Is there a thread for this already ?

If not, let me start the ball running.

This is my current collection which i just started to collect from the beginning of February 2008.

FREEing 1/4 Suzumiya Haruhi
FREEing 1/4 Asahina Mikuru
Max Factory 1/8 Suzumiya Haruhi
Max Factory 1/8 Tsuruya
Max Factory Figma Nagato Yuki
Bandai 1/8 Metamo Haruhi
Good Smile Company 1/8 Akatsuki Mishiro
Good Smile Company Suzumiya Haruhi Nendoroid
Good Smile Company Nagato Yuki Nendoroid
Good Smile Company Asahina Mikuru Nendoroid

The rest are gachaphons and two silly 1/144 Gundams.
I'll try to post some close-ups when i find the time to do so. Just installed this cheap shelf to display my figures collection two days ago. Currently busy trying to locate some cheap and big plastic sheets to create an enclosed space to prevent dusts from settling down on my figures

Any figure collectors out there ? xD

This one is an old pic so I've gotten a few more figures since then. To my memory, the ones not shown are the Konami Yoko and GSC Nendoroid Haruhi.

The one in the white box to the right is the only big figure I have out atm and it's this bad boy here:

These are my mini figure collection, and like the big ones, i've gotten a few more since then, mostly lucky star ones.

Glad to see that there are also people who collects figures like i do.

@Feena-c
Go destroy Sasuke, lol. Remember to post his broken corpse when you get your camera.

@freedoleen
Is that a Shana Pinky ? xD
That reminds me, i forgot to place my Pinky figures for display. Mine are just Ayanami Rei and Asuka Langley (from Evangelion). Nendoroids are uberly cute, lol.

@Faust721
From my collection, you get the rough idea which anime i am obsessed with right ?
And now i see that you have that bunnysuit Haruhi with the guitar. I want it !!
That is a resin figure and not a PVC type, am i right ? I do remember seeing it on the internet, but no more stock for online orders. Do let me know if you see it being available somewhere. I am out to gather as many good looking Haruhi figures as i can possibly find. =P

i've never been a big person of figures... but i have gotten a few anime toys/figures over the years. the pokemon came from candy boxes and stuff haha.

i have:
- sumomo (chobits) keychain figurine
- pyoko (di gi charat) keychain figurine
- sailor mercury (given to me)
- young trunks (dbz)
- really small pikachu, meowth, and lickitung
- kirehana, electebuzz, marril keychain figures

not anime but:
- final fantasy 7 group set of figures : tifa, vincent, seph, cloud on his bike, yuffie, cait sith, cid
- kingdom hearts: sora, riku, kairi

thats all :P figures dont interest me because most of my favorite shows / characters don't have figures for them anyway.

The only figures I own are the Etrian Odyssey Medic, and that Limited Edition Ropponmatsu2 figure that no one other than me has ever bought, anywhere. I'm still not sure why I bought it...

...oh wait, yes I am, it was $25 and it was in front of me. Stupid NY comic store, I should've bought the blue one. If they had the blue one I would've bought the blue one...

I joined MAL to archive the anime I have watched so I remember what ive seen, and so I dont have to keep renaming "now" on the next episode to watch. Who remembers what episode of an anime they are on without writing it down?

Then I came on the forums to discuss and find new anime. I just find figurines to be ridiculously geeky (for girls its cute) and strange, sorry if im alone.

How can you not remember what episode you're up to, in general? I've followed 20+ series every season for almost a decade, and never had trouble keeping track of everything. But then I keep everything I download so it's a simple matter of looking at the last episode number in the series directory.

I guess, maybe, if you stream stuff instead of downloading it, it could be a little more difficult to keep track of if you're particularly forgetful or following a lot of stuff. But streamers fail anyway.

As long as you're here, you're in no position to be condescending about this sort of thing. Figures are a fairly large part of the anime fandom. They're no more geeky than obsessively keeping track of what anime you're watching. And saying 'for girls it's cute' is really stupid.

Well, I usually download the entire series before I start, so its not as easy as looking at the last episode in the directory. And when you wake up the next morning and sit down and look at a specific anime, the numbers 13 and 14 look extremely similar. I am glad that your mind is so in tune with the episode number.

lol, and an action figure is totally different than a barbie doll :)

And sorry if I dont buy into the whole "anime fandom" stuff. I just watch it because they have a lot of good interesting series. Im not going to go out and buy an action figure or a figurine just because I enjoyed watching a series. But I guess thats what separates me from the average consumer.

Hmm, I kinda agree with this in that I don't think you have to go full out crazy and buy all the figures and merchandise and all the other trappings of something to still enjoy it. It's perfectly reasonable to enjoy anime for the stories or style or music or whatever reason, and not be compelled to buy all the other stuff too. I watch a lot of stuff on TV that I enjoy enough to keep up with current episodes and don't feel like running out and buying all the stuff that goes with it. Like, you won't see me buying American Idol DVDs or CDs or Heroes comic books or T-shirts or whatever.

