I was a little disappointed by the conclusion to last weeks cliff hanger. The idea it was a clingy ex following one of the girls was an interesting one. But the way it handled the whole thing was rushed. And ultimately rang false. I did like that it led to the guy who was a dick to Ririko getting shut down though. And all told I thought the rest of this episode was really solid.

Yoshino and Ririko's big moment felt a little been there done that. It was very reminiscent of her big moment with each of the other main girls. But I also think it showed Yoshino having matured a little bit. And Ririko is one of the most compelling characters on the show to me. And this showcase certainly furthered that opinion. I also liked the backstory it gave Sandals-san. The scene on top of the tower was really pretty too. Plus it was cool how Sandals came to the rescue this time. May seem trivial and asinine. But now I'm curious if 12 and 13 will be two parters. Or if it'll be the midseason finale. And then start anew with 13. I'll find out soon enough.

Sandal-san saved the lost song. Who was that with the dragon mask?

A glimpse into Sandal's background was intriguing. So he does have a connection with the town, aside whimsical matters. Ririko was also great, her singing was beautiful, Yoshino managed to support her well.

Can anyone please explain how the rating is so low... I've legit not found one person that doesn't enjoy this show and yet it score keeps dropping every episode.

I'm holding out till the end of summer. Maybe some pp are like that, waiting for it to end to watch it whole.
Cuz I have really high hopes for it, the next of P.A.Works "working" animes. Don't want to have less feels due to the wait every weeks.
But maybe it hurts the show's popularity

Well i nice conclusion for these past two episodes.
The question is will Ririko's grandma finally agree to let Ririko join the group without any objections seeing as she is growing for the good.
Things must have been hard on both Ririko and her grandmother seeing what happened.
Hopefully this will help her out.

I love how they never specify what country Sandal is from and only refer to it as a "country" with the exception of one of the tourist women remarking that "he looks Scandinavian" or something like that.

Such a good followup to episode 10, I can't get enough of Ririko. Not as tearjerking as the rain scene in ep 10 though. I don't think they can top that one.

I am glad Ririko is feeling ok, and now we know why we don't see her mom or dad.

The insert song was great! I saw it long time coming and it was very plot-convenient but the atmosphere (with all the fireflies too) was great and the song itself was very touching.. it shed some much needed light on Ririko's character.. though I'm still left in the darkness about why she is this way (even though it's very obvious she just wants to have friends and step out of her own shadow).

Pegasus, Unicorn, Griffin, Phoenix and the Dragon, with Ririko being one we know, I really wonder who of those creatures other girls are.

Riri & dragon's fate were depressing...
I see a new ship, good job Yoshino. I forgot how opposite they are, even Yoshino trying to be anti-normal while Riri can't help but be called weird.
Some nice temple scenery.
Very interesting connecting dragon's wisdom analogy to Riri, Sandal's family, romance tour, Yoshino the outsider, Manoyama dance & the rediscovered song. Combining it all in a firefly scene was amazing.
Sandal the uber musician, feels like every song in this show is good.

Sandal, I'm slowly falling for you. You need to stop now. Huehue. ;D

Riri's singing voice is so magical. So proud of my baby Riri. <3 Riri made me cry this episode, and the fireflies didn't help me at all from stopping my tears. Ugh.

That was a very beautiful episode. ;-;

Probably my favorite episode since Maki's backstory episode. And just like in Maki's episode, the hug in this one was also really sweet and heartwarming.

And glad that fatass got NTR'ed even before anything could happen between him and that girl. One does not simply make Ririko cry and get away with it!

-well i guess yoshino's fuckin dead
-wait they do rock climbing without harnesses?
-mr. sandal ain't too bad
-speaking of which when did they start calling him sandal-san
-for some reason i absolutely fuckin lost it when the one guy started washin his hands in the cup of water
-riri had a hard life
-man fuck that one dude
-yoshino's a pretty good judge of character, and i enjoyed the scene at the shrine a lot
-sandal-san's a pretty upstanding fellow, and in retrospect i actually love his increased involvement in this episode
-jesus christ lmfao that guy was an ex
-the firefly viewing was a pretty spectacular scene from start to finish, and riri has a pretty nice singing voice

All things considered, this was a very lovely episode, and it pretty much rekindled my interest in watching the show. If there is one literary technique that I just can't get enough of, it's parallelism, and there was a pretty healthy serving of that in this episode. Furthermore, the character focus of this episode was on Riri and Alexandre/Sandal dude, and they have probably emerged as my two favorite characters in the show so far as a result of this episode alone. Riri was up there before I watched this episode but she was such a precious fucking flower in this one. The backstory of her parents was pretty standard but it still managed to be pretty tragic because it gave a lot of context to the actions of Chitose earlier in the show. Also, the whole thing about how Riri found an inconsistency in the Manoyama folklore and the entire firefly viewing scene at the end was so unexpectedly heartwarming. I'm also a huge fan of whenever small gestures end up affecting way more than what they were intended to do, and this applies to the origins of the Manoyama dance as well as Riri and Sandal's efforts to show people the true meaning of Christmas.

or something
i just fuckin loved this episode

Riri is like those conspiracy theorists that are never taken seriously.
She is relatable as hell aw.

I love the way this anime handles all of the different characters and personalities, it's truly a masterpiece.

That big guy being one of the woman's ex was pretty weird... but okay :'D

Ririko has grown a little, which is great to see, since her and Yoshino are my favorites of the show. Yoshino has also grown quite a lot since the first episode. She cares more and more about the town and its residents, including her friends :)

The dragon story was touching.

Riri's singing was beautiful. I'm also happy that Sandal got a little more screen time in this episode. He's a very interesting character.

Worst episode so far, imo. Likening Ririko's introversion to outright xenophobia is just completely moronic and tone-deaf: no Ririko, you are not like the dragon at all, people aren't scared of you and you're not a literal non-human monster. She's comfortably the least-interesting of the main cast and this messy backstory and resolution did little to change that. And the continued one-dimensional nature of Chitose's antagonism is genuinely frustrating now, but making her xenophobic to outsiders only makes it worse and makes it damn-near impossible to make her likeable as will obviously be the eventual intention.

Also, the clingy ex following Kiyomi was a really dumb writing decision, not least because he gets rewarded for his creepy persistence by getting back with Kiyomi rather than being punished in any way: Kindaichi is a goddamn policeman and could arrest him for stalking and for breaking-and-entering, right? But no, apparently being a creepy stalker is a-okay. And the ending resolution being to market the town as one for elopers is just idiotic and would surely land them in heaps of trouble (not least because advertising that fact would completely defeat the point, right?).

Sandal was the only good part of this abysmal episode, but can he save the show from this terminal decline it seems to have entered? The drop in quality since such a strong first few episodes has been genuinely disappointing, and I'm just hoping things will pick up again now that we've done all five main girls' character arcs.

Man Ririko's smile was priceless and that song was so calming. Even in this episode Sandal-san is pretty awesome. And the matchmaking tour was so cringy for me, I had to pause for sometime.

What a great episode!
Ririko and Sandal are my fav characters of this series and characters in general for various reasons. This is truly an important as well as a beautiful episode expressed right. Not my favourite anime but indeed one of the best episode for me.

P.S. On the contrary, that cop character really pissed me off there.Trashy stereotypical clichés.
