Do you think watching anime the way it was released (1 ep. a week, etc) is worth it? I've just started watching and I barreled through 4-5 animes in like....three weeks/month. I feel like i'm missing something so i'm going to try to watch one or two ep a day only for the next series i watch. Opinions? Mod Edit: Thread has been locked to stop it from being necro'd |

There are threads about this already. But it depends on the series, IMO. Good solid stories are best watched back to back, so you can fully absorb their awesomeness. Then there's stuff like Naruto and Bleach which go nowhere anyway, so are fine week to week. Personally I watch most stuff as it airs, then re-watch the entire series in a marathon some time after it's over. |

I'd have to say yes and no to watching one episode a week. If the series is ongoing of course i'm forced to watch an episode a week. If the series is completed I usually watch 1-3 episodes a day while switching with other anime as well. It most likely just boils down to personal taste when it comes to how you watch anime. |

Honestly, you should just watch at whatever pace you prefer. Don't let anyone else decide what's best for you. Personally, I usually wait until a series is out and subtitled in its entirety before watching any of it, at which point I'll watch at my own pace. I prefer this approach because it means I don't have to worry about really getting into a series only to have extremely slow fansubbers leave me in despair. |

Well, I like to watch an entire series at a time. It takes a lot of time, but it's nice since I don't have to worry about cliffhangers; unless the series ends on a cliffhanger, of course. |

Well, if a show is really good, I watch it as much as possible at one time, like how I'm currently marathoning through Higurashi XD Netflix often slows my speed down, gives me more time to digest what I see. |

i've found that when i wait too long inbetween episodes (especially for a more drama-oriented show) i lose the intensity and i just dont get into it as much. though for series that have stand alone episodes i can wait a while inbetween episodes because i dont have to remember what just happened. it's all personal preference. I like to marathon my anime (or as close as i can get to marathoning) |

Hmmmm I watch about 4-5 completed series at a time, watching one or two episode from each of them a day. I used to watch one series at a time and finish it within a few days, but now I've added more because nowadays I like to take my time watching these series. But once a week is too long of a wait for me. I don't ever remember what happened last week. |

I made a similar thread here. I prefer marathoning, but am feeling a bit burned out and exhausted by the end lately. But, I'm trying to cram as much 'must-watch' anime I can this year... |

I watch anime pretty slowly. One series at a time, usually at a rate between one episode per week to one episode per day. |

As a general rule, I prefer to watch episodes in batches rather than once a week. There are a few exceptions, but in general, I have to restrain myself if given a chance. My natural tendency is to just do what I did with Higurashi (I watched half of the first season and all of Kai within less than 24 hours). |

It really depends for me. I'm fine with watching an ep/week for episodic series or series that are weaker. Otherwise, I prefer to marathon. |

with a series like bleach or naruto i will wait for about 3 or four months then, like with shippuden watch eps 1- 40 in one go(like in about two days). that way its better. then watch it week to week, when it starts getting dull again just flip off for a few more months. |

Stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid afk. DX I like watching deeper, more dense stories slowly (though not necessarily one a week), and lighter, more action-packed stories quickly. Although, this also varies, because TTGL was pretty epic watching one episode a week. |

For me I prefer to binge my anime over the summer but it's often hard for me to hold back the urge to watch certain anime as the episodes come out. Especially when everyone starts talking about it and I feel out of the loop. >.> |

Sadly enough, I treat Shippuuden the same as I do a slice of life anime. I watch it and try to absorb its scenery and atmosphere. Its just way too slow to be a shounen anymore. Back on topic, it depends on the anime. With something that has a complicated plot that meshes almost seamlessly with episode to episode, I marathon it. If the episodes are loosely connected, or tell dont leave you at a cliffhanger, I tend not to watch as many in a row. I tend to leave slice of life anime alone and complete them slowly over a length of time. I have spent a long time completing Mushishi, not because I dont like it, but I am trying to appreciate every episode. If I marathon it, I will just watch it for the sake of watching anime and it will lose its magic. I find that anime that focuses more on atmosphere than plot and characters must not be marathoned. Things like Kaiji however should be marathoned for the suspense, so I usually take 2 or 3 weeks off and watch 2 or 3 episodes at once. When an anime has arcs, its nice to power through an arc and then stop watching for a day or two. It almost changes from anime to anime, thats why I have so many in my "watching" list that I havent touched in months. Usually anime I am afraid of forgetting because of a marathon session I tend to watch more slowly. For some reason I treat GTO episodes like gold and rarely ever watch them, same with Hayate, Genshiken, and Mushishi. |

I'll watch some animes weekly while others I'll keep away from purposely so I can watch a big chunk of them all at once. I'll usually do this while watching a completed series(or more depending on length) during the week as well. So I'm never without an anime, I'll stock up on animes I've never seen on my HDD and save the ones I have seen onto DVD-Rs. It's a system I've been using for a while now. |

I prefer spacing them out. If you're watching a very dramatic show, the effect of a very provocative cliffhanger is somewhat lessened when you know that you'll know the resolution in five minutes. For me, the ability to ponder over a show for a week is very beneficial. Also, I'd guess it would be harder to form attachments to certain characters if you compress their time into a few hours or days rather than seeing them every so often over the period of months or years. In the end, it's entirely a personal preference, though. |

Well when you pace yourself, it allows you to watch a lot of those type of once a week animes all at once while not completely over stuffing yourself with anime. I sometimes watch animes that are already over and I end up using so much of my time and getting homework done last minute. XP So pacing is a good thing cuz it limits you to like an episode or 2 a day. |

