and buying stuff, so they promote the agenda to get people to notice and buy their stuff. This makes more people "protest," and the cycle continues. Hmm, what's going on? Haven't watched the news lately. Also, who's paying them? |

Nooo, they're too naive. Don't do this Japanese! Don't show solidarity when you don't have a clue. You only meet friendly black people in Akibahara and occasionally see black male performers in JAV, that's about your whole experience with them. Take the skinny girl in the first picture as an example. If she were face to face with a black man in a slummy part of the USA, guess what, she would get robbed/raped. What would you get by protesting? Your police are one of the best and you have one of the lowest crime rates in the world. This is none of your business, choose your cause wisely. |

Beside Tokyo protest also happen in Osaka. A Japanese man said people need to think about racism as their own affair. https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/news/20200607_19/ |

A Japanese man said people need to think about racism as their own affair. https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/news/20200607_19/ This killing has brought out the most white guilt I've ever seen. I cannot tell if it is sad or hilarious. |

vuxk said: Nooo, they're too naive. Could not agree more. But that isn't the Japanese people's whole experience with Blacks. Three Black U.S. servicemen rented a van and kidnapped a 12-year-old Okinawan girl. They beat her, duct-taped her eyes and mouth shut, bound her hands, and gang-raped her. I wonder how she and her family feel about the Tokyo and Osaka protests. Olatunbosun Ugbogu, a 22-year-old Nigerian national serving in the U.S. Navy murdered a 61-year-old Japanese taxi driver to avoid paying a $190 taxi fare. U.S. Ambassador Thomas Schieffer described the murder as "a shock and outrage to all those who believe in a civilized society". I wonder how the late taxi driver's family feels about the Tokyo and Osaka protests. Besides sucking up, the Tokyo and Osaka protesters are simply demonstrating a laughable dearth of self-respect. @Kayle_x_Morgana So being against racism = white guilt now? I thought racism was a universal issue but apparently being against racism is bad. You want people to stop stereotyping whites as racist (because that in itself is racist.) but you don't want people to fight against racism? |

The cult is liberalism is trying to spread its infection to every corner of the globe. At least these protests are only in the hundreds and haven't turned into the disgusting display of savagery we've seen in the US. If Japan knows what's good for it, they will not cow tow to these people and allow this cult to further infect their society. |

While showing solidarity and support against police brutality is nice this type of protest sadly won't accomplish anything. Things need to be changed on the US government level police should be held accountable for their actions. I don't see that happening at least not with Trump in the office. |

It make sense for the protests in western countries, but it don't make sense in Japan. They would accept native English speaker over ESL for their company. For illegal immigrants, it's obvious they will be place at low paying and massive labor job due to their language barrier. At least say it's a Japanese vs minority What Japan really need to focus on protesting for a better justice system? Look at their conviction rate and unfair cases they have. |

My fucking country is being destroyed by the woke ideology. I'm fucking angry and I have a right to be. Lawlessness and hatred towards white men is being promoted based upon a total myth. There is no fucking widespread racism against black people. Black people can get into Harvard with like a 22 on the ACT exam. Everyone bends over backwards to give them every advantage possible. So to see people acting as if all this violence against us is justified? Its disgusting. The left wing media ought to be ashamed of themselves but of course they aren't, because they have no morals or integrity left. Its all about their agenda to stir up hatred so they can pit the rest of the country against white males. |
