Novelist Kurone Kanzaki announced on her Shousetsuka ni Narou blog on Tuesday that light novel series Maou-sama, Retry! will get a TV anime adaptation for a 2019 premiere.

Synopsis
Oono Akira, a working adult that can be found anywhere, was transported to a different world while logged into a character known as the "Demon Lord" in a game he manages. There, he meets a girl with a disabled leg and they begin to travel together, but there's no way that others will leave a "demon lord" with such overwhelming strengths alone. While being targeted by countries and saints that are trying to subdue the demon lord, they cause turmoil wherever they go.

Demon lord on the outside, normal person on the inside, a misunderstanding type fantasy! (Source: Blob Translations, Edited)

Kanzaki originally launched the novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in October 2016. Futabasha has been publishing the novel under its Monster Bunko imprint with illustrations by Kouji Ogata since last June, which has three volumes in print as of March 30.

A manga adaptation drawn by Amaru Minotake has been serialized through the Futabasha's Web Comic Action portal since last October. The second compiled volume went on sale on August 30.

Kanzaki also plans to remove the story's web version from both the Shousetsuka ni Narou and Hameln websites, as the difference between the original web story and the print version continues to grow. A reprint in larger font with new illustrations by animator Makoto Iino is scheduled for a mid October release under Futabasha's M Novels imprint. A colored version of Minotake's manga adaptation was also announced for both digital and physical releases.

I personally don't mind Isekai stuff and I'm just desentizise to it nowadays. Though I can understand that it plagues a lot in the anime's lineup.

Though then again this is the same recurring trend for harem stuff as well in the past like... 3 years ago, so...

Isekai has long been popular thanks to titles like Zero no Tsukaima. But when Konosuba and Rezero decided to make fun of or deconstruct the genre, they only made it popular because of their popularity.

Yeah I'm aware of that but I guess it's more of being apparent since those two came out like... 2 years ago.

@Wasshio As LN this trend is still popular, plus ReZero and especially KonoSuba still sell a lot of different stuff. Naturally, the trend lives. It really is like a harem fashion, when 5-6 cult franchises like Nisekoi fed the whole trend.

The cynic in me wants to say "oh great, another one?!". Though seeing as I'm really enjoying Isekai Maou this season, I'm not going to write this one off.

Not the greatest of series, but I have enjoyed the manga so far (to be approved on Mal at this time).

Yes, it is another Isekai which probably falls under that awkward Isekai SOL/Comedy genre, but it is one of the few from the antagonist's perspective. I wouldn't mind seeing some of these adapted so I am hoping this one is decent enough.

No one should expect anything crazy but if you enjoy isekai, this should be different enough that you might find yourself enjoying it more than you think.

I personally don't mind isekai stuff (and i guess i'll keep watching a lot of them as long as the Japanese still have interest in watching them). Regardless i'm kind of skeptical about iy but a bit curious at the same time.

... in what world Nisekoi is a cult franchise? lol It's one of the most successful romcom in history and the best-selling romcom in the magazine in recent history, only behind Kimagure Orange Road which is the most successful romcom of jump and was made in the 80s after the success of sunday titles like Ranma and Urusei Yatsura

When harems and romantic comedies were the most popular genre :). Now, when this manga is remembered exclusively as a badly made love triangle, it probably is not so.

If this does become a isekai harem... Hopefully it's more like Isekai Maou.

If not then this should be great. Atp I don't care about this trend anymore just wondering how it will executed

Those never were the most popular genre in general
Those still are the most popular related to romance as they always were.

With this logic, you can say that the only popular genre in anime is "teenage life". This is an absurdity.

Bandori isn't idol, it's literally a band in and outside of the franchise. Uma Musume isn't about idol but races. Revue Starlight is about theater not only in but with musicals. Those were forced.

The rest I can agree that are.

You yourself know perfectly well that this is a pure formality, since all these franchises have the same promotion formula, are oriented to the same audience, and also contain the same stuff like obsession with purity of heroines or a general focus on waifu / yuri ships. Damn, the girls in Uma Musume even perform on stage with J-Pop songs after each race.

For example, you can move among fans of the most different Bushiroad franchises, and still see the same faces, especially in the West. Yes, they all have different premises, but technically it’s just an idol franchises with different settings and gimmicks.