Meh. I never have that kind of problem as I watch a miniscule amount of anime on the Internet. Otherwise, I watch it from the comfort of my comfy bed on a DVD I bought from the store or ordered off Amazon. So yeah, I can take as long as I want paying attention to detail and I don't have to sit in front of my computer and get back cramps! |

Depends on the series. Generally I find that if I watch them slowly I remember them better and in the end like them better. But I've also watched whole shows without stopping and still like them. I really think it's just a matter of opinion. Whatever floats your boat as they say. |

For certain anime, i don't mind pacing it a bit. But most of the time, i cannot bear with it, to hold myself back from watching the latest episode as it is aired. The first time i went bonkers and kept refreshing the site to see if the latest anime episode has been released or not was Full Metal Alchemist. During that time i was mad. I kept waking up during the night to check for the latest episode. Then came Suzumiya Haruhi, Kanon, Gurren Lagann, etc etc. I can wait if it is stuff like Potemayo or Moetan, lol. |

I pretty much like to watch my anime in one big crash course marathon session. Like many of you I also seem to forget to even watch the episode every week :) I don't like cliffhangers (they drive me CRAZY!) so I like to wait out for the completion of a series before I start on it to focus on one series at a time. |

I tend to watch one series at a time so one episode a night is normaly good for me. For me pacing is good as I feel if you jump forward too many episodes at a time you don't fully appreciate the little things. By watching one episode a night I have a full day to go over what I saw, build up the hype and then watch the next episode. Of course sometimes I break this rule and watch like five episodes in one shot - like the final L/Light arc of Death Note. |

Even though anime marathons are my preferred method of watching I am beginning to like watching anime as it comes out. The main reason is that it lets me do other things that are important during the week. At least for me I have a hard time pulling myself away from a marathon of anime and get important things done. |

It depends on the series. I don't watch anime, but with manga I definitely pace myself differently between series. Monster, for example, I would just read all the way through in an evening if I suddenly could afford all the volumes. Lone Wolf & Cub though - I'm very happily keeping a slow pace on and intend to read and have influencing my life for years and years to come. It relies on the dimension of tone I suppose. Is it some OMG thriller, like Monster or Death Note, because I'll race thru those. Something more subtly beautiful like Lone Wolf though, I appreciate more if I really give myself time with it and let the changes in my life effect my relationship with it. Ultimately the ones I spend more time with tend to mean more in the end. I'll remember Death Note as an exciting quick burst of not totally stupid adrenaline that I loved until it was over and then moved on to something else. Lone Wolf though, will feel more like an old friend. Like Calvin & Hobbes, which I have read religiously since I could read. |

bringin it back. Gotta agree....after getting a few more titles under my belt I gotta agree, it depends on the anime. Gotta admit though, keepin up with 4-5 series' at a time takes away from the experience. Shoulda powered through Fate/stay and a few others....but i'm limiting myself to one ep. of aria a day...shit is beautiful. |

I honestly can't pace myself or just watch an episode a week or so. I've done this with some new series like Death Note (when it first started airing) and eventually I just completely forget about it and stop watching it. So, I prefer to just wait for a series to be finished and just watch it all quicker, several episodes for a few days and whatnot. Of course this may change if I get completely obsessed with anime or something, I dunno. |

I don't like watching one episode per week, at least not most of the time. I prefer to have something like 3 available episodes per series. Shows like Death Note, for example, can be almost frustrating to watch on a one episode per week basis. |

There are series worth watching all at once and series you just really can't do that to. I think what it is you're doing most is trying to stuff yourself with too much at once...kind of like going to an all you can eat buffet with all your favorite foods. You don't know where to begin...so you just start everywhere...but since there's no rhyme to anything it isn't as good and sometimes painful. Pacing yourself and planning out your dishes, kind of like your watching moods, helps a lot and may increase your enjoyment. I like to go on massive binges a lot, when I can. I learned right away that I can't watch an anime from the same genre right after what I'd just finished. So if I'd just finished a romantic comedy I most definately couldn't watch another one even though it's one of my favorite genres. From there it's best to choose another...like action or mystery in order to variate your experience. Hence..planning ahead of time what I'm going to watch instead of going from one romantic comedy to the next...at which point they all seem to just run together and you forget why you liked the first one over the second one...the differences lose their signifigance to you. |

Well sort of...so then I wouldn't be hooked on that series and having the need to finish the anime right away. As for once a week, I wouldn't fall behind in school because I'll try to finish my homework right away before the episode comes out and then i'll have the time to watch the anime on the day its out. |

I think it depends on how good the series is and how long it is. For example, if you're watching something like Naruto or Cased Closed, that has hundreds of episodes, watching many a week is no big deal. Shows like that also tend to have a lot of filler. But if you're watching a much shorter series, say 50 episodes and below, I say take your time with it. Especially the really good ones you don't want to rush. Best to let it sink in. I prefer watching 1 episode a week when an anime is updated instead of waiting till all the episodes are available. To me, pacing is the key to realllly enjoy the series. |

Don't mind it myself on watching one episode per week like what was said in an earlier post you have something to look forward to, but when the series is really good then the thought comes to mind and would not complain if 2 episodes were to be shown per week. |

For me, it depends most on when I find the anime. If the series has already completely aired, I usually like to marathon it...because imo it is best to watch the episodes when you WANT to watch them as oppose to pacing myself(and possibly losing interest). If I am lucky enough to catch a series while or before it is airing, I will follow the series week to week rather than waiting for it to finish. It's all personal preference though, there is no greater inherent "worth" to either option. |