However, I do think it's pretty lame to post in a thread that does not concern you (it asks for people to post their figure collections- you don't have a collection) just to laugh at people who do collect things. You have your right to an opinion, of course, but why waste your time just to say something mean-spirited? You don't collect figures or "dolls", that's cool. Whatever floats your boat. But posting in a thread just to lol at people is just as lol-worthy.

I do have a figure collection, which I will be posting later. :) I don't really buy figures anymore, but I still like the ones that I have ^^

So just because I have an opinion means I shouldnt share it? Although I did blatantly laugh at the idea in the beginning, because maybe I was a little surprised that people actually do collect figurines. I kind of only saw it as an exaggeration like how they portray it in Welcome to the NHK or Genshiken. Sorry if I offended anyone.

I didn't say you shouldn't share it - I said you had your right to your opinion, just that I thought (in my own right to an opinion sharing time here ^_^) that stopping in just to be mean and laugh at people is lame. Surely there are better uses for time, such as replying to posts that genuinely interest you in a more positive way, or doing something else more productive. Then again, here I am posting in reply, so I obviously have nothing better to do either, lol :) But you said you're sorry, so I will let it drop!

Wow, that is an awesome Lina figure! That photo is funny XD And it's great to hear about new Slayers anime! I just reviewed the DVD box set for Slayers NEXT a couple of weeks ago, and I was feeling all nostalgic about Slayers :D It would be like blasphemy if the new series didn't include Lina and Megumi Hayashibara XD

I really wish you'd stop using the word doll. It's not about offending my masculinity, because as you may have noticed I have a little girl for an avatar. It's just a matter of figurines and dolls not being the same thing. They are made from different materials, and have different uses. Dolls are things to be played with, figurines are just decorations. They are different. It's not really that hard to see the difference.

Now, am I allowed to laugh at that comment? Its like little boys who get angry when people say they are playing with dolls cause they are action figures. Its just semantics, dolls, figurines, models, its basically the same thing.

A new Slayers series? Sounds good, but I have yet to watch the other ones.

Hmm, i actually don't mind all these "views" on people collecting figures or "DOLLS". It is almost the same when those people who do not watch anime comments about people who watches anime.

It supposed hearing the word "dolls" kinda annoys me in someway when "people" thinks that anime = "cartoons" which you see on Disney Channel, Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon. Most anime watchers would be annoyed by that. Would you say and tell people that anime are the same as cartoons too ? If not, you should understand why some forummers are trying to stress the difference between a figure and a "doll".

I am not offended by your perception on thinking that people who collects figures are geeky. The fact of watching anime is geeky to everyone who doesn't like/watch anime. I am already used to it.

I know my hobbies and passion for anime and i am proud to admit it. In a way, i would think that my hobby of collecting figures for the anime series which i like to be a way of supporting the anime industry since they do get a part of the sales money as royalty. I doubt that i will buy those R1 DVDs since there won't be subtitles for it. By listening, i can capture about 60-75% of the conversation but i prefer reading the subs to confirm the meaning of certain words immediately.

I have a Quad Core PC which i often tweak around to improve the performance. Buying all those little parts to improve air ventilation or to add some bling-bling to it. Geeky ?
I do buy car parts to improve the performance and stability of my car too. New absorbers and suspension sets to improve handling and all those other stuff. Geeky too ?

Geek (anime) + Geek ( "dolls" ) + Geek (technut) + Geek (motorhead) = ???

Having such "obsessions" and seeing how some people cannot understand these "obsessions" of mine actually taught me a lot. I learned well to accept the fact that people are different and try not to do anything which i know will hurt them or insult them in someway. People can think that anime can be associated to those oldie Mickey Mouse cartoons. If i try to correct them, they might think that i am like a little boy getting angry and trying to hide my embarrassment of watching cartoon or like trying to pull myself out by explaining that Ironman/Batman/Superman cartoons are different from Carebears/Powerpuff Girls cartoon.

I do not know if you realised, but there are many fake Mizuho figures available for sale. Especially even more suspicious when it is coming from eBay China or Hong Kong.

Unless you're do not care about whether the figure is genuine as long as it is cheap.

I'm with you here. Seriously, try explaining your collection to the next girl that visits your room; moms and sisters don't count.

Only "figurines" that could ever pass off as cool are the modern art looking ones from KidRobot or Medicom.

I think cosplay is lame as well. Not tryin to blaze, just saying that it's not my thing...but for those of you that are into it, whatever floats your boat. Maybe i'll change, I mean, a year ago I was makin fun of anime and now i'm watching shows like love hina and school days.

Of course, there are probably more fakes available than "real" ones.. but if the fake looks nice and is of acceptable quality.. I prefer to put fakes on my desk! It was "kind of" cheap, but I would've gotten this particular one even if it weren't. For the sole reason it looks better than any and all of the other (genuine, branded) Mizuho figures available.
